so im a noob at this and i rooted my evo 4g lte and when i start the phone up the first htc startup boot screen it says on every rom i install
"This build is for developmental purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permissions. Failure to comply may lead to legal actions."
What's Your Question?

Hes asking how to get rid of the red text on the screen when it boots up.
Sorry but you can't until there is an s-off for hboot 2.09. I also hate it. If your hboot is lower, you can get s-off, which is highly recommended
Btw its not the roms, no Rom will be able to take it away. Its something HTC did to be d*ckheads

thank you also would that be causing my phone not being able to be fully flashed to cricket???
Its only a message to let you know the phone is setup for development, it does not affect anything. What is the problem you are having with Cricket?
Nevermind I see the other post
took it to a flashing place to get it flashed and they could not get data and mms working only talk and text
No that dosen't have anything do do with flashing the phone to another carrier

I tried that tiimat and it worked. I'm still researching in why no others are. Will try to remember to update this post, but send me a message in a few days if you haven't heard from me. I don't know the answer, but I'm usually pretty good at finding someone that does. Gonna hang it up for the night.

I just noticed I have serious WiFi issues with this kernel though. Will not see it most of the time, and will never connect. I'm going to try to put it down for the night again...

Rogers are gsm based phones, right? - have to be, cause I'm also running Leedroid which is only available for the gsm version!
..so there isn't any gsm custom kernel out yet and it seems your trying to flash a CDMA Kernel to a GSM Phone - isn't very healthy for your phone (-;
The reason why we still don't have any custom kernel is, because HTC didn't released the gsm board files with the 2.3.4 kernel sources yet.
Just have a look at the Leedroid thread to stay up2date - there are a lot of post were people spamming htcs fanbook page etc. to get htcs attention.
Butt its Sprint. I thought Sprint was cdma? Are there longterm consequences to flashing the wrong kind? Everything seems to work fine after nand restore after each kernel attempt. So if there aren't any kernels, how is everyone else oc ing to 1.8?

Hello I rooted and unlocked but for some reason any Rom I flash my data network doesn't work. No 4g or 3g. Nothing no service.
I tried looking around but I couldn't find anything and I'm over it, tired of all this. I want to go back to complete stock. Locked inroot and no cwm
How can I do that there was a couple posts I saw to do this but they all had like 10 files and I just don't know which one to download. Can anyone link me to specific guide on how to do it. Where there isn't so many files.

did you check under settings for data enabled under network?
Hello all, I'm just wondering, if once you root via HTC's method (since my phone is 651.3 there's no other way that I know of) can you make your bootloader say *Locked* (NOT relocked) in case you need to get service at a sprint store? I know you can remove the yellow triangle on certain Samsung devices so I figured I'd see if you could do something similar on the EVO. Thanks guys.

No, you can only modify the hboot text with s-off. If you really wanted, you could actually relock it using fastboot but I think even then it says relocked instead. I don't think there's much reason to...it sounds like Sprint doesn't really care. Especially since you unlocked using a method provided by HTC.

Ok thank you. Now, I know with the EVO 3D, and using htcs unlock method, you had to use fastboot to flash kernels and recoveries, is this still true on the new EVO?

Nope, HTC wants to make sure they know

Yes, if you've taken any OTAs. If you havent taken any OTA's you can flash anything with S-ON
Thanks for taking this one rx

Hi Guys,
i have a serious problem. i bought a second hand korean version of HTC evo 4g, known as HTC rider. i have searched the forums and they mention that its same as evo 3d. The problem is that my phone is stuck on the boot logo and i want to install a custom rom in it. i have also noticed that hboot has been installed in it so i presume that i can install the custom rom. which rom can i use for it?
please help.
The evo 4g is the original evo, not the 3d. So my guess is that you need a 4g evo Rom.

unfortunately, i have tried a 4g rom also, but it didnt work. the installer showed an error message for asstertion and then aborted the installation :|
Since its a different phone with a different footprint, you might need to adjust the build.prop in the rom before you flash, that way the footprint in the phone matches the footprint in the rom. That's the first thing that clicked in my head, I'll try and do some extra research for you if I can, that way you know what to change what to

Hi Mate,
Can you help us (evo 4g+ users) to find a working custom rom and kernel.
thanks in advance.
Out of this list
http://www.androidruu.com/index.php?developer=Jewel
which one do I pick?? I'm running baseband 1.12.11.1210 with Sense 5 port r141 currently. I am S-off. I would like to unlock my bootloader again if this will lock it so do I just run HTC Dev again? If so, is it the EVO 4G+ dropdown because I don't see one for Evo LTE? Or should I just use the Viperuu one which I think can unlock the bootloader again?
Since you are S-OFF you can run the latest RUU
Or yes use VipeRUU and start over from scratch

Everything is working great now! Thanks! Now I can finally make backups again. Have had this problem for quite some time and it feels good to be golden again.
Glad you got it working
I was thinking an RUU would fix your issue. Glad you got the problem resolved:thumbup:
