PARANOIDANDROID [2.00] [aug28] does not play music! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

[JB:CM10:HYBRD] PARANOIDANDROID [2.00] - a change is a foot.. - [aug28]...does not play music. As you can see from the picture I have uploaded I am a bit curious on how to fix this situation. I do not want to post my question in the original forum, since I am not supposed to so I dropped it in here hoping for some help thank you guys!

I was on king kang, restored a backup and got this on play music. I thought my SD card was corrupted at first, but installed android player and it worked fine. I tried all the usual stuff and nothing made Google music work. Now on Manuel's cm10, and still using android player.

Hey, we're over here: ParanoidAndroid CM10Hybrid by JamieD81 Q & A
I've got a little more time for bug hunting if you can repost there. Otherwise someone else may be able to help until I get back tomorrow.

Mine doesn't play music either. Google music or Apollo. Causes my phone to freeze the soft boot.

Try this worked for me.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling google music and your other music players. It worked for me.

Force close your music apps. They should work after that.

Force close only made the problem reappear after reboot for me. Complete uninstall reinstall seems permanent.

[Q] Problem with Navigation i777 Cognition X2

I apologize beforehand for my noobiness. I wanted to post my question on the development forum but I wasn't allowed to because I'm completely new to xda. I tried to search the Cognition forum but I came up empty. I took a few hours to try to find the answer myself but to no avail.
I successfully rooted and installed Cognition X2 and modified it so that messages don't appear in the call log. When I use Navigation, it starts out fine, but after a few minutes, it starts saying, "XML version 1.0, [blah blah] h t t p:// [blah blah]," repeating itself for several minutes. Then it'll be back to normal for a few minutes before it starts spewing that whatever-it-is. I'm sorry I cant recall all of what it says but please don't hold it against me as I am driving when it happens.
Is there a not-too-complicated fix for this? Thanks!
edit: I should add that this doesn't happen when I just test it at home, i.e., I'm not actually moving or progressing through the turn-by-turn
I'm new to android as well, maybe wiping everything and reinstalling would help?
Are you using the Samsung speech engine? I have read that switching to pico or another 3rd party engine like svox fixes this problem... I use svox and have not run into this issue...

thanks but I'd like to avoid a drastic (and annoying) move like that which may or may not work unless I have to.

I'm pretty sure I've been using the preloaded Tico engine. Can't check right now because I don't have the phone around. If not, I'll try the switch.
There are two speech engines preloaded out of the box. Samsung and Pico. If I remember correctly, Samsung was the default when I first booted up... Give pico or Svox a shot and let us know how it goes..

+1. Try Svox. Its worked the best for me, personally.
Just tried it out and it seems to have gotten rid of the problem. Thanks. But damn, Pico sounds terrible! Guess I'll look into Svox. I wonder why I didn't see any threads about this when I searched. I was assuming it was an issue with the custom rom so I was probably being too specific with my search.
Also, forgive me for being lazy, but how do I do that signature thing that lists the devices I've used?
Yea, Pico sucks as far as the voice goes. Stephen Hawking sounds like Pavarotti compared to it...LOL. Avocados has some cheap voices that sound more natural...

Preview icons not showing in gallery

I tried the ICS rom in development and during it I noticed my pics/videos were not showing up in the gallery. I figured this was a rom specific problem. However upon restore a backup, the same problem is present. I tried rebooting, and triggering media scanner but still nothing.
Any ideas?

Unfortunately it didn't work, thank you though. I'm not sure what the cause could be. I can open the media files, pictures and videos but can't see the preview before opening them. So it's annoying not knowing what is what until I open it.

Considering that we don't yet have an actual ICS ROM for this phone, you should expect some glitches.

That didn't work but thank you. I now got it working by just deleting gallery after making a titanium backup. Rebooted restored and it is now working. Thank you, that suggestion lead to the correct one.

Dude, you are Mount Asshole. I said nothing in my original reply or the one after that could be considered a personal attack to warrant what you have said to me. I simply said that when you are working with unofficial ROMs such as ICS that you should expect to run into some issues. Nothing more, nothing less. You decided to respond with all kinds of nastiness (and an obvious sense of entitlement) for no apparent reason. Perhaps you need a thicker skin if you plan on using the internet in the future. Jerk.
In before the lock. let the conversation continue.

Well first off have you tried the app Rescan Media?
I had this same problem ran this and it fixed the issue..
If this does not fix your issue then you have an errant picture in your media directory. To fix this..
Remove all pictures from your gallery and back them up to your computer
Copy a few back to your phone and have it rescan see if it shows you them in the gallery.. If so then you know it is a picture issue.. Start adding them back in groups and find the errant photo.
Let me know if this helps..

I did try the app and it didn't work. I solved the problem by deleting the gallery app and reinstalling in titanium. Thank you for your help though

There was a problem while playing. Touch to retry.

