Please have a look at the photos,
Warranty does not cover physical or water damage.
No Crack or Scratches on LCD, just the gray casing around it.
Can someone please let me know if this is an easy fix.

Thank you
Unfortunately I don't think this is an easy fix. The screen and housing are bonded together with glue.
I managed to drop mine on my first day and had a nick in a similar position. I ended up getting this nice case that covers the edges so it doesn't show.

As previous poster says, I wouldn't try and repair it yourself. That would need a whole new digitizer/housing and isn't a simple repair.
Thank you, I got a quote for £144, that is from official Samsung Repair Center.
Why not just order a $8 bumper case/cover to mask the nicks?
I like the last picture where you can see that the phone bled out...
Im sure a fellow xda'er had the chrome replaced yesterday and unfortunately it is the whole front as well.

Any idea what I can do to get my beloved XDAII working again. anyone had any success chaning the screens?
Any help would be much apprecieated
no offense, mate, but OUCH! :!: given that the screen didn't crack...and with that awful black streak across the monitor...i wonder if this means that the actual lcd got busted....apologies as i didn't mean to rub salt on the wound.... cheers

Well, after you get it fixed, at least you have learned where NOT to keep your XDA.
http://www.pdasmart.com/ they do replacements seems a pretty reasonable price too.
thanks for suggesting PDASmart. Unfortuneately they do not supply a replacement LCD for the XDAII
Anyone else know where I can get it repaired? I dont want to spend another £400 on a new one.
i got my xda II from ebay for £260, £275 inlcuding delivery. you should check there if you do have to get a new one. but yeah, ouch

In looking at the PDASmart site it does seem they can replace the LCD, but only if you ship it to them.

Take a look there.
Hi there,
I got my Nook tablet today, and almost immediately noticed a fair amount of adhesive at the left bottom corner of the frame, and a bit further up the left side. I read that the inside of the device contains large amounts of adhesive, but is it normal for it to actually show outside the frame? I took a picture of it:

I'd try to clean it out of there, but it is rather rough stuff and I don't want to work it around too hard.
Thanks, Nir
Wow, that is completely unacceptable. You should exchange it immediately if it came that way.

Absolutely agree with Phonoob. Go get that thing exchanged asap!
Yea ide return it.

My thought too. Back it goes I guess, thanks for chiming in!
I'd say return it as well, but if you wanted to just clean it use Goo Gone or even lighter fluid.

And catch fire! Read the fine print. No harsh chemical should be used to clean product. Just return/exchange for new unit.
Dead Pixel
Take it back. Mine had a dead pixel or screen imperfection right in the middle and I took it back. Exchange was easy.
Hi all,
one fine day after turning the screen off and leaving on the bed.. went to shower, came back and saw this when i turn it on.

This is the corner where the light bleed issue is.
What are the chances that a stress point from bad manufacturing can cause this?
I've sent the unit back to ASUS servicing centre and their engineers are checking whether its user fault or manufacturing. (i'm pretty damn sure my bed didnt do this while i'm showering).
I've seen LCD damage that was a result of impact and it had crack lines from the impact point. Any suggestions/opinions on how this came about?
man that **** looks weird... no damage on the outside at all?
and you sure no one dropped it while you were in the shower?
Aww That is a cracked lcd panel. In my experience warranty never covers this, sadly... Guess you have to try to argue with Asus, if you`re 100% sure it wasn`t dropped etc.

This.
Sucks. Have a dog? Cat? GF? LCDs don't crack under normal usage. Was it exposed to the humidity from the shower?
doublepost
i was the only one at home at that time .. sigh.
I noticed today that when I tried to hit "e" button, it would hit "w" or "r" which was getting annoying. I thought maybe my build (Epinters JB) might have been having some problems.
Well after some reasearch, it looks like a line of my touchscreen is not functioning. Here is a screenshot from the Dev Tools "Pointer Location"

So my question is what options do I have... is it game over for my lovely Atrix? is this a fixable problem?
Thanks for the help!
The same thing happened on my EVO 3D. I replaced the digitizer and LCD and it works fine now. If you feel up to it you could purchase the parts and replace it yourself.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
I don't think there's any need to replace the LCD. Just the digitizer and it should be fine.
Where can I find the proper item? Did you follow specific directions?

You can find it in ebay, search for 'atrix digitizer', a friend of mine bought one a few months back for less than 40 USD.
As for how to do it, here is a good tutorial.
I purchased an oem one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053EYGEO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 I bought one before and it was not oem. Attracted more fingerprints, broke rather easy, and didnt have tint where the sensors were. So I recommend paying the extra couple bucks for oem. The seller I got it from (Seller1on1) actually issued me an RMA because i broke the ribbon cable by mistake. Which definitely scored some serious brownie points. Just be careful you don't buy an inferior or refurbished product.
hi,
do you guys know where one can buy the metal back plate online? i have some serious scratches on it and i would like to change it with a new one.
Thanks!
Anyone?

All I got was the link below but this seems like its only for manufacturers.

I have a spare P6800...the screen is cracked and the Sim port is somewhat damaged.
Otherwise the unit still works, I am willing to sell it for the spare parts if you are interested.

Again, hard to see but there is a crack across the screen...sim damaged, not sure if it can be repaired...Backcover is in good condition and tab works.
Can include Samsung bookcover.
Will put on eBay if I can't sell here...
