People who owned a galaxy nexus... Battery time? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I've a galaxy nexus and a s3. The s3 has a bigger battery and was meant to have great battery.. But im finding it hard to get 4 hrs screen on time on my s3 while i could easily get 5 on my galaxy nexus.. I've to charge my s3 sometimes twice a day...
Im running cm10. Maybe when cm10 is stable it might improve

my phone lasts 1 day with 5-6 hrs screen on time with no problem..the s3 battery is way better than the nexus one

Nexus has proper drivers. Samsung closed source the SIII drivers. It makes a difference.

So will cm10 improve my battery when sources are available

I had the galaxy nexus about 3 months ago and paired with a good kernel I could get 4 hours and some Change on screen time. But nothing touches the S3 ( not you razr maxx) in terms of battery life ( I9300). If I can make a recommendation, try android revolution HD 2.3.0 for a couple of days. You should be satisfied.

I got the s2 but battery drop so quickly and takes so long to charge.. So I'm using people who have/had Both: Is the battery drop much slower on the s3? How about charging time?

Thanks, but is it really much more? Looked at tests it seems just little more... What about charging, how long does it takes to the s3 to charge from about 7% to 100% while in sleep?

Having owned the original Galaxy followed by s2 and s3 id say each new version has about 30% advantage over its predecessor. Galaxy didnt get me through a day, the s2 could just about scrape a day of my usage and the s3 leaves me with about 20% when its time for bed.
Its all relative to usage but my phone behaviour hasnt changed much over the devices and the s3 just about hits that smartphone sweet spot for me... a whole day of usage with a bit more left over just incase i cant get to a charger
Hope this helps

Forgot to add about charging performance. Havent actually timed a charge but its pretty fast using the sammy charger. I do have some old chargers that arnt sammy ones and they do seem a little slower probabky due to the limited current they can punch out.. I also tweaked the charging currents to max the current the device charges in siyah kernal. Havent tested if this affects charging times but id say it defo isnt slow. On holiday at the mo but if i get time ill post some charge graphs when i get time.

Never had an s2, but this is my ninth android phone. Not that it's a very scientific gauge but battery life is easily the best I've ever seen on an android phone.

I too have had all the galaxy s variants. battery life is relative to rom and kernel as well as usage.
personally speaking my S3's battery life is very good using Rohit V11 and Siyah 1.5.2.
Concerning charging, what do you call pretty fast? My s2 takes about 4 hours to charge, mmHg Xperia play less than two hours...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
In fact the Xperia play takes just one hour to charge... And discharge much slower too!

I have S2 and S3 and S3 battery is lot of better than S2. I charged both with 1000mh charger and S3 is around 30-40% of battery life when S2 is dead with around same use.
My S3 charges for about 2 hours 30 minutes, from 0%'

Music battery consumption

So ive been using my devices to listen to music since ive got my first android device and since i can remember this drains the battery almost as fast as leaving the screen on all the time.
On average my battery can do about 5 hours from 100% to empty and i think this is really bad. And this without doing anything else and screen off.
So any explanations why this is consuming so much juice?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I have done 9-10 hours of music off my phone. I get less if I am streaming music.

JuiceDefender on Note 2

Anyone else using it? I've used it since OG Droid, and it's always the first app installed on any phone I get. It claims to be giving me 2.01x battery life, and with any other phone I believed it but I'm seeing people post 2 days no charge and I get about 1.25 days with very heavy use, unless I'm at work (12hr shifts 4 days a week). Thoughts? Some people claim it's junk, and I'm not so sure with a battery as big as ours we need it, or if there is a better alternative? I mean we already have a Battery Saving Mode...

I'm using it,I think if you configure it with the right settings it can save you a good amount of battery.

I personally don't think it's needed on this phone because how long the battery already lasts and I like my smartphone to stay smart. But on my lg spectrum I used deep sleep battery saver, it was pretty good.
Also on a side note time up isn't as important as screen time. I could get days if I didn't use the phone, but if you are always on it 12 hours is pretty good
Sent from my SCH-I605 (AKA NOTE 2)
I think battery saving apps are obsolete now because phone's are becoming more battery efficient and batteries are becoming larger (Mah). I don't see any need for a battery saving app anymore especially with this phone. Just uninstall it and some more RAM
I use deep sleep battery pro. very easy to set up

no need
I use to use that app with my gnex and evo 4g but, I leave 4g on and gps and still after 14 hours have 50% battery left... this phone is a ogre!!!

I installed juice when I first got the phone and stopped running it because I feel like already get such great battery life there's no need for it. Im running beans rom woth stock kernel and getting 20 hours woth around 4 and a half to 5 hours of screen time with 4g on all day. I never use wifi

Power Saver

How often do you guys/girls use your Power Saver mode and do you notice better battery life while using it? I often wonder if people with real good battery stats and life are using this TW implemented feature.

I always used it on my galaxy s3, then switched to the note 2 and never felt the need for it. Great feature though, it really does work but slows down your phone.

Never. I like witnessing Project Butter at work.
No need to use it when I'm still getting over 6 hours on screen time in a 2 day span.

Does Samsung Galaxy battery last longer than iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4s and I'm planning to change to Samsung Galaxy s3 or maybe a Note III (since there's a rumor that it'll be out). I use my phone 24/7 and I wanna know which phone's battery lasts longer? o::victory:
All depends on what you are doing with the phone. Heavy user or not.
The note III is supposed to be a battery beast.
The s3 is ok. I have seen people saying it lasts longer than the old iphone and also the opposite. So, I would say there is no big difference. I have bough the samsung 3000mAh battery and cannot complain

Battery on my S3 isn't great, it's better than my xperia U, but I'm still pretty disappointed. Got a Moto G for a friend though and that thing is a battery beast.
Really good.

S3 and Iphone 4s have exactly the same battery drain. Maybe S3 will last a little longer, max 30 min.
Btw,firstly,Note 3 is out, already for a while. Secondly,Note is highly recommended,as it can last 7 hours of screen-on time and performance is beast. It's ideally designed for heavy users.
You can buy an s3 an put the Liquid Smooth Rom On it works Very Very Smooth better then the original and also you can flash custom Kernel that Optimize your Battery life i do That too and my battery still keeping full after a long Schoolday (listening music, playing games and so on)