When I try to watch YouTube videos, I get the error mentioned above after three or four tries it takes at loading the video. This occurs no matter what ROM I'm on, or what version of YouTube I use. Sometimes after I switch ROMs I get about 10 minutes of video playback, but then I get the error. Thank you!

I've got the same problem. Whenever I try to play a YouTube video (doesn't matter if it's on the YouTube app, or the website) I get the "Touch to retry" error. However it was running smoothly just a week ago. The only change I made was installing the Semaphore JB 2.9.8 kernel. Is it possible that the kernel has caused this problem? I'm running CM 10.1 on my Galaxy i9000.

Well the search didn't get me to the semaphore thread and the semaphore was only a guess, so there's no need to be mean.

Well, you said you applied semaphore, what is te problem.to read its op then? If you would do so then you would not have that problem.

Are you guys still having problems with the simpsons tapped out game on the very latest CM10.1 (4.2.2)?
I did a full wipe on my phone and went back to 4.2.1 and it all seems to be working fine again, I lost my game progress though and had to start over!
I would however like to get the latest CM10.1 but want to know if the game works on it. Thanks.

Hey guys,
I am having the same problem, after around 30 seconds the phone completely freezes and I have to do a hard reset.
It works without problems on a Nexus S with Android 4.2.1.
I tried to see whats happening via logcat, but it disconnects as soon as the phone freezes. And the logs are cleared after a reboot.
If anyone can give me instructions how to debug such an issue I am glad to help out.
Thanks
Is there any solution for the problem ?

This is a CyanogenMod 10.1 bug.Simply do what I do...Flash DorimanX kernel,and dual-boot.Install CyanogenMod based ROM as first,and a Sammy,or 4.1.2 ROM as 2nd.When you want to play games,simply reboot into the 2nd ROM.This is an annoying bug,and that's the only fix I found.Hopefully They'll fiz it in CM 10.2
Thank you this is really annoying ...

Has it been solved yet? I encounter that game crashes also on CM10.2 with android 4.3.1 on Samsung galaxy s2. Really anoying, I'm glad I have also tablet, but without 3G and sometimes I would like to play Simpsons out of wifi signal range... Any solution? Except hard reset or flashing another kernel. thx
nope..
I've just put Cyanogen 11 (Kitkat 4.4.2) mod on my Samsung GS2 to 'debrand' (worked lovely btw) but then found this thread - looks like Simpsons and cyanogen haven got on for some time after repeated attempts to force stop, clear cache, uninstall and reinstall its still not working - welcome screen then blank screen then back to home screen with Simpsons has stopped report or OK... Never mind I can live without it but just in case people were waiting to see if the latest cyanogen fixed the problem, it doesn't right now but I believe the kitkat mod is still in its infancy so maybe in future updates it may get sorted but tbh I can't see this being top of their to fix list...
Fixed!
Hi guys
Good news for you Simpsons tapped out fans. I am running Cyanogens official kitkit nightly now on my Samsung galaxy s2 i9100 (cm11 20140205 nightly) and thought I would give it another go so downloaded the app again fresh from the app store and it loads no problem! Downloaded the updates on the splash screen as well no problem but I was unable to sign into origin (said servers were not available), simply rebooted the phone and the login to origin worked and my game is back where i left it! Happy chappy
I've been running a January nightly, just so I could play Tapped Out! Thanks for the update, I'm flashing a new nightly! woo-hoo!

I can't login in any game to use Google Play Games

Hi!
I can't connect to the new services of Google Play Games with any games, I tried SuperStickMan Golf 2 and some more and all are left with a white screen (loading) until the sign in fails ("unknown error" for example).
I have Hangouts running (that use the newest version of Google Play Services) and a Google+ account linked to the google phone account.
Have a International rooted Galaxy Note 2 with Android Revolution v17.
Anyone else with this problem?
Thanks
EDIT: A Wipe Data and flashing new ROM (Wanam) fixed the problem temporarily.
But right now I still can't access any other game. Only StickManGolf is still working with Google Play Games functions, although I clear data WTF!!
And the worst is that I find no information about this problem
This wont help at all but im running wanam's n7105 version of his rom on my phone and i logged in successfully with riptidegp and world of goo and i didnt have hangouts installed but i did install the game service from android headlines. So they do work i guess

Finally got a solution if it doesn't let you pick your friends on the player list, I emailed them and they gave me the answer. For some reason the game isn't seeing your circles, but I believe I've found the solution.
First, log in to Google+ on your computer. In the upper left area of the screen you'll see the "Home" button. Hover your mouse over it and a window will slide into view from the left. Select "Settings" at the bottom. Next, scroll down to "Apps" and select "Manage Apps". In the white box, hover your mouse over PBA Bowling Challenge, then click on the Pencil icon that appears to the right to "Edit App". Select "Advanced Connection Settings". A window should pop up showing you all the circles that the game can see, so you can select to add your circles from here. Please note that it might take a little while for the changes on the website to show up in the game.
