First, nothing in this post is my own work. I just wanted to compile the information for everyone else who is surely wanting to know if the 4g LTE tab can run Netflix.
Step 1 - Root:
1. Download the file from THIS THREAD POST to your Tab10.1 (anywhere should work, I went with the /sdcard folder on my tab)
2. Power Down Tab
3. Power On and when you see the Samsung Text Hold Power + Volume UP (From This Post)
4. Select the Android+Box (Volume up to switch, then volume down to select)
5. Chose "apply update from /sdcard" and select the .zip file you downloaded in step 1 (When finished, the tab will automatically reboot).
6. Verify Root - You should see SuperUser in your apps when your tab finishes rebooting.
Step 2 - Asus Transformer Patch
1. Download the Transformer Patch from THIS THREAD
2. Install Patch - I chose to use Root Explorer to manually move the libnvomx.so file into my /system/lib folder, but you could also reboot into recovery and apply the .zip file that way instead (steps 2-5 above).
3. Reboot - If you manually move the .so file you will need to reboot, using the recovery it should reboot for you when finished.
4. Watch Movies
If anyone has trouble with this Please Do Not Email Me
I am really not a pro at troubleshooting, I was just willing to take a shot at rooting and found out that it worked. Hopefully this will ease other people's minds about getting root and netflix on your Verizon Tab 10.1
Also it is worth mentioning that I did all of this without using ODIN or KIES or ADB Shell or any of those other scary things. I chose not to try to install Rom Manager of Flash Clockwork Recovery as I had heard they may cause troubles.
I noticed that you mentioned using an SD Card multiple times in this post, but the 4G LTE version doesn't support SD Cards (doesn't even have the slot).
Why the discrepancy?

He probably meant place it on the root of the drive of the tab. When you plug in your tab to your computer, you should be able to view your files there. Add the zip file to the root of that drive. Hope that makes sense.

True. I was torn with how to describe the location and decided to use SD Card to be in line with the "\sdcard" which is still in use in the file system for the tab
I guess I've been explaining the root / recovery process on the OG Droid for so long that I still toss references to "root of the sd card" and "install zip from sd".
I'll edit the original post for clarity.
Question (and thanks this is very helpful!). I'm going to do the same as you I think and stick with custom rom and no cwr. So if you need to unroot for warranty return or whatever, and we've only done the steps in this post, what do we have to do to unroot? Thanks!
This worked very well...it was almost too easy. Thank you for sharing the info.
Does it work on the wifi only model? P7510?

Not 100% sure CSGirl... in my experience, the person making the determination about warranty approvals would be the in-store rep. In that case you should be fine by just using root explorer and deleting the SuperUser app. The permissions would still be there I suppose, but the store guy wouldn't see the telltale app.
Someone else could probably give a better answer.
If you open up the .zip file for rooting and go into \meta-inf\com\google\android and open the updater-script file you can see everything that is getting changed, I guess you would just have to change that back.
Also, @wiibrewer, I have no idea
Well how about is there any reason it should not work on the wifi model?

4g LTE Recovery Mode
Good Morning: Thank you for your postings. I have a new Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4g LTE. I am not able to get the device into recovery mode. Is there a procedure for rooting that can eliminate that step or is there an alternate way to get in to recovery mode? Any assistance will be appreciated.
I found that the volume up button is the one closest to the power button and not the actual volume button if that solves your problem

I can boot to Download mode and use Odin3 but can't boot to recovery mode... I get a blank screen with slight edge glow. So the older way to root won't work either, since you can't get to Recovery mode to finish the job.
Any suggestions? Would a Factory data reset work.

Have a Galaxy S2 that I broke the screen on moving heavy equipemnt at the weekend. It is insured, but I want to try and get my data off before replacing it.
The phone appears to work, but obviously there is nothing on the screen. When I connect it to the PC it keeps asking me to enter the password on the phone. I had a numerical password setup (not the slider).
How can I get around this in Kies? Anyone got any ideas? The phone wasnt rooted.
Thanks.
i reckon you could try my way :
1) root ur phone
2) go into CWM > mouths and storage > mouth usb storage
3) copy whatever files you want to PC
4) done !!
those steps is done without touching a screen
If you've used Samsung Dive, you could try the Unlock My Screen function there.
http://www.samsungdive.com
Can you access your phone via adb? If yes, you can install a VNC server in the phone and then you can have a remote screen on your computer, which allow you enter the password by computer keyboard.
I haven't ever installed a VNC server, so I don't know whether your phone needs to be rooted.

