- Are you really sure you need all those mods?
- You can always move apps to sd card, even if they are system apps - just convert them to user apps and move them.
- Integrate updates into system apps, and them move them to user (like gmail, maps, youtube...)
- Delete things like live wallpapers, xperia wallpapers, any app thats basicly just pictures, use the smallest size defaulttheme apk you can find: run file explorer, go to system/app, sort by size and start deleting things from the top (that arent really necesarry)
- save all images you got trough mms, and delete messages. They take up a lot of space (mine took up 14MB) Use SMS backup or something, save them and delete them in the phone, also clear dial history
Other than that, what the hell did you isntall that takes up so much space? Are you REALLY sure you need all those things?
Oh yeah, that 1gig you 'dedicated to internal memory', thats only really useful for android <2.1, which didn't support native app2sd. Link2sd allows you to move any app to sd card with native app2sd. And you can only store apps trough link2sd on that second partition, system doesnt see it as system (unless you remounted system as /system + /sd-ext but thats only my theory, I have no idea how that would be possible.

[Q] Internal Storage Low with 1 GB Free?

I use CM7 (nightly builds) and recently ran into a warning message about low internal storage, but I had about 2/3 of the total internal storage free (about 1 GB). Moving a couple of apps to the SD card made the warning go away but I'd like to know why the warning occurred when I appear to have so much space available. I can't just ignore it because sync stops when this warning occurs. Since going to a 32GB SD card is not a reliable option with this phone, I'd like to resolve the issue without resorting to wholesale transfer of apps to my existing 16 GB SD card. The screenshot below is my current storage after I moved a couple of apps, but the difference in free space now vs. when I was getting the warning is tiny.

I have had that also while getting apps from the market.. I ignore it and just try again and it works.. Don't know what the deal is.. I'm running pool party and glitch

this is a known issue on aosp based roms. if you check jt's posts here, you will find a post about /datadata being full, along with the fix. your /data partition is not full but another one, /datadata, is. as jt said, this will never be changed upstream, so either use the fix after every data wipe, or use less apps/move to sd all apps possible.
to confirm, open better terminal, or android term, and run df -h, look for /datadata, bet it's about %85 full.. Much beyond that you will start to get massive amounts of FCs, and it will make the phone nearly useless until you either use the fix or remove/move to sd some apps..
if this helps click thanks.

Change Titanium Backups to the Ext card

I saw this comment by another user in another thread this morning and guess that many people don't do this automatically.

The update destroys your internal sd memory, this is where titanium likes to back up . Enjoy going through the pain of re-installing all your apps from scratch. ( for the love of god change where titanium backsup AND sync it to your drop box) Every thing in your download folder is also going to be vaporized.

When I setup Titanium Backup, I always make sure that it is using the real external SDcard instead of the internal card it uses by default. I'm surprised the app doesn't ask when it is run the first time, but it doesn't.
It is easy to change, especially if you don't have any backups yet. Even if you do, it will move them to the new folder you setup in the process.
The mount point for the external SDCard can be one of two though I normally use the system default one which is
Code:
/mnt/sdcard/ext_sd

I use BOX to sync 1 copy of my backups (I have 3 histories) rather than using my dropbox because I have a 50gb box account.
If you think about it, having TB store on the Internal card doesn't do you much good if the unit dies. At least by syncing it to the external card you can take it out of the phone, but if you lose the phone altogether, you lose all your backups if you don't make a habit of copying them to another source which if you do manually won't work because you will forget to do it.
I made the mistake of flashing the RUU and expecting titanium backup to restore all my old apps. When I loaded it I was pissed! I think this thread will help some people restore their apps.
Yeah I saw that comment as well. It always takes me longer to setup my phone up because of things like this. One of the first things I do after flashing!
I didn't realize people didn't know about that function.

