After a long process of checking the forums and reading on the numerous ways to add a car dock/mount for the asus tf101, i took it upon myself to revert back to custom install days. What i did was purchase a Car Kit Swivel Air Vent with Super Strong Slim Holder for Asus Eee Transformer TF101 from ultimate-mobiles.co.uk. I didn't want to mount the vent adapter so i cut holes on the side of the dash and placed the tablet hold portion into the dash. What i used was a filing kit, a hand saw, a razor, a screwdriver, and some cotter pins. about 4 hours i had a finished product. Its not perfect but im sure you can tell from the photos.
I can slide the tablet in and out securely with no problem. the left side i had to cut the tab off next to the volume button. This wasn't the best dock cause it was made for the vertical position. I should have order this dock, Strong Windscreen Suction Mount Holder for Asus Eee Transformer TF101, which was made for the horizontal position. But in the end it still worked out like i wanted it to. Oh and by the way the dash pieces i used where extras, i went to a junk yard and found another mustang and took those piece for $5. Sorry for no hyperlinks but im restricted cause of less then 10 post.
Finally here are the pictures.

Nice job on this DIY setup, i just wussed out and bought one of those flexible neck seatbolt mounts, and it wobbles like a mofo.

That's nice. I just got the ExoGear mount. Not my favorite setup but it will work for now in my escape.
Hoping to get an F150 one of these days and then I'll look into mounting it into the dash somehow.
Again, nice work though. Minimal is best!

You might be able to run a line from the headphone jack to an amp hidden in the dash, but that might not look so good. Might not sound so good, either, if the TF doesn't put out enough to drive the amp. Is there room behind the dash to hide a small head unit with bluetooth?
Looks pretty good as it is really. What are you using for power? I was looking for a car charger for the TF for a while but gave up after nothing really worked. That was a long time ago though.
Same idea here :highfive:

Asus has a whole host of accessories on tap for the hot Transformer tablet/netbook. The keyboard dock was just the beginning. There’s a desktop dock, HDMI-VGA adapter, a very iPad-ish looking folio case, and an adapter to plug in a USB flash drive. Asus has yet to make these official so no word on pricing or availability. They appeared on Asus’ Italian Facebook page about four hours ago. The only thing missing now are the actual Transformers. They’re sold out everywhere and backordered out to nearly irrelevance. Well, there’s always the Xoom. There are plenty of those available along with their entire range of accessories.

Well the keyboard is missing too...
I was lucky enough to get a tablet, but still have no idea when the thing will actually be a "Transformer".
Interesting to see what's in store for us. Thanks for linking.
Hopefully these take off more than the viewsonic g-tablet official accessories that never came to fruition.
really nice to see these accessories for those who don't buy the keyboard. especially the dock and case. Actually bought the sleeve case myself considering god knows when i'll get the keyboard.
I like the USB adapter!!
I kind of wish they would sell extra data/charging cables
Here is also a better article with more info a pictures (Italian)

I would like another power cord. This this appears to be proprietary and if it gets lost, there's no charging the damn thing. I don't care if it's only 2 foot long, I'd like another cable.
Looks like Asus is gonna make a bundle off me. Hope there will be accessories from 3rd party soon.
Hmm!
One of each I think! Except maybe not the SD card reader.
But given that the price of the simplest one is quite high I guess theyre going to be a bit pricey!

I agree, this has been way over-looked, If I damage or loose my existing cable I'm stuffed, don't want to be in that situation.
Hopefully some 3rd party will start pumping them out on eBay or the likes soon.

So when you dock the tablet, you don't need to fiddle wit find the mini hdmi cable just to get a full desktop replacement.
I'm actually very excited to get the SD adapter (wish this was on the tablet instead of the miniSD). I'd like to do some quick photo editing right after shooting.
i wonder if the USB port will work with game controllers and other USB stuff like 3.1 will allow.
Im interested in the USB dongle.
Would this mean that we can have external storage like a HD preloaded with media?
If so, it would be perfect for road trips to load movies on a drive and have the munchkins entertained..
On that note: anything out there that allows the tablet to hang/attach to the headrest on a car seat?

