I have an iPhone 4s and I'm planning to change to Samsung Galaxy s3 or maybe a Note III (since there's a rumor that it'll be out). I use my phone 24/7 and I wanna know which phone's battery lasts longer? o::victory:
All depends on what you are doing with the phone. Heavy user or not.
The note III is supposed to be a battery beast.
The s3 is ok. I have seen people saying it lasts longer than the old iphone and also the opposite. So, I would say there is no big difference. I have bough the samsung 3000mAh battery and cannot complain

Battery on my S3 isn't great, it's better than my xperia U, but I'm still pretty disappointed. Got a Moto G for a friend though and that thing is a battery beast.
Really good.

S3 and Iphone 4s have exactly the same battery drain. Maybe S3 will last a little longer, max 30 min.
Btw,firstly,Note 3 is out, already for a while. Secondly,Note is highly recommended,as it can last 7 hours of screen-on time and performance is beast. It's ideally designed for heavy users.
You can buy an s3 an put the Liquid Smooth Rom On it works Very Very Smooth better then the original and also you can flash custom Kernel that Optimize your Battery life i do That too and my battery still keeping full after a long Schoolday (listening music, playing games and so on)

You can always buy a zerolemon battery and your phone will last couple of days with heavy use

How could we possibly answer this when you do not define awful.

Battery life on my Note easily lasts all day.

It would be helpful if you elaborate your Note's set-up. Such as like what ROM is being used, brightness level, LTE/no LTE, etc...
My Note currently has no issue lasting a full work-day with LTE on the whole time. And this is with moderate usage. (No videos, and minimal music)
I'm satisfied with mine... Just keep a charger near by.

There are only a few reasons why you see your battery life as terrible.
1) You are coming from an iPhone. But now you're using a tool of a phone, not a toy, so your battery life will be lower.
2) You are coming from the Droid RAZR MAXX, which is the only android with a bigger battery.
3) You have a rogue app that you didn't use before that is draining your battery life.
4) You are using excessive amounts of LTE data, and you came from a phone without LTE.
If those apply to you, there's your answer. If they don't, you may just have a bad device or battery.
You really need to be more specific when stating something as subjective as battery life is terrible. May I suggest you post screenshots of your battery stats so that you can give some insight to why your battery life is terrible. Coming on these forums and ranting without evidence won't get you very far.

Pretty much every device is unique, even though they are produced and assembled in identical fashion. It's possible for a device to have faulty software or internal hardware from the factory that could drain battery, and it's also possible for it to be shipped with a faulty battery. It's not a common issue, but also not unheard of. If nothing in his usage of the device is out of the ordinary, then it's possible he received a faulty device or battery, and should exchange it.

Install cpu spy and make sure you are going to deep sleep. For weeks I couldn't make it through the day and once I realized that the phone wasn't sleeping I found the app that was causing it and deleted it. I get great battery now but still reboot every morning because my original charging cable was lost so my phone will not sleep until I reboot.

I would say battery life can be defined by screen on time only.
Brightness and lte makes much difference.
Anyways just refer to other battey forums. Search helps.

Compared to what???
If you are trying to compare your Note to Apple itoy that is like trying to compare pink tricycle with pink tassels to a Corvette ZR1. No comparison at all, definitely more than apples and oranges. Having owed, well still own till I sell it, Dell Streak only other 5 inch screen out there. Agree it is still not apples to apples (or vette to vette), but Shelby Mustang to ZR1 and can say the battery performance is about the same. I upgraded my Steak to a 2400 mAh battery and had all services on and OC'ed to 1.9 ghz, yes I know single core, standard definition resolution, etc, but as close as you can get in 5 inch screen world. So far the 2500 mAh and stock ROM, with everything on, battery time is relatively the same. Will say only phone that might compare is Samsung Skyrocket HD that is set to come out this month(?), inside they are close to the same, but the screen is 4.6 inch super Amole plus.
Can anyone help me out? This is my battery on battery monitor widget. It says 1500 mah. I've only had my phone off the charger for 3 hours and I'm on 33 percent and watching it drop fast.

Battery Monitor Widget guesses at the capacity (or hard codes it). Go into the apps settings and you can tell it the battery capacity.
Also, make sure your using decent batteries. The two for $15 deals on ebay are not direct replacements. Stick with oem or brand names llike Anker.

Hi I've a galaxy nexus and a s3. The s3 has a bigger battery and was meant to have great battery.. But im finding it hard to get 4 hrs screen on time on my s3 while i could easily get 5 on my galaxy nexus.. I've to charge my s3 sometimes twice a day...
Im running cm10. Maybe when cm10 is stable it might improve

my phone lasts 1 day with 5-6 hrs screen on time with no problem..the s3 battery is way better than the nexus one
Nexus has proper drivers. Samsung closed source the SIII drivers. It makes a difference.
So will cm10 improve my battery when sources are available

I had the galaxy nexus about 3 months ago and paired with a good kernel I could get 4 hours and some Change on screen time. But nothing touches the S3 ( not you razr maxx) in terms of battery life ( I9300). If I can make a recommendation, try android revolution HD 2.3.0 for a couple of days. You should be satisfied.

Definitely. Mali GPU, removable battery so you can get an extended one, jelly bean etc.

Its hard....but I think you may want to look at this:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5033&idPhone2=3708
I think you should stick with the atrix...1930 mAh vs 1500 mAh...My sister have a S2 and she have to plug the phone all the time...my atrix last (on CM7) 2 days and some time more...
You have to wait a little longer for the 3.1 kernel to be complete....and then....ICS/JB fully working for the atrix will be release...
If you love battery life, stick with Atrix.

well thats what I'm worried about are we getting a fully working ICS or JB ?? I don't think so to be honest
Why do i get more battery life in all site (phone arena , GSM... ect ) for the s3 mini and its only 1500 mAh ???
change phone. its only a matter of time before your digitizer gives up...

S3 mini has updated hardware and should be newer. I'd think about the exchange. It seems like it can last a day on normal use but maybe you're an avid user.

I am thinking about getting the T Mobile HTC One, currently I have a Note2. I am wondering how the battery life compares to the Note2. Anyone switch from the Note2 and how's the comparison?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Battery life is terrible compared to the Note. I can still get a decent 10-12 hours but I could easily get twice that on the Note. I'd still prefer this phone over anything out right now, though.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I second this. The LG Optimus G Pro and the Droid Maxx are the only phones in the Note 2's battery class. Everything else sucks comparatively. I get good battery life out of my One though. I can easily get thru a whole day without having to charge it. And if I ever do need to charge it it charges pretty quickly.

Is it just me or does this phone completely suck. Dont get me wrong I love android and Samsung. But this phones battery is terrible o have to charge twice a day and as soon as I play any game it heats up and drains all the battery. And everything is slow and laggy. The phone is actually pretty good, especially for its age...
You really need to ditch the stock ROM and try something like Cooked. It will perform better AND have better battery life to boot. There will be nothing laggy about it
Also, keep in mind that playing games will drain the battery quickly on any phone regardless of the ROM.

Definitely not normal to not last a whole day unless that battery is old. Either case, get some new batteries.

True. This is very light use. No gaming. Not a lot of screen time even. But it illustrates that the kind of problem that you described is due to firmware, and not the phone. There is a thread in this forum titled Known identified battery drainers that can help you understand how to correct battery issues. Part of the problem can be the rom, or more specifically the kernel, but there are other possible issues to consider. You can configure your phone to get very good battery life, even with heavy usage.
