Xperia S Incorrect Battery Reading - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Last night I charged my phone to 100%.
This morning when I turned it on I got a warning message about 1% low battery and the red led was blinking. I rebooted the phone and still got the same problem.
However, I hard rebooted my phone and the battery is now fine at 96%.
Should I be worried about it?
I did a battery calibration few weeks ago, should I do it again?
More info: Stock firmware .452 flashed advanced ICS kernel and quick panel settings a long time ago.

If it continues , wipe battery status in cwm/advanced :good:

Edit: sorry, misunderstood the question. Next time that happens, get dmesg output and post it here.

try to flash stock kernel.

Battery meter stuck at 100%

I have been using my g tablet unplugged for several hours with both TnT Lite and ZPad clean and the battery meter still shows 100%. Has anyone else experienced this before or have any ideas how to fix it?
Mine stays at 100% for up to an hour but not for multiple hours and that is on various roms.
It finally starting coming down from 100%, but it took about 3 hours. I am thinking it may not be the most accurate battery meter
I'm having the same issue. At first I thought , gee this thing has great battery life, then it shut down even tough the battery was at 100% , start it it , then shuts down. I thought it broke , then realized I had seen a post on this issue n plugged it in.

Mine does the same thing, and I thought that it might have been a problem but it eventually starts dropping, and usually starts dropping quickly or so I think.
It looks to me to be a problem of an improperly calibrated battery meter... still haven't tried the Clockwork mod wipe batt data yet though...
(This happened to me on stock fw & TnT lite 2.0 - 2.2.0 so far...)

It's like they are tricking us into believing the battery life is great =(
I have the same issue, but I also get a force close when attempting to check battery status under settings
I had the same problem.
I downloaded "Advanced Battery Improve" and it works for me. Now the battery meter updates correctly. Do not know if its a coincidence.
im having this problem too...
I had the same problem after my first charge. I let the battery completely drain, then powered up with the the power adapter plugged in. I used CMW to reset the battery stats on boot, and now the battery meter is working like I'd expect.
I also had the stuck 100% meter problem. I completely drained the battery, plugged it in, booted to CMW, reset the battery status, completely charged the batter (a few hours past when the green light came on), booted to CMW, and reset the battery status again. Now the battery meter seems to be reporting correctly.
Hope this helps others.

+1. I was reluctant to believe this would work, but it worked for me as well. I did this a couple of days ago. Yesterday I charged it to 100%, and ran it all the way down to 2% before plugging it in.

I think they mean CWM or clockwork mod.
mmracing meant: CWM, which stands for ClockWorkMod.

Whoah! I did the same thing... Yes, I was referring to ClockWorkMod, version .08.
Battery life on the G Tablet
So what's the general consensus on battery life for G tablet? I thought mine was permanently stuck at 100%. I let it run out for about 10 hours and then it began to slowly decrease.
I thought it would die within a few hours after that at 90% or 80%... Well it lasted 25 hours with some moderate use in between and finally died at 23%. Still incorrect but 25 hours?
Total discharge worked for me.
I had this problem. I let the battery completely discharge until it shut off. Then, I completely recharged it while it was off. After that, the meter worked correctly.

Wont go past 95%

Im unlocked rooted running wetdream. Ever since installing it, the battery indicator wont show charge beyond 95%. When charging with phone off, it reaches 100% but as soon as I power on, it only shows 95%. I've done battery cal app, let die completely twice, charge overnight, pull battery while still plugged in (which I never got missing battery notice for) and wiped battery stats in recovery. Is this something I just need to learn to live with or anyone have any other ideas? Btw, im loving nottachs wetdream rom. I know this has been posted elsewhere, I've tried all those tips. Just wondering if there are any new tried tips I can look into. Tia

No need of any app. Just drain the battery till it powers off. Full charge without switching it on. Should get the 100% bck.

i had same issue too, tried a full wipe or flashed different sbfs, but it didn't work at all.i guess it is gingerbread's fault.this didn't happened in 2.2.

