I have a CDMA EVO 3D and every AOSP rom causes random reboots. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how did you fix it?
We need more information. Are you s-on or s-off? What hboot are you running?
I've found the AOSP ROMs to be relatively stable on my phone, but they are still a work in progress and may have some issues.
I am s-off with hboot 1.4 and have used both twrp and 4ext but still have the same problems.
I used to have the same issue but reboots are now almost none scince I started using ButteredToast kernel v 11.1 works the best for me even on a ROM that originally gave me a ton of reboots/freezes

Did that kernel just come with the rom or did you get it from somewhere else.
Never mind stupid question

I tried that tiimat and it worked. I'm still researching in why no others are. Will try to remember to update this post, but send me a message in a few days if you haven't heard from me. I don't know the answer, but I'm usually pretty good at finding someone that does. Gonna hang it up for the night.

I just noticed I have serious WiFi issues with this kernel though. Will not see it most of the time, and will never connect. I'm going to try to put it down for the night again...

Rogers are gsm based phones, right? - have to be, cause I'm also running Leedroid which is only available for the gsm version!
..so there isn't any gsm custom kernel out yet and it seems your trying to flash a CDMA Kernel to a GSM Phone - isn't very healthy for your phone (-;
The reason why we still don't have any custom kernel is, because HTC didn't released the gsm board files with the 2.3.4 kernel sources yet.
Just have a look at the Leedroid thread to stay up2date - there are a lot of post were people spamming htcs fanbook page etc. to get htcs attention.
Butt its Sprint. I thought Sprint was cdma? Are there longterm consequences to flashing the wrong kind? Everything seems to work fine after nand restore after each kernel attempt. So if there aren't any kernels, how is everyone else oc ing to 1.8?

My phone suffered from the 'reboot' issue after the previous Maps update. Others have said the update from yesterday fixed their issues. Is anyone still having problems?
I'm running DevilToast CM9 0.7.5
I'll test it right now.
Edit: still reboots. Reverting.

Hes asking how to get rid of the red text on the screen when it boots up.
Sorry but you can't until there is an s-off for hboot 2.09. I also hate it. If your hboot is lower, you can get s-off, which is highly recommended
Btw its not the roms, no Rom will be able to take it away. Its something HTC did to be d*ckheads

thank you also would that be causing my phone not being able to be fully flashed to cricket???
Its only a message to let you know the phone is setup for development, it does not affect anything. What is the problem you are having with Cricket?
Nevermind I see the other post
took it to a flashing place to get it flashed and they could not get data and mms working only talk and text
No that dosen't have anything do do with flashing the phone to another carrier

Title pretty much says it but just wondering if anyone has not been able to run custom kernels. It started with my attempt with Komodo etc., but I always get some form of screen flashes or massive FCs. Im am rooted with original 1.12 hboot. I have been able to successully load and run ROMs from Viper to AOKP, even CM10.1 but never able to run a custom kernel. I have wiped clean, reset and still no go. I am using the 2.2.1 TWRP so wondering if the newest TWRP would fix that ability? I know some of the EVO LTEs just wont run with a custom kernel but figured I would try.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Are you S-Off or S-On. I would flash the latest recovery just to be safe.

I've had the same issue with Komodo. I'm S-OFF 1.19. I tried on the latest twrp, 2.3.3, and even on a tip re-flashed 2.3.1
I was able to boot after flashing with 2.3.1, sometimes...but it really wasn't stable enough to even try to use. Constant reboots, FC's, bootloops, etc
The device I'm having this issue on is an insurance replacement from asurion, the 4th one to be exact. i never had this issue on any of the previous devices...my first was new via preorder, that was stolen, and the first 2 refurbs were returned due to other hardware defects, although at least they could run a custom f***ing kernel.
as far as I've been able to tell nobody has found the issue that makes some devices not take to a custom kernel.

Thanks for the replies. I am S-OFF, current baseband etc. I haven't tried the voltage mod, but will look into that and come back for questions if necessary. If you have any tips on the voltage mods etc, feel free to pass them on. I have tried to use Goo Manager to download the newest TWRP but kept getting errors but haven't tried today. Will try to get the most recent on and look at voltage mods. Its not a huge deal, I get great battery life and its fast enough but I wanted to at least see if there was something specific that I have been missing to run the kernels. Thanks for all the replies!
The Komodo kernel worked only after updating TWRP to newest and I also had to use the voltage mod as neither would load without it. Great advice and for first time I am running custom kernel on top of PACMAN ROM. I tried capped at 1.7 then 2.1 both work but the 2.1 started to indicate some weird results within minutes of loading. I backed down to 1.9/384 and looks to be the sweet spot. Thanks again!

I don't know if it makes any difference but I flash the voltage zip before and after flashing the kernel. Also make sure your downloading the s-on if that's what you need
Edit just saw your s-off in your sig

which one do I pick?? I'm running baseband 1.12.11.1210 with Sense 5 port r141 currently. I am S-off. I would like to unlock my bootloader again if this will lock it so do I just run HTC Dev again? If so, is it the EVO 4G+ dropdown because I don't see one for Evo LTE? Or should I just use the Viperuu one which I think can unlock the bootloader again?
Since you are S-OFF you can run the latest RUU
Or yes use VipeRUU and start over from scratch

Everything is working great now! Thanks! Now I can finally make backups again. Have had this problem for quite some time and it feels good to be golden again.
Glad you got it working
I was thinking an RUU would fix your issue. Glad you got the problem resolved:thumbup:
