Google Maps update - HTC EVO 3D

My phone suffered from the 'reboot' issue after the previous Maps update. Others have said the update from yesterday fixed their issues. Is anyone still having problems?
I'm running DevilToast CM9 0.7.5

I'll test it right now.
Edit: still reboots. Reverting.

People over at sensation forums said it fixed for them but I'm still getting reboots

Yeap. I updated mine too. Just the other day I was using maps and it rebooted on me too. It kept rebooting Everytime
I used maps. So I downgraded the app and everything was fine after that. I definetly know its not from related. My gf has stock rom so its maps for sure. Way to go Google for screwing a good app for evo 3d lol.

[Q] Camcorder Issue (Rooted)

Well a bit back I rooted my X2 on 2.3.4. Everything works fine and smooth, but I have had the issue of when I use my camcorder, and I go to play the files, they are corrupt and unplayable. Any clue to what is causing this?
Are you on stock 2.3.4 or are you running a ROM?
Just Stock GB.
Hy UbuntuBrandon,
Have you froze or removed any app? If so which one's? That maybe what's
causing the problem.
I'll throw my .02 in. I'm on my third DX2, as I returned the first two because the video absolutely sucked. I've tried ROMs, freezing, unfreezing, rooted, stock. Nothing has seemed to work, however I just installed lgcamcorder a few days ago and have had good luck so far. It has the option to drop the framerate, so I dropped it to 6 Mbit. I've tested with 30 sec, 1 min, and 5 min clips. So far so good.
---------- Post added at 06:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:34 PM ----------
Well, my karma just kicked in. Just as I hit "reply" my phone rebooted while in lgcamcorder. First time it's done that.
I never froze any apparently, no. But I just installed eclipse and it is working now. Ill never really know why I guess, but problem solved.

Jelly Bean's Google Now for ICS (FULLY FUNCTIONAL!!)

*Cleaned up OP. Started collecting too many old links. *
I saw this on the news page and have been following it since then. Google Now finally comes to ICS and should work with any AOSP ROMs.
Latest Development as of 8-6-12: There has been some new developments on this. XDA user cajunflavoredbob has put together a nice write up on explaining everything and new downloads. Check it out here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29756226&postcount=2856
I flashed it right over my ParanoidAndroid ROM and also AOKP and it works great. Should work fine on CM9 as well but I havent tested that. As always, backing up before flashing is a good idea.
VIDEO: XDA member Tomsgt has made a video showing how to install and also a little sample of what it looks on our phone. Check it out here:

I saw this on the news page. I believe CM9 is AOSP based so it should work for us too. I'm in the process of backing up my ROM now before trying it. I'm at work so I may not get around to it right away. But if anyone else wants to try it out, here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749045
EDIT: Ok, I got it working partially. The voice search, for some reason, doesnt work. But manually typing it in does. I dont know if there is a fix for that. I'm in the forum seeing if there are any answers to this. But it does work, somewhat, if anyone wants to try it out.

I have been trying it since early today and from everything I read that was the one thing that was not working as of yet as far as I know but if you come across something let me know

I will post here when there is voice search fix. Apparently its getting worked on. As it is right now though, its pretty cool. Searching for stuff works just the same and you get the "cards" feature. I never used the Google search box before so I didnt really mind replacing it.
Bump for OP change.
So far I'm not too impressed with how it works in cm9. It's very sluggish for me, I have to touch the screen after searches to get results to "refresh", and it has caused a reboot twice while doing a voice search. I flashed via cm7 recovery, cleared dalvik and cache. Also for some reason I can't get it to add a shorts team to the sports card.
Can you get it to use dolphin browser for web search results?

Just remember most issues with ics/jb stuff is because our kernal is ancient and way outdated, the fact that it runs this well on a gb kernal blows me away

This is what I was thinking. For our phone being what it is, it runs pretty well. All features are there, but yeah...it does have its bugs still.

The search results show in google now's built in browser. I dont think you can change that. But any link you select in the results should open in whatever browser you have set as default.

So is this even worth flashing? Is it still sluggish and not very fluid? I'm guessing yes seeing as we still have an old kernal?

It is still a little buggy/sluggish. But every feature is present in this. You will get notifications and cards and voice search and it will talk back to you. If you don't even use the built in search now, then you have nothing to lose.

Thanks for this. I think a lot of people still think of this as broken still but actually works really well.
This is actually really sweet. It's very buggy for me though so i decided to go back to my nandroid before i installed it. Love it! Great progress but it was having some random reboots and force closes and some other things. Just an update from me.
Yeah I think its awesome

Unable to install Instagram after OTA update to ICS?

Once I heard about the official Rezound OTA update to ICS, I relocked and RUU'ed my phone to bone stock setup, and ran the OTA. Now I'm on 4.0.3, and everything works fine. The only problem:
When I search for Instagram on the Play Store, I get this message at the top of the Instagram page: "! Your device isn't compatible with this version." and I can't install it. It worked fine on GB. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
I just installed the latest base with the weekend patch and it installed fine for me.
My problem with Instagram is that I can't upload pictures...it freezes up my phone until reboot. I've seen people with other phones with this problem too. I think it's an ICS issue.

Is there a fix for this yet? Whenever i want to upload an image, it just freezes the whole phone. I'm running Neo's Adrenaline Rom with ICS OTA.

Unless your trying to avoid losing money on stock in the bookface, just use Paper Camera.

Random reboots on ALL AOSP based roms.

I have a CDMA EVO 3D and every AOSP rom causes random reboots. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how did you fix it?
We need more information. Are you s-on or s-off? What hboot are you running?
I've found the AOSP ROMs to be relatively stable on my phone, but they are still a work in progress and may have some issues.
I am s-off with hboot 1.4 and have used both twrp and 4ext but still have the same problems.
I used to have the same issue but reboots are now almost none scince I started using ButteredToast kernel v 11.1 works the best for me even on a ROM that originally gave me a ton of reboots/freezes

Did that kernel just come with the rom or did you get it from somewhere else.
Never mind stupid question

Luckily I was s-off and found and old ruu and it fixed the problem. I was hiking in Colorado last weekend and forced 800mhz to get service on the top of the peek. Something got borked and the virus ruu for 3.16 was not fixing the problem. The older htc ruu .exe worked great. Then I nandroided back. Just lost a few photos on my internal. All is well now.
Does Evo LTE even support 800MHz?
Edit: I was thinking of LTE, not CDMA.
Glad you got your phone working for you again