Problem is that his screen cant display anything so how could he navigate on cwm? Let alone booting into recovery..
I might had a solution, I once messed up with chainfire's night mode and it makes my screen go blank *duh* so i use android commander to copy my precious data before restoring the fw.. its a decent app and it could access your phone without having to mount it to usb storage.. (i think root is required) give it a shot!

1.You can blind boot into CWM, and connect the mobile to PC, then you can use the adb commands to copy your data.
2.Specify the kernel you are using, so that others having the same kernel can tell you the number of blind press needed and the direction to mount it in your pc.
Theres some good ideas here, i am liking it! Will put some to the test.
Thanks everyone.
I dropped my phone and the screen is toast. With the latest version of Kies(2.0.3) there is an option to "View in Explorer". Both internal and external memory is accessible.
To get there, click on you phone in the left pane and you will see basic information about your phone with the "View in Explorer" buttons next to the bars showing how your internal and external memory is allocated.
Good luck, I was able to back everything up to my hard disk.

Well, I am new to this forum because I recently bought a Galaxy Player. This is my first Android device and I have rooted it using SOC. I have installed clockworkmod but there is no option for the Galaxy Player. I have downloaded the ICS rom for the 5.0 USA version and I am just a complete noob to custom roms. Can anyone direct me to a goods tutorial on this or just a quick rundown on how to do it, I am just a really confused 14 year old... Thanks

just pretend you didn't do any of that and...
1. download odin3 v1.3 (windows application)
2. download the samsung usb drivers and install them, i can't remember where i got them
3. plug phone into usb, turn off while plugged in, turn back on while holding volume down (maybe it was up?)
4. go into odin and click the pda button and select...
5. this file and press "start" (i think that's what it's labeled)
6. the phone will reboot itself back to normal
7. copy this zip onto your sd.
8. turn the phone off, and turn back on while holding volume up
9. back that **** up, i dunno what the hell it's labeled
10. wipe data/cache/dalvik (dalik is under advanced)
11. choose to install zip from sd, choose the "this zip" from step 7
12. choose install from zip again -> ICS ROM you downloaded
13. reboot, try out ICS for 2 seconds
14. turn off, boot into recovery (the volume up + power **** we keep doing)
15. install from zip -> Google Apps zip
16. reboot and enjoy ICS and google apps and all the other cool stuff the internet has to offer
Thanks! Very well written, I'll try it out later tonight.

This is why you should always read the entire post when you download a ROM. That issue is mentioned several times through the thread, and it has yet to have been resolved to the best of my knowledge. But always look into what your flashing, otherwise you'll probably end up with a really shiny paperweight on your hands.
Yes, I should've looked at the whole thread but I f'd it up badly now... So, I read what you said about the "SD card problem in the thread" and I took a look and saw that you had to switch around /emmc (I think?) and /sdcard around in the vold.fstab file in the /etc directory. SO, I was stupid and extracted the whole .zip of the ROM, changed the contents in the vold.fstab file, re-zipped it up, and tried to flash it again. Unfortunately, I tried to flash but this is what CWM Recovery said:
-- Installing: /emmc/ICS/3-31.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
... It's probably because the signature verification failed (because of no signature). And I was also being so stupid as to deleting the original ROM off of my SD card... I also note that I am doing this all from an internal, I do not have an external... This is what I am going to:
Get an external microSD and microSD reader for the PC
Put the original ROM on it
Flash it from the external
I am guessing that it would work from that way, as I probably f's up the internal. Can someone clear this up? Will this method work?
Disregard my last post, I am all set back to the stock ROM with no problems. Anyways, thanks for the support, and I will always try to look at the whole thread before flashing a new ROM.

Check here this forum has a lot of custom roms for the SGP player and a lot of smart people who explain it as good as M.I.T.

You can not read your phone memory without root access. That's what root is for. To read what's in the ROOT of your cell. That is, to read or edit what's in the phone memory of your phone.

Via PC we cannot access build in storage... coz usually build in storage is used to store apps and system folder
That's android fact unless your device has eMMC storage device and configured as internal SD storage(Like Galaxy Note)

Okay. Built in storage means phone meomory. That is, the root of your device.
Since you say that your device is rooted, you can download an app called Root Explorer (paid), or ES File Explorer (Free. Make sure you turn on root features from settings for this app), and using them, you can navigate and make changes to the files in the root of your phone.
Currently there isn't any way to navigate the phone memory files from pc, as you can do with sd card (as far as my knowledge goes). But you can pull files from the root of your phone to the pc using adb pull, make changes and push it back again using adb push. (search for that to know more).
Thanks,
Rick.

