Install CWM backup via PC (Odin) Galaxy S3 i9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry for my newbie question, but is there any way to restore from a CWM backup via PC (using Odin or something else).
The reason is that whenever i go into CWM recovery, it crashes and reboots before i have a chance to even select the update.
< Background Story> I accidently updated my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 while it was rooted on Stock rom, it wouldnt turn on after that, but keeps rebooting at the "Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300" screen. i tried to install stock firmwares, i tried countless times with CWM to recover, but all failed. now my only option left is to Jtag or give it to the service centre.
So guys is there any way i might be able to install my backup from the CWM recovery i made earlier?
Guys PLEASE Help out a noob. I shall be very thankful.

have you tried reinstalling a stock firmware with Odin?

It gives a Write fail or something. I've tried all sorts of firmwares. I've tried flashing the Recovery from CF Root but unfortunately it just restarts the phone after 2-3 seconds after being in it. So can't restore it from there

I'm another noob but I have been reading and just DL'd and installed the S3 Toolkit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488 It looks to me like it will let you do all kinds of things from the PC. I haven't used it yet but there's a good list of options.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

You should try and wipe your data/restore factory defaults from the recovery menu itself.
can't promise, but it might help.
Good luck

Problem with booting phone

I recently updated my phone from 2.3.3 to Cyanogenmod 7.1 I believe and went to overclock the phone, Unfortunately, I overclocked it too much and now it is stuck in an endless loop on the boot screen..
Phone is obviously a Galaxy Ace, Network carrier is Vodafone UK.
I have been trying for the last two hours to look for answer's on how to fix this and I haven't found anything, So I thought the best idea was to come to here.. Any help would be appreciated, I have also tried to install other ROM's on to the phone to correct it but it look's like the CPU is still at the overclocked setting and because of that, Won't boot up.
thanks.
Dan.
go to recovery and wipe data+cache and try to boot..
if still no luck --> ODIN

I tried wiping everything before but will give ODIN a try. Thank you. I really like the phone and am trying my best to get it working again. lol
So, I downloaded ODIN and I have absolutely no idea what I am doing.. I don't want to risk breaking the phone anymore.. The only tut on how to use ODIN is for the Galaxy 3..
I have never done anything like this before so it's all new to me.. :/
Ok, I used ODIN and I have the original ROM that came with the phone, But still in an endless loop on the Samsung boot screen.. :/ I am totally stuck now.. I have tried all I know to get it to work
I managed to sort the problem, the "One Package" on ODIN didn't work, Luckily I had the 4 seperate files needed on my laptop, So all is workign now.

Excellent work having a backup on your laptop. First thing now do a full backup on your phone before you think about further experiment. If overclocking make sure "set at boot" is not ticked. Finally read up a little on xda before you do anything - a good place to start is "Tutorial" on top of dev section and the "q & a " thread here.
I hope this works for You.
You've a one packege STOCK Rom?
so open ODIN 4.38
Untick Reset Time
Choose your one package file.
choose OPS; attatched here.
press start.
to sum up: you have this ticked only:One package, auto reboot, protect OPS
if doesnot work go to recovery and try factory reset& cache wipe.
if doesnot work, try flshing CWM and install any backed up rom, if you want one. just PM and i will upload backed up stock rom.
I really hope it helps because I got the same issue after flshing a stock from ODIN, but been removed from wipe data& factory reset.

[Q] [HELP!] S3 wont even boot

So my S3 went into a boot loop. And I dont know how I got to this point but now the phone wont even boot, when plugged in to my comp it shows the battery symbol but its greyed out with the circle in the middle, and it stays like that. If i hold the power putton it comes up with the Galaxy SIII GT i9300 screen but then goes back to the battery. I can get it to go into download mode though. I think somehow I may have deleted all the files required for the phone to actually boot(Im a n00b so im not completely sure) Can somebody please help me?
I was on custom ROM before and my binary counter is at 4, so sending into samsung doesn't sound like a great idea :/
Thanks for the help and sorry if this has been asked before, I have searched for hours.

If you also can go into recovery, try to wipe. In addition did you flash any custom kernel?
If not, try to reflash a rom with odin after you got into download mode or did you try this already?

If you mean with CWM mod, no I cant, it just shows the Galaxy S3 GT i9300 screen then goes black. Yes i did have a custom kernel, I believe it was the latest Perseus one. I already tried this with a stock rom and it idnt work, it said it had passed but i still can boot the phone.

as you can go into download mode but not recovery, what about flashing CWM another time (if you did not try it already). Maybe it solves the issue with recovery and from there you could go on trying to wipe etc.
Other options would be to do a mega or super wipe (if this is possible from odin & download mode, not sure though), to get your phone completely empty (mega) or at least to factory reset (super).