So as promised here are the pictures and a couple of videos of my transformer mounted in my 2007 BMW 335i. I used a Pro Clip and Pad Tab to install it. Also used a blackberry gateway to connect the audio via bluetooth to my car stereo. All the wires mess is hidden in the arm rest compartment. So far its great and sturdy as you can see from the videos, loving my transformer even more now

Pro clip for your specific car can be bought from www.proclipusa.com and Pad Tab can be bought from www.thepadtab.com
I might have to do this in my Challenger. Looks like they do have the vent attachments for it.
best part of this thread was now we dance alors remix in the vid LOL
I'm hoping to do this today actually. I have an 06 325i. I wanna mount my nook color. Can you help me make sure I order the right parts? Looks like the pro-clip site makes it sound like I need a mount and a holder. Did you simply replace the holder part with the pad tab?
I know this will come across as lazy rather than cautious, but would you be kind enough to help me get what is needed for the nook color? I'm really hoping this isn't going to be a pain in the ass with my car being a 6 speed standard.
Awesome work. I've been drooling over this since you posted it!
So I just ordered the pad tab for $25 shipped.
Then it's only the MOUNT from pro-clip that I need, NOT the holder right? If so I'll be good to go

Also make sure when ordering the mount that u order the right one, is your bmw with navigation? do u want an angled mount or a straight mount like mine is? Here are the ones for your car:
http://bit.ly/jgydgd
Thanks. Yeah I want the straight one to avoid bothering my stick shift. I don't like that it covers the DTC button, but realistically I'd never DTC with a tablet mounted anyway haha.
I ordered it earlier this morning. I looked more carefully at your pics and they answered all my questions....DERP!
I'll post pics once it shows up.
I ordered the wood trim since that's what I've got, but how the hell would it be any different than the aluminum trim? I was planning on replacing the trim with carbon fiber eventually, so now just one more hurdle. No biggie!
This looks amazing man. I'm really tempted to get this set up for my 02' RL. Is it pretty sturdy during driving?
With my original samsung 10.1, Newegg sent me a free docking keyboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875998866). Will this work with the galaxy tab 2 10.1? I hope so.
Well took a look at the thickness and it appears that the original tabs were 0.34 and the tab 2 is 0.38. Man that is close

I do not have it yet. While I was waiting for a reply I did find a thread where someone stated they could get it in there but it was really tight. Not sure if I would like putting that much stress on it.
The dock Connector is in the same spot but it is a snug fit and it does need to be forced our it will not fit

Maybe some careful work with a Dremel would do the trick?
Not sure if I would want to do that. I guess when it comes in I will try it and see what happens. If way too tight I will just cry and move on.
Tried the samsung dock. I don't think it's worth it to try to force the tablet into the dock. I went out and bought a Bluetooth keyboard
Sorry to hear it did not work out for you. So which keyboard did you end up getting? I'm considering getting a keyboard also.
I'm going to try sanding an old dock with Dremel, as someone suggested. Will keep you posted.
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda premium
I was on the road this week and used the OTG USB adapter and a small USB keyboard along with either a stand or my portfolio case. Here's the trick. Put the tablet upside down so the connector is on the top. The screen rotates so you don't care. You have to be careful not to put the device such that the volume buttons get mashed down, but otherwise that's not a problem. The USB port is now on top and you can plug the keyboard in and type.
Not perfect because you can't charge and type at the same time, but not bad for a "field expedient!"
Dremel did the trick
I did some light sanding, grinding and brushing with a Dremel tool, that worked perfectly. I needed about .9mm in thickness and .1mm in width. After about 30 mins work, I was able to fit my P5100 into a dock belonging to a P7500. It now slips in and out perfectly, and will not damage the finish on the tablet.
If you're not confident with a Dremel, you could also use some low gauge sandpaper, which will also work, since there's very little to be adjusted. Be sure to concentrate on the parts protruding from the surface for the corners of the tablet.
Ah, no pics?
I'll post some better ones tomorrow. As you might be able to see, the finish isn't all that great, but it is pretty smooth so it won't scratch the Tab. The tab fits completely clean, shaking the dock does not affect connectivity, all keys work. I'll work on that some more with a rubber attachment or a polisher and post some updates. Here's what I've done so far.

