Can't update .62 over OTA after rooting .42 on Neo, HELP! - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Greetings all, I wanted to root my Xperia Neo whose bootloader was unlocked. I flashed it with .42 firmware using flashtool and then rooted it with DoomLord toolkit, uninstalled all bloatwares using titnium backup and then relocked my bootloader. At the end I tried update to .62 over OTA but it fails Update center downloads the firmware properly but when it fails to install on my Neo. What should I do? please help
Thanks in advance..

just download a .62 ftf and flash it.. dont bother about the OTA..

nicks25:
Flash version .42
Root via Doomlord's method
KEEP THE PHONE SW UNTOUCHED!
Make OTA update to version .62
Now you can remove bloatware.

and after that unlock your BL and root it by flashing superuser.zip trough CWM.

@CZMagic thanks buddy, it worked. and before I read my answers here on this forum, I had already done the process said by u.
The mistake I was doing was that I altered .42 firmware by removing bloatwares first and then I was doing OTA update for .62 firmware.
that's wrong way.
So if somebody facing the same problem, kindly do the following,
1> flash .42 firmware ( latest flashtool version might not read this firmware, so I used some old version v6.x.x )
2>Then do Rooting by DooMLord method
3>Re-lock the bootloader
4>update firmware to .62 over the OTA
5>install titanium backup from market which is free or get root explorer from 4shared freely
6> Uninstall the bloatware, All done!
P.S: Hit the thanks button

flashing .62 FW with flashtool loses the root access duh, but OTA doesn't. That's why OTA is recommended..

[FIXED] How to use flashtool without loosing root?

I searched a lot for generic FTF files for Xperia mini and I find two useful firmware in this forum:
1- 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware and I can flash with it and root but It's not global firmware (I cant find right to left languages like Arabic)
2- 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware and it's global so I find Arabic language but I cant root my phone.
So I want to to flash my phone with 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware without loosing the root.
There is anyway to do this?
or any other solution?
Thank you...
Edit:
I found the solution:
1- Unlock bootloader by official sony site
2- flash with unrooted .62 firmware in this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477440
3- flash by fastflash (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25024200) with boot.img taken from previous topic.
Now my phone has rooted .62 firmware
Special thanks to benji.berg
Install the .42 firmware, root your phone and make update directly via 3G or WiFi from your phone to .62(Over The Air, OTA, update).

But .42 firmware isn't global and doesn't has Arabic language and when I update it to .62 it doesn't has it also.
If you can give me a link for global .42 firmware (not for southeast asian countries) I will appreciate it.
Thanks
you can unlock bootloader when you're in .42. Flash .62 without locking the bootloader and then flash a custom kernel with root and CWM.

First relock your bootloader, upgrade to .62 via Pc Company, then unlock bl again and flash RootXperia via CWM,and that's it,you'll have .62 rooted.

[Q][ST15i]Official ICS update with unlocked bootloader?

Hello, today (6/16) Sony Mobile has posted my SI-number on their Xperia Mini ICS thread, which means that the official ICS update is now available for my device using the PC Companion.
Problem is, I have unlocked my bootloader & I'm now running the stock Gingerbread with a prerooted kernel. I've read many topics where people get bricks by updating their unlocked SE phones via OTA or the PC Companion.
The solution seems to be extracting the update from the PC Companion, and then flashing it with Flashtool. But I'm a n00b and I don't know how to do this, can some1 help me . Just don't wanna brick my phone now, I need it xP.
Oh, and another question, if I update with the official rom, will I lose the unlocked bootloader?
You have two ways to do this. One is the simplest in the world: find a .ftf file for stock ICS rom and flash it through flashtool. And that's all.
If you want to upgrade through PC Companion, you'll have to:
1) Flash stock kernel
2) Relock your bootloader
3) Use PCC to upgrade

4.1.b.0.587 update on ROOTED ICS ?

HI to all,
Sorry I am a noob here.
I have rooted my live with walkman ICS 4.0 by downgrading then rooting then upgrading it as seen on one of the popular XDA forums.
Currently my version is 4.1.b.0.431 and now I have got the update notification on my phone for version 4.1.b.0.587.
If I do this update then will I lose my root(superuser rights) or not?
Yes, at least if you are updating with SEUS.
Root access is easily regained, e.g. if you have unlocked your bootloader and follow the instructions which comes along with the usage of recoveryARC.img by Team FreeXperia.
SEUS?
ok thanks for ur support. But I have few more questions..
My bootloader is not unlocked and The notification comes in the handset itself
in the application "Update center" and this is according to me OTA update.
Is this same what you call SEUS ??
So if I update not via "sony pc companion" but via this update centre through phone itself then also I lose the superuser rights??
You will have to re-root your phone after update.
It can be done easily following this tutorial: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119
It doesn't have any major changes but fixes some annoying lag on the phone dialer.
It also doesn't have flash player anymore so make sure you backup flash player and install it manually after.
hey thanks for helping me with this.
I already did the same procedure as shown but instead of flashing with 0.587 version I used 0.431.
Now my fone update centre shows 0.587 version available and it can be updated OTA(15.7mb).So my main question is if i now use this update centre to update my version instead of flashtool, will i lose my root access?
Yes, unfortunately. However, regain root access by the many tutorials seen on this board. If not, I am sure there are already people out there who has uploaded pre-rooted .587 images.
In the long run, if you are thinking of digging deeper into modding/hacking/development/whatever, I would advice you to unlock your bootloader if this is not already done. This will also be helpful if you want to make an nandroid backup of all your current content.
There is an official Sony (Ericsson) procedure at http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com, but I recommend you to use the s1tool + testpoint procedure if you want to keep the DRM keys intact. The testpoint differs from the Xperia 2011 models, so you have to search for your specific model. As far as I know, the Arc S (LT18) is excluded to this method.

In not 100% sure what version you are now on but this link is awesome: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957
All you have to do is flash with a rootable kernel, root and then flash back to the latest 0.587 kernel and you are rooted to the latest.
There is no need to downgrade the entire software just flash to a rootable kernel.
I hope this makes sense? But follow that link, it worked well for me.
hey thanx dude for all your support !!!!
Now the things are clear !!!
thanks once again !!!!:good:

CMIIW, but we can't flash new kernel on a locked bootloader, can't we?
I tried this method on my 431 ICS and it didn't work. Same as "tany" did, I had to downgrade to GB first to gain root access.
But unfortunately, I just lost my root access after updating to 587 with SEUS.

Now what i think is that we have to follow same steps for rooting (downgrading rooting and then upgrading)
but instead of flashing with 0.431 flash with .587 rom ftf file. this is the only way for a phone with locked bootloader :silly:

My phone has a locked boot loader.

bootloader unlocking and rooting has nothing to do with flashing through PCC. just connect and if it says update do it...... u will only get problem if u flashed a custom rom.... if u flash custom u wont get update via PCC.... wait for a .tft file of ics...... i bet some one will eventually post it( and hopefullyearlier than the default PCC of ur region ).... then just flash it via flash tool..... if u find a .tft of ics sola the follow only the first step of this link

if i helped please click thanx.............
With an unlocked bootloader you cant update via pcc. You can either relock your phones bootloader and flash a stock rom or wait for someone to upload a ftf and flash it via flashtool
