New to android and the GT-i9300. I've been trying the JB leaks....but in each and every one I cannot get WiFi tethering to produce a visible SID. I've been rooting these with cf-root 6.4. WiFi tether works fine on my ICS nandroid backup....which I had rooted with one of those all in one kits for the S3.
Is there some kernel support I am lacking ? No WiFi tether is a deal breaker for me.....

I have switched over from rooted Evo and was able to tether with wireless tether app. I now have galaxy siii and I am rooted. I am unable to,tether with wifi app. I am getting an adhoc error. I tried other apps but I am unable to get it working. tethering is only reason I root. I am looking for some help or advice to get this working.
thanks
Are you running a carrier-branded ROM? Because the international stock i9300 ROM includes Wifi tethering (AP 'Host' mode) in stock.
I am using stock Samsung rom.
I am having a problem similar I use to have free tethering by disabling the manager in GB but I flashed the ics leak and I can't find a way to make it free again

Well, i flashed the least leak with odin then flashed cf-root with CWM recovery, working just fine, but when i flash ANY custom rom i can't connect to my wifi network, i restored my backup of the stock firmware and i can connect on wifi on the stock rom.
What's happening? help me xD
there is a fix file for jb wifi maybe that can solve your problem.

noooooo
stills the same =(
It's been well documented on here that in order for wifi to work on AOSP ROM's you need to flash an ICS ROM first then go back so im downloading Omega 13.1 now but my question is do i have to actually be connected to wifi when flashing the ICS ROM or can i just have it enabled and do i need to flash using Odin or can i use CWM,i then want to go back to Liquid Jellybean, can someone please post the necessary steps i need to take.
Cheers
I went straight from LI8 to liquid 2.0 Rc3 and wifi works just fine.

oh really, ok i was under the impression that i had to flash an ICS ROM first, i tried wifi tethering on Liquid Jelly Bean and it wont work but it works fine with Dragon 1.7 ROM
Haven't used wifi tethering but that may be a rom issue.

I flashed this yesterday and now I cant connect to wifi, I have done all the wipes and reflashed but still wont connect to the wifi, any one have a solution to this ? Im using the i9300
You need to flash back to stock ICS, root then flash Super Nexus. Its something to do with the WiFi drivers. But that worked for me

Has anybody gotten wifi tether to work on the stock leaked 4.3 firmware?
I'm using android revolution and flashed the 1500 firmware and it's working fine. On 4.1 I had to install a mod but I would be careful cause it might not work on this firmware. Someone else should confirm, but I tried to install the back button long press mod on 4.3 and it didn't work.