I never had this on stock, but with the 10% changes in battery, would I have noticed.
When you are installing custom ROM, this is expected. You can try this,
Steps:
1. Drain your battery till gets shut off, then charge it till it says "Fully Charged" irrespective of 95% or 100%.
2. Once charged, Reboot the phone in recovery mode, keep the phone plugged into charger
3. Start it in Recovery mode using CMW, then remove battery stats
4. Switch off the phone
5. It show battery icon with %, with plugged in remove the battery
6. it will show missing battery icon, then insert the battery.. it will show 5% or 20%
7. Charge it for 3-4 hrs, then reboot the phone, you will see 100%
This Fixed for me...
Hi I've been using Neutrino for weeks and have not been able to get past 97pc battery using all techniques on xda. I finally fixed it yesterday when I installed clamsysns 1.5 kernel and charged over night and it was back to 100.

Just an update. I installed the newest version of wetdream yesterday. Got it to charge to 100% then thru resetting up phone and such, dropped to 18%. Recharged but didn't make it to 100% this time. Got to 95% but 4200mv, so I assumed full charge. At that time it was bedtime, so decided to just plug back into charger for the night. This morning it read 100% again. So its basically getting its full charge, just not showing all the time. A glitch I guess ill have to live with.

Battery mysteriously dying

I charged my phone during the night to 100% and used it for a bit this morning. I went to the beach for the day, and left my phone at home. Upon returning (roughly 5 hours later) my screen was stuck on the ATT splash.
I looked at my battery usage to see if anything strange had happened, and I was greeted with the attached image.
I am currently running stock ICS 4.0.3 from ATT. Rooted with Kernal version 3.0.35-Siyah-v3.4.2. I do have a lot of widgets on my home screen, but I have had this same setup for more than 2 weeks and nothing like this has ever happened before.
Pleas let me know if you need any more details. Any and all help is appreciated.

Download batery calibration app from market, charge until you get 4200mv, disconnect charge, calibrate then after succesful calibrate restart phone then dont shutdown until you get force shutdown.
If you cant get 4200mv, wait to the highest value then calibrate
Anyway your signals are very low, it will be drain battery rly fast, try make them highet and keep wifi shutdown

Why does low signal strength quickly discharge the battery? Also does this explain for the gaps in the battery info or is it something else?
Our phones do not require battery calibration. Have you installed betterbatterystats, and watchdog? If not, install them and see if it happens again. I can tell you that it's not the official update that's the problem, as I had it installed for a few days. Almost gotta be a rogue app. You could also try switching kernels just to see if it helps.

Thanks but again, whats going on? If I have been using the same setup for more than 2 weeks, shouldn't an occurrence like this have already happened?
I had a similar incident today running stock 4.0.3. no root. Phone went black. Once I noticed it, I restarted it which it didn't want to do at first. Went to the battery stats and it looks similar to yours. Battery level showed about a 50% drop. Never had that happen before.
Well I am going to try the first suggestion and see if that helps. I'll report back later.
It seemed that the first option worked pretty well. I let my phone sit for 8hrs today, and the battery only discharged to 87%.

Probably kuz it didn't reboot. It looks like your phone rebooted quite a few times for whatever reason, back to back, possibly got stuck in some boot loops too. Id call it a fluke unless it happens again.
And there is no "calibrating" our battery. If you reboot at lower capacities it'll come back substantially lower and then correct itself slowly over time. Its just how our meter works (voltage reading vs mah counter)

Battery Stats gone. How to fix it?

