Hi,
I've updated my Xperia S (LT26i) to version 6.0.A.3.75.
the probelm and i had it also with the previous version, the screen does not turn off.
Display settings are set to turn off at 15sec or 30sec but it nevers happens. Does anybody has had this kind of issue. This causes of course a rapid drain of the battery.
Regards
I am having the same problem for some days as the device will shuts down by itself (for which u cant do anything unless a hard reset volumeUP+PowerButton) or else will turn off and on by itself..really need a solution for it? Was surprise to see that there are still no solution for it neither any precise reason given for which it might be happening!

I finally did the upgrade to 6.1.A.2.45 and it solved my issue. two days without charging

Hi. The phone application was not functioning well and the F/C dialog showed up. I powered off the phone and from that point, the phone won't turn on.
The battery was fully charged before this happened.
When I press the power button, the phone vibrates for half a second, the screen brightens up but does not show anything but a black screen.
I removed SIM and SD cards, removed the battery and performed the above steps but nothing happened.
I also tried to put on the charger to see what's going on. Once I plug the charger, the phone's screen brightens but shows only blank (even without pressing the power button)
When connected to the charger, the green light for charging is on for some minutes, then goes off automatically.
I tried to connect it to the PC, and PC Companion finds the device as usually. It even shows the dialog on the pc screen to mount the device.
I tried a hard reset, but does not work
On some point, the sony logo appeared and then a dialog saying: "sorry process system is not responding". The first time I pressed Force Close and the phone turned off. Immediately after that, the phone turned on and showed the exact message. I pressed "Wait" but nothing happened in the next 15 minutes.
I called Sony's support center and they suggested a software update. Did the process exactly as it should, but again, even after the software update the screen shows nothing but black. It is all the time brightened for some reason.
I tried to turn off the phone for some time by removing the battery, but as soon as I put the battery back on, the phone's screen brightens and stays that way forever.
The phone was functioning perfectly up until this issue. The only application I had installed apart from some games, was AWDLauncher. On the screen I had only a TASK widget and a battery status widget.
The phone is 3 months old and has been always in perfect condition.
ANY help would be appreciated!!!!
Many Thanks
Try to format phone with this method hope it should work as it seems the issue is with OS only ..

I tried the steps found in the link you gave me, but I couldn't go any further after step no (5) from the tutorial, as it would require to enable Debugging mode and I cannot access the OS (since the device won't turn on).
Is there a way to format all the contents of the device and have them replaced by running SEUS (as it always says that my device is up to date now)?
Was it this:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup.../detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en
That Sony Ericsson told you to do?
If not, use that.
Download it, follow the steps when it says you have the latest version, press "Install Anyway".
Hope this works.
Hi itTim. thanks for the response
this is what i did but no improvement at all ((
Sounds like you broke your LCD screen somehow.
That would suck because I broke mine and it cost me $200 to fix.
Hi Hypercore.
Yes that could be the problem. The thing is that I always took rally good care of the phone, always carried in a leather pouch and never droped it. How sensitive is this lcd anyway?? Did you notice any cracks on your lcd or was the problem simillar to mine?
Thanks
When you turn on the phone does the lcd backlight turn on?
If so, look for any faint lines of color (usually a hairline size). If you see any of those then your screen is cracked.
the backlight is on, but there are no lines of colour on the lcd screen.
another weird thing is that the green light on the top blinks one or two times every time i put on the battery. even if the phone is off, once I insert the battery turns on automatically after a couple of seconds.
If all else fails you could try to flash back to your original fw with the tools here:

That won't do anything.
I had almost the same issue. Nothing worked. But, when I removed the battery and left it for a day (24h) without it, it just started working again. Still working without issues..
Good luck!

Phones are very wierd pieces of technology. I once bricked my k610i and that's a phone that's supposed to be impossible to un-brick, but out of nowhere a month or so later i picked it up, hit power and it turned on perfectly. Made no sense at all, but it worked.
Taking the battery out for a long time probably took all the electrical charges from it (kind of like how a computer power supply / monitor can hold power charges) and reset your handset.

Indeed. It could be a frozen chip, memory fault, power-regulator and so on.

