HELP My Galasy SGH-1777 Won't go into Download Mode - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hello, I recently downgraded my Galaxy SGH-1777 back to Gingerbred since my Mystic's Glory 4.1 went beserk on me. The new one is 1777uckk6 and now I wanna switch to Cyanogen but my phone wont access Download Mode (Volume up+Power). If you know a way to reboot the system to download mode please let me know!

Do you have your cable plugged into phone and computer?

Vol up plus power will not put an I777 into download mode.
With the phone off, continuously hold vol + and vol - while plugging in the usb cable.

Try shutting off the phone holding the volume up button then plug in usb cord if that does notwork you may want to think about geeting or making a usb jig to get into usb mode

You have to be holding the up/down vol keys when you plug it in.
Not all methods of accessing Download Mode have been added to the numerous stickied OP's about this issue, so here's a link to the procedure that works on mine:

that's the only thing that works but my comp wont recognize it and i installed the drivers and nothing also when i plug the phone into my comp the usb mounting icon doesn't pop up on the phone, so frustrated
The way I do it and it does work is two ways.
Of course make sure your drivers are installed
Turn off phone
Plug in USB cable to PC only
Hold Vol +/-
Plug in USB to phone
Wait a second and let go of Vol +/-
or
Download Terminal Emulator
Type
su
reboot download
I ran into this problem the other day as well. Instead of holding down the power button and both Volume + and -. Try just holding down the power button and Volume -. This worked for me. Every tutorial said to hold down both Volume + and -, but everytime I did it just took me to the "phone...!... computer" screen.

Have you tried to Leave Odin Open. Then Plug the USB. While the USB is plugged in and Odin running press and hold volume down + Home + Power. Once the black screen comes release the Power Button.

Question About GB and Download Mode

I started the process to install one of the more stock gingerbread roms(Revolution Rom RC1). From cm7 I flashed the GB bootloader via odin, it finished, i then restated the phone to bring it into download mode again to install the JVH PDA. But i could not get back into download mode and still cannot. I can still use cm7 but just cannot access download mode. I have tried all of the 3 button methods and using terminal su, then reboot download, both methods just reboot the phone, anyone know how i can get to the new rom ?
Two buttons....
volume up + power
You don't like op's do you.
This method works every time for me:
1. Turn Phone Off
2.) Plug USB cable into computer (but not the phone for now)
3.) press and hold the Vol +& - button
4.) Plug in the USB cable to your phone.

This is what I generally use too but with the Gingerbread bootloaders just use Volume up.

If you don't plug in the USB cable, yes. With the quoted method though, plugging in the USB cable acts as power on so the power button does not need to be touched.

I have always used the following and never had it fail:
With a device that is turned off:
Hold VolUp + VolDn
Insert USB cable - no need to hit Power
VolUp + VolDn + Power with no USB cable inserted will put you into recovery mode (3e for stock kernels, CWM for custom kernels). Note that you need to let go of Power when the screen turns on but keep holding VolUp + VolDn.
With a device that is turned on, I usually do "adb reboot download".
That button combo works for the i9100 version of the phone.
For the i777 our att version it its
1. Make sure phone is powered off
2. Have the USB cable attached to your computer but NOT your phone yet
3. Hold down both volume up and down (do NOT touch the power button) and plug in your USB to your phone
4. Accept the warning that flashing custom modified software your phone could cause problems
And bingo your in download mode
Or optionally buy our make a USB jig which will put phone intro download mode and reset your binary flash counter.

For anyone like me that finds this thread, With my I777 you had to hold power, vol up, and home. Hit accept and then you could plug in.

Not sure, I did it on windows using ODIN to flash a custom recovery. Then used the recovery to load and install new ROMs