Hi,
I don't know how many u guys have figured it out this workaround yet, but I still see many asking questions to the dev's about when UMS is gonna be incorporated in CM10/AOKP builds...
I have accidently found this neat little trick that enables UMS on CM10/AOKP roms..
Till now I have tried and got it working succesfully on Fusions cm10 kangs and Task/Ktoonez AOKP builds , but I do believe it should work on other cm10/aokp roms too..
So steps are fairly simple and here it goes :
1. Download the UMS 1.0 apk which is used as a TPA by many as a replacement. Many of U might have it , but for those who don't : https://www.dropbox.com/s/8490g42b01255t9/USB Mass Storage for JB.apk
2. Install the app. Open it .. it will take few seconds to get SuperUser permission.. then connect the USB connector and a notication will popup with blue androbot.. touch it and it will turn green to ur UMS will be connected.. Ensure that both internal and external SD are connected and accessible (Imp).
3. Turn off UMS and reboot the phone... Once booted up uninstall the UMS app
Reboot the phone again and then try to connect to USB again.. This time you will get prompted like this : (See screenshot)
4. Now u connect to the PC via UMS , and as always bot turns green.. Voila u have UMS now !!!
I do know some of you might have already been using this , and I don't boast it being a great discovery.. just something worth sharing for the unaware..
Cheers !!!
I wonder where that feature went. It don't matter to me because you can still transfer files including video and music to your phones. Without having to do those steps.
I would also assume you would have to do those steps every time you flash a new ROM or updated your old one. But thanks for the info

Yes.. u can still transfer videos, music etc using MTP.... but in my case MTP was quite iffy... randomly throwing write errors and sometimes only copying partial files..
Also one more issue that I was facing with MTP was , with every new rom install, I was not able to pre-existing files on External SD .. although it showed certain space as full.. it didn't show the contents.
So I researched and finally got this working this way.. using UMS I never have any issues mentioned above.. Thus this solution maybe more beneficial for guys having this issue like me
And to your question - yes u do have to follow this step with every new ROM install..
I believe the reason for getting rid of UMS was to consolidate internal and external memory to a single "drive" and that's why MTP is used. I don't know if that's completely accurate but that was my understanding. But I agree, I'm no fant of MTP.

I have no idea why MTP is implemented instead of UMS and I think u may be right on the money for the reason behind this, but I do know this -
MTP is really pain in the ass. U can't copy two files seperately at one time. Hell u can't even delete one file while copying other. Sure it does pull up both drives under same roof, but for cm10 its quite buggy for less fortunate like me
I hear ya brother
With UMS I had no issues. Now when copying over my music it fails with certain tracks stating the device was disconnected. Only those files though. It even warns me before the transfer that certain media files might not be playable. I accept the warning but if one of my tracks plays, they all should. My whole collection was ripped to mp3 personally using the same codec settings for all.
Currently on the CM10 2012.09.24 nightly.

MTP allows the filesystem to be changed without unmounting it from the operating system. This allows phone apps and processes that use any resources on the volume to continue to use them. With UMS, the volume is unmounted and mounted via USB to the computer. Another 'feature' of MTP is that it doesn't have to be removed like UMS. Since UMS mounts as a USB volume and most operating systems implement some form of write-caching with normal volumes, even though a copy operation 'completes', it may be cached, and not actually have completed copying data.
In Windows, removing the device via the tray icon tells Windows to finish any operations it has pending, close open files, and unmount the filesystem. If you remove the device before doing these things, you CAN get corrupted data. From my experience, this rarely happened, and never with small files. Then you get that annoying dialog every time you reconnect the device that the volume needs scanning, blah, blah...

Disclaimer: I have no knowledge of AOSP roms, or of the application in the OP. That being said...
File transfer behavior is governed by the system property /data/property/persist.sys.usb.config. This is a text file containing a single string. The settings are "mass_storage,adb" or "mtp, adb". Since this is a system file, it is necessary for the phone to be rooted, and then this file can be edited using a root file explorer. Change the text in the file to mtp,adb (without spaces), save the file, and reboot the phone. UMS, or USB Mass Storage is the first one. This is true for Samsung firmware.