[QUESTION][GalaxyS2] Questions/Help with internal memory, customized ROM, "true" fact

[QUESTION][GalaxyS2] Questions/Help with internal memory, customized ROM, "true" fact
(1) I need to completely wipe, remove, restore my phone to absolute stock. I am having some weird issues and want a "clean slate" to work off of. I currently have AJK (with custom initd and extweeks), cwm recovery, and cyanogen installed. I want all of it removed and want to start from scratch. What's the best way to accomplish this?
(2) upon completing Q1; I have a very small internal phone memory, somewhere around 1/2gb but I have a 32gb SDcard -- is it possible to format my SDcard to allow it to be used as "phone memory" so I can have more apps installed? I know there is the "move to SD" options, but this is not what I am looking for since this does not work for widget apps. Also I have a difficult time downloading apps without getting the "insufficient space" error via the play store during app installs.
I am so tired of having to uninstall apps just to install or test new ones. There has got to be a way to use my SDcard as phone memory
I have:
- 100mb out of 1.97gb on Internal Storage (/system)
- 7.82gb out of 11.36gb on Internal Storage (/sdcard0)
- 14.84gb out of 29.32 on SD Card (/sdcard1)

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
So even if I could combine /system and /sdcard0 to become /system and only have 1 sdcard partition would suffice
(3) is it possible to customize/package CyanogenMod to install NovaLauncher (remove/replacing Trebuch) and SwiftKeyboard (instead of AOSP keyboard), amongst other apps (I have the .apk files) so they are installed by default? Also removing apps like Apollo and DSPmanager.
(4) what are some custom scripts, init.d, extweeks, etc you guys are using that I should look into using to get the best performance, battery life, speeds out of the GS2?

[Q] Storage Space Running Out/tried everything

My wifes device is stock/rooted. I've tried moving all the apps to the SD card that I can but it's still showing 4.16GB of apps in internal storage. What can I do to fix this and get everything on the SD card that I can? I have tried Link2SD but it only moves somethings. I just want all user apps, downloads and pictures to default to the SD card.
So, does anyone know how to moved everything to the SD card and make it the default storage location?
5.0.2 does not allow moving everything to SD card like previous versions. You can only move the main app, but all data still needs to be on internal. I had the same issue. I tried updating some apps the other day, and got the error of not enough space, so the only option was to uninstall some apps I hardly used. I'm back up to around 1.2 free. Another thing to do is clear cache a lot. I free up around 400MB each clean. I use two apps for that, and both work great. Apps2SD has more features, and you have to enable the cache clean notification in settings. Cache Cleaner does just that. You can even use CCleaner to see if there are orphaned files/folder that can take up needed space.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.cache.cleaner

I just learned that I have the same problem: I moved several apps to the SD card and it's still showing that I have 1 GB of free space. However, when I check which apps I have in the SD card, link2sd shows that nothing's in external memory. Please check the images I attached to this post. The first one shows which apps I supposedly have in the SD card. The other image says otherwise.

The term System data is absolutely errleading: Downloads never go to Android's /system partition but always to Android's /data partition.
So you just need to look for files in /data that take up the huge amount of space - if any.
The real way to check Android's storage is to go to Settings -> Storage
Example:
Thank you for your answer but I have found the solution to this problem. You see there is something called File Guardian which is a part of Galaxy Labs on Samsung phones. Now the thing is I know exactly where all my files are stored on my phone since I like to keep it tidy ? but since I moved all the downloaded movies to external HD these files were nowhere to be found. Going into storage analyser was showing 283gb in "other storage". This app File Guardian serves as a possibility to restore moved/deleted files but even when I went to search for apps which might be taking much space as I thought there could be some temp/cache data left over from the transfer I could find nothing. Then I remembered to check this File Guardian and there was 512 files there. As I said you cannot find these anywhere except in this app. I deleted it from there permanently and voila the memory is OK now. What's really strange is that I looked all over internet and couldn't find solution to this problem, I was already getting afraid I would have to factory reset my phone. It might be really useful for some people to know about this though.