I successfully flashed CF root with CWM, now shall I do a wipe and then restore back to a nandroid backup I made? and if so how will I? The phone now shows the samsung logo when turned on but just stays there forever.

The thing is there is nothing wrong with my phone in terms of hardware. The problem that I am having is purely software, I think I just need to restore my phone to a previous version. I did see that thread but didnt feel my post belonged there as my problem is nothing to do with broken battery or mobo or anything along those lines. Hence why I am posting here
Just factory reset via recovery then flash a stock rom via Odin .
No recovery flash CF root via Odin .

I did install a stock ROM and it was still stuck on bootloop, left it like that for an hour, still nothing. So I went into CWM (after flashing it) Wiped and factory reset (noticing it said error mounting /data but ignored) and then restored with a backup I had. it did say error mounting /data and so skipped that step. Still stuck in boot loop. now that I try wiping again the same error occurs, error mounting /data any ideas please?

You need to read a little more. The i9100 screen is because you have tripped the flash counter. Recovery is holding power and both volumes forever. Then you Factory reset.
Also maybe next time make the thread title something about the problem you're having. HELP isn't really telling much.

ive been trying to read up on it. unfortunatley there are different methods scattered everywhere and confusing. however when i do a factory reset its sticks at gs2 gti9100 screen. if you can point me to a thread that has a fix i'd appreciate it. coming from lg forums, these gs2 forums and fixes are a little confusing to me. i guess because of the different variants of the s2's.
thanks

thanks for your help 122nijas.... ive tried a "supposedly" aokp rom for gs2 i777 but it doesnt come up after reboot. just hangs at the gs2 i9100 screen. i have tried a couple more but nothing seems to work to get a working driver. to me it seems like if i flash a compatible rom, it should work. i am able to get into cmw fine. on top of that, my backup that i did have that had md5 mismatch is no longer there. so when i connect to my pc and usb and navigate to clockwork mod folder it says file is corrupt. so now i have lost that initial bacup it seems.
so what course of action do you think i should try now?
again thanks for ur help

I broke something AKA GOD DAMNIT

So today I bought Galaxy ace after having galaxy 5, which I rooted and flashed a ton of times. I picked this phone up, found a cm7 rom, tried to install it. It didn't work, it showed me errors ( I learned that you need to delete some code somewhere in the .zip file ). I tried again. It installed correctly but I couldn't boot normally, it was stuck on the starting screen. OK I thought, it could be normal, I'll just reinstall it. I did that and guess what. NOTHING. I have no idea what to do, I tried flashing with odin, but odin 4.[something] didn't even detect it and odin3 3.07 detected them but was stuck on SetupConnection... At that moment I lost hope.
How do I fix this mess
Thank you

That is for S5830 not S5830i.
As for clockwork mod, its a temporary one so you will have to flash cwm everytime you need to use it.

yes, this is the rom for s5830i but still has bugs listed in the thread like bluetooth not working etc...
for flashing this, first flash hell_lock kernel, search in development thread..
for more info go to CM7 discussion thread in general section!

5830 stopped working after factory setting reset. wont go to download mode.

A few hours ago I tried to do a factory reset on my Ace, and since then the device has been constantly rebooting. I get the Samsung flashing loop, then a second of the stock Orange rom that came with the Ace (haven't rooted or flashed a new ROM on the ace. Only installed CWM recovery about a month ago in preparation for it but never actually got around to rooting) and the whole things starts over with the flashing Samsung picture.
tried to go to CMW and do a factory reset again from there but to no avail. tried to do mount USB storage to allow the PC access to the SD but nothing happens (PC doesn't react). Tried to go to as the FAQ suggested but it just shows me a black screen with one line - LK (Little Kernel) something and then proceeds on to its "normal" boot loop.
I tried browsing around the forum for a while and saw a few recommendations, mainly rooting and installing a new ROM or installing a stock ROM with Odin, however there are two problems
A)I have no idea how to use Odin, and I didnt root the system because I never could choose a proper ROM. was worried I might mess up seeing how I never actually tried rooting or flashing.
B)Seeing how the phone wont boot, and CMW wont let me mount the SD to the computer, is there any way to get mount that SD without swapping it into another phone?
What should I do? Is there anyway to fix this?

Is your phone s5830 or s5830i?
Choose the stock rom appropriate for your device and flash via Odin. That's your only choice and btw Odin doesn't require root.Check the guides to get back to stock Rom for detailed information.
