Can anyone help me root Karbonn A18. From what I have gathered in searching around is that Karbonn is marketing phones from China and some of these phones have already been rooted elsewhere. If we are able to find the original phone then it would be simple to root as the same root procedure shall apply for this phone too.

I read some where that:
"The phone is pre-rooted and with apps+ADB access.(Install superuser simply and use root apps)"
can somebody check and confirm?
got the phone yesterday... i can confirm that this phone is pre-rooted...
i used root checker it says phone has no root access.
u need to confirm whether root access is enabled in developer options... select it to root+adb... then install superuser from play store and then check again...

It's nice phone.. Used it no problem at all.. Prerooted just install superuser or supersu.. Bett backup is not so good but if u have auto killer app or like this than provide more by killing background process... Touch is very responsive never find a problem.. Camera quality is also very good.. All apps r available in play store. Even large games which I thinks that's not the played plays smoothly like all glu game..I played 600 mb game with smoothness... So it's a nice budget phone... Custom ROM also available so u can relax and do anything...

when i go to terminal and enter su it says error and when i use Screenshot app it says "this app is only for rooted phones" or something like that... it doesnt even ask super user app for root access like the previous version of root..
i dont think my phone got rooted. what should i do from here

you can use many apps which need root access. Just search google for that.
But for testing whether you have root access or not, just download an app called titanium backup form the market. When you open the app, it says "root: OK" .. if not, it says "root access denied" or something like that. Hope this helps

I really have no Idea about that dude !! coz I bought an unlocked x10 paying the full price ..
But I guess you can remove the branding by the debranding tutorial which was posted in the forums long back.

If you follow this rooting procedure you will end up with generic (debranded) UK R2BA020 ROM on your phone

There is an app that allows you to deactivate root for a certain time if I remember well, whereas can't remember the name of it at the moment.

Can someone confirm this adapted version still works with a rooted phone ? I need at least to be able to record programs in the TV guide, as I use this a lot. This is the only thing preventing me from rooting my phone (SGS 4)

I'm still using the app now. It works on my galaxy s4 but you can't load the tv guide. Watching tv works. You can record a program if you are watching the program and you push record now.

No sadly it says tv overall has stoped. It would be needs if someone find a solution for that. Because I want to use it to.

I've tested it out on different versions. It's always the same problem. You can see tv but you can't go to the tv guide. It's loading and than it says application has stoped. What i do now is using an older version. Version 2.6.1. With this version you can see the tv guide and record programs on your decoder.
With the newest version the xprivacy is not working. You still have the rooting message. I think you have something in the tv guide when you open it , that it also checks root. I really hope that someone can find a good solution for this problem.

I rooted the phone with a chinese "one click root" prg called vroot. I tried lots of other programs and none of them worked. The vroot did it!

Use Framaroot v.8.1, install it then click Boromir exploit. Once done, it will tell you if its successful then reboot. If not, use the other option instead which is the Faramir exploit.

Basically, rooting grants you admin rights to your phone. You can now uninstall bloatware (apps that was installed by default by your OEM), download and install apps intended only for rooted device, tweak settings, configurations that are inaccessible before etc. You might want to read more about Xposed modules... its one of the most popular app for rooted devices. It makes you tweak your phone in any way you want. But be warned though, make sure you do a research first before doing anything to your phone, always make a backup of your ROM and most of all, if you don't know what to do don't hesitate to ask for assistance. Given enough time, you will definitely understand the ins and outs of the Android platform. Keep in touch bro.

Have you tried kingroot? PC program and also the android app?
Or framaroot, the android app?
Both, or either, of those seem to root anything.

No, you cannot root it with Kingo. The app is nothing but unfunctional bloatware and the PC version is also unable to do the job. So consider the tip with Kingo here as an advertisement.