if you have done this and did not worked , then it is the LCD.
send it to workshop and check it there.
Guys i Really need the solve of this problem , my xperia has blank screen now without backlight and the phone completely doesn't work . when i put the battery and prees the switch botton it gives me 3 red signals , i've updated and hard reset but it didn't work , and btw the LCD is fine , any idea. did removing the battery worked???? . please answer
After a looooot of time since my latest post, finally my Xperia came back to life. There was a battery failure which means the phone was ok all the time. Weird thing is that the led light showed that the battery was charging ok. I removed the battery and after a lot of time it is working ok again. This was really really odd.
FYI for anyone else that gets this issue.
I just had this for the past hour after trying to change my baseband....could not get it back for anything.
What I did finally try was run another baseband via flash tool, connected to usb and it started flashing....after flash phone powered on again...yeah I agree with everyone, that is freaking scary when it happens.
I've recently acquired a S2, with Stock 2.3.3 Rom.
I've encountered a strange problem: when the phone goes in standby mode (the lock screen appears), the screen turns off but immediately turns on again. Then it goes off, on again etc. So, basically, the phone cannot go to deep sleep and my battery drains very fast (and, the screen just keeps on flashing).
When the phone is plugged in mains power, the screen stays lit, it looks like it is just in standby mode.
It looks like there is some sensor stuck which re-awakens the phone constantly. There are no apps runnning, just a factory-clean phone. I've tried looking at sensor data to identify the problem, but have no idea what they should look like.
Does anyone have any idea how to proceed? Is there any way to force the phone in standby (or, force the screen to off)? Or can I identify what event is responsible for waking my phone all the time?
I have a similar problem with my HTC HD2 (both with normal and Android hack)
Anyone have a solution?
if you are not rooted maybe try going into recovery wipe everything and get the phone back to factory settings..before you do that of course back up your rom..see what happens..or maybe can you try and upgrade firmware either through kies or try an official stock rom based on your region through Intratechs thread and update using odin and see if that helps solve the problem?
or just call your local samsung customer care explain what the problem is and send it either for repairs or for an exchange
Had the same problem, Flashed intratech's stock Based on my region solved the problem.
I have a friend of mine having this issue, maybe he should try the same. Thanks msac =)

Thanks in advance.
I have the same issue
hi
I have the same issue, every time my sony tablet s is in stand by mode it keeps turning on and than times out after a while and turns off again but it will keep doing that until the batery is empty.
That means that i have to keep it turned off in order for the batery not to drain but that is irritating as it takes ages to boot.
If someone has a solution please let me know.
I recently updated to ICS and that is when the issue started.
Br,

I have CM 7.2 installed with CWM Touch Recovery.
My phone has about 1 year and since a few weeks ago I started to find my phone off or totally unresponsive (same as off, I can't say).
The only way to get it back is remove the battery and try several times to put it back while holding the power button down.
Sometimes it doesn't even work and I have to try about 20 times or more.
The phone is not hot and it happens (at least 100% of times 'til now) when is asleep and not during CPU "hard work".
I was wondering if someone has experienced this behaviour and hopefully found a solution.
Thanks
I believe you are experiencing the dreaded Sleep of Death.
If possible, try to flash a new ROM and see if it happens. If it continues, try to go back to stock and see if it still continues because if that's the case then its a hardware problem.

Thanks for your reply.
I had some reboots trying CM9 and CM10 so I went back to CM7.2 which is great.
I then noticed that reboot didn't worked anymore (e.g. going to recovery mode caused sleep to death not restarting the phone).
Since a few days ago I started to experience the "sleep to death" and so I tried to flash a clean Neutrino to fix a potential SW issue.
The SOD frequency was even higher and the difficulty to restart the phone even more.
I want back again to CM7.2 and now I still have the problem but "only" a few times a day.
I believe is an hardware issue but I have no warranty anymore and so I have no idea how much I would pay to get new hardware components...
It's a pity, I was quite happy about everything else and going to stay with it for a long time (also thanks to XDA and Cyanogen Developers).
Cheers,
Max

By that you mean that the green led does not even light up when you try to switch on? Oh dear.. Might be a damaged Motherboard...

Exactly.. a few days ago I was able to reanimate the phone by trying several time to reinsert the battery while holding the power switch on.
After a few time, the phone was eventually booting.
Since this morning though, code blue... the seems to be dead.
The only life sign is when, 1 time out of several, I connect USB cable to the phone and the led turns green (fixed). That's it..
It stays green even if I disconnect the cable (battery should be charged) until I remove the battery.
I think this is pretty much every symptom I noticed, here for sharing.

Those events from a few days ago (when you were still able to turn it on by performing battery acrobatics) should have been a red flag for you - sadly your phone was dying.
Seems now it's officially dead. Not much more you can do. You can take it to a service center, see if they can do anything, but don't hold your breath.

I'm going to Motorola Service tonight, I'll share the result hoping that it may help someone else to avoid to brick the phone.
Thanks anyway for you interest, I love Internet for making possible to share even these little experiences with someone I most likely will never see in my life.

Hello,
My tablet S shuts down for no reason. I turn it on, and after a while (the time is always different) it shuts down. Does not reboot. Just shuts down.
Sometimes it shuts down right on the unlock screen, sometimes it let's me work with it for around one minute / one minute and a half - it depends.
The strange thing is that if I delete some apps, after it shuts down and I turn it on again, the apps that I deleted are there again. I tried to reset to factory but with no sucess.
Does anyone have a similar problem, or knows why this happens. Sony did not know how to repair it, neither 3rd party houses. One of them said it was the graphic driver, but i found that strange. Could ir be?
Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same issue, also started around mid Sept 2015. Also not possible to remove apps or do a factory reset. Tried Condi's unbricker: nothing changed. Tried AIO scripts: nothing changed. I am clueless.... If you know more about this issue, please let me know. Factory warranty has just ended and Sony is charging me 195EUR pickup & investigation cost. Ridiculous!

Well, hell. Looks like we are doomed. It's really a shame because despite everything I liked the tablet and used it a lot to read e-books.
I guess all hope is lost.