Hello,
i just noticed that for some reason my battery stats with omega v11 rom are gone.
Have no idea when this could have happen but not longer then two days ago it was all in place.
Is there a way i can troubleshoot what coused this problem? Anyone noticed anything similar after, say something specific installed on? As of my example i didnt flash anything specific before i noticed this bug.
Thanks for you help
Hi, I had the exact same display after flashing the latedt official samsung furmware, even the CPU time was identical. I removed battery for a couple of minutes then did an uninterrupted charge to 100 % overnight, the next morning I unplugged and the stats returned as normal
Good luck, it should work.

philby123 thanks for the info. I still have 48% of juice so will try your method this evening.
cheers
FYI taking out the battery and replacing it after couple of minutes doesnt change anything...
Put phone on charge to 100%
. Reboot phone and use it battery stats are rebuilt .
That is if you mean the battery stats .
If you mean the settings / battery application then that is not battery stats .
In which case reflash the rom .
jje
thanks folks.
it worked what was described in post 2.
fully recharged the phone (while it was off) and usage stats came back to life.
Great

Xperia P Battery

Does anybody know why there's a boost in battery % when the phone reboots?
Is it a software bug or a battery problem?
Sent from my LT22i using xda premium
mine does that to with 1.54 software...
Even worst, last night I've left my phone charging and when I checked it this morning it had 1% lol wtf?... it stayed 12hours plugged in... rebooted it and it started charging again.
Going back to stock rom from the carrier... or .544 file.

Nonsence , i started using the stock kernel and i got AMAZING battery life , it surpasses double the sustainability ...
*note the spikes that go up is not me charging , sometimes when i look at the phone for example is 25 % and when i wake it up after an hour or so its like 30 % , idk why this happens but it happend like 3-4 times
Well... Don't know why then. ..
Maybe i have a defective phone or battery.
Anyway, i just flashed again the .544 firmware, updated through ota to .54 , and didn't root this time just to check things out.
Either i have a software issue or defective phone/phone charger.
I noticed someone telling that the phone should charge in about one hour and mine doesn't do that. The two times i charged it, it took a lot longer. In almost two hours it reached about 70%.. so there is/was something definitely wrong.

its about calibration, you use it, it drains more, so it shows % of battery remaining like using, turn sleep mode for a while, battery will calibrate and show you more % because phone doesnt drain much

I understand your point of view but that does not make any sense, since no other brand does that type of reading.
I'm sure it is a software glitch or malfunction that causes.
The remaining battery % is the battery you have left. I've never heard of a % if you use it and % if it's idle, and IMHO doesn't make sense.
If anyone could confirm this, would be great.
tks
I also experience a boost of 1-2% when I leave the phone idle for hours..But the flickering values during reboot-isnt that an inefficient usage of the battery by the OS? Can it b fixed? It sucks to reboot the phone often to increase my battery...But it only works around 2-3 times in a single charge session..after that it drops during reboot

casca-the phone charging fully in an hour is simply bogus...It takes an extra 1-2 hrs after hitting 100% to reach the "Battery Full" state..

Yeah mate, true. Mine takes about 50 minutes to reach 80% and another 60 minutes to reach 100%.
From what i have read on a couple of reviews the Xperia P has quick charge mode until the battery reaches about 80%
The Battery can b made more efficient..the extended standby mode is a life saver,..but what's the point of not using the phone?...wish the "extra charge" during reboot gets fixed when jb releases..What's the maximum backup for u all? I once got around 50 hrs,via frequent reboots...

Android 4.0.4 may have this problem
So, there's no fix right?
i have xperia p and sometimes when i put it on charger for example when its down to 3% it starts to charge but not raising percentage but when i reboot it shows real status.so its charged but somehow percentage bugged
where are you from and what file did you flash? generic world or central europe?
normal problem
I think it's a normal "problem",
while rebooting it's clearing the battery-cache.
and it's not only on your Xperia P, it's on iPhone too

Same here ics is so bugged..what does it take for Sony to give a clean version...JB might b even worse...
it was actually weirder than that guys... the phone was loosing battery % with the charger on!
for instance, if I pluged the phone at 40% at night, in the morning i would have 1% of battery... so, not only was the phone not showing the charge going up, it was actually showing it going down! lol
anyway, I think it has been solved and I the problem was I've flashed the generic world version instead of central europe one.
tks for the posts.