Very nice!!! I bought the dock with my P5113 thinking that they were direct plug and play and didn't realize that the Tab didn't fit in the dock connector.
I've removed the piece that holds the tab in the dock for now and am typing on the keyboard successfully. I'll probably have to do the same thing you did to modify the dock for a proper fit as I'm intending to use the Tab/keyboard combo as a laptop replacement in college this year.

This isn't a docking keyboard, but this is what I finally decided I am getting. What sold me is the size (this is a portable tablet, why do I want a non-portable keyboard?), the fact that is has a mouse nub, and the nice case it comes with which doubles as a tablet stand.

I assume you referring the student edition that released that includes , keyboard and usb adapter.Judging from the pictures of the keyboard I would guess it will not properly due to that part where tablet docks. It sticks up a bit which seems like it would not allow the tablet case to close as the dock connector would be in the screen. That's only my assumption from the pictures I've seen.

Thank you for your speedy reply. Please forgive my ignorance, I don't know what you mean by "student edition". I am probably wrong but I thought the user would unplug the usb and tuck it in the spine area of the cover before closing it. Of course that comes from not remembering where the usb is on the SGT2 but thinking it would be a good habit in general. As I had said I haven't gotten this tablet yet, the check is in the mail as they say. I do have a Nook Tablet that I rooted back the end of December that will be going to my mother as I want to "move up" in my choice of tablets. I would prefer the Samsung Galaxy Note S. I am short on part of the money so that is another determining factor if I should forget the SGT2 and a keyboard and save for the Note and basically not have to worry to match about needing a keyboard. Again Thank You! for your speedy reply. I will continue to look over those pictures to see what I can understand from them.

Mine is the stock dock and it goes to portrait easily.
Am I missing something?
I'm not using the stock mount, just the dock itself. It's mounted with a universal mount that doesn't swivel. I recommend the craigsdock because overall, its much nicer than the iBolt.
I use this iBolt ProDock. Fits the extended battery nicely. Hoping it lasts because I am tired of buying a new dock if and when I buy a new phone.

I have the CraigsDocks dock as well. Not only is it universal, and made of aluminum instead of plastic, but it is made by a guy who has outstanding character. I bought one of the original docks, and it worked fine. It ended up on the floor of my car (kids...) and got bent. When I tried to straighten it, I broke it. I contacted Craig to inquire about a new piece for it, and a new suction cup mount (he doesn't make these, just sells them as a courtesy), and he said that he had made improvements since I got mine, and that he was unhappy with the strength of the original ones, so he sent me out an entire new dock, cable and all. Talk about going above and beyond... I BROKE IT, and told him so, but he still felt he was responsible and sent me a new one. He WILL get more business if I ever need another dock, and I will sing his praises here as well!!!

Hello Guys!
I just bought my LGOG and I'm waiting for it in the mail. While it arrives, I've been looking for a dock that supports the phone but haven't found anything yet.
Have you guys know of any Dock that works and fits this phone? I was thinking of getting one of these but I'm not sure it will fit since it's for the S3:

What do you guys think?
yeah I`m about ready to order a desktop dock for a note or note 2 and try it out, I just want it for my night stand, like this one its suppose to have a compliant mico usb so it will flex and move with different thickness of phones still on the fence about it

here`s a dock I just bought from Amazon, the EZO dock it has adjustable front to back usb connector has soft pad for the back and front, looks like it would work with no problem if you had TPU case on your phone, but I use a neoprene slip pouch for my phone so I don`t have case that stays on the phone. pics are below

Probably be easier to get the coil from the Palm Pre (and cheaper to get parts). But I don't think it charges via the qi standard and you would have to use the TouchStone Charger.

Has anyone tried the S3 Dock? I don't think the dimensions are too large for the Optimus G.
i have this one universal dock. it works very nicely. the dock isn't confined to a single device so we wouldn't have to worry out phones being too big.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered one. I hope one of the devs can tweak a kernel so that we can play audio out of the micro USB the way the GS3 and Note 2 can. *ahem*
Does that universal dock work with a tpu case?

it should work, cause i have this case and it fits fine because the usb portion of the dock does protrude out a bit.
