BT Tether Question - HTC Rezound

Excuse the noob question, I'm new to tethering. I have wifi tether working but trying to get BT tether to work.
I followed these direction but not no avail: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730437
Do I need an app? Appreciate the help, save the slams for someone else.

Q&A section

Wrong section.
But since ICS, you shouldn't need any additional tools or apps for BT tethering.
For example, all I have to do is pair my Rezound and tf101 together, the tf101 automatically recognizes my Rezound as a device capable of providing internet, so you can just tell it to use the Rezound as an internet connection. Done. Nothing else to it.

Hello. Once again this is the wrong section but hey, I'll help. I'm actually tether right now. There is a thread in the rezound development section for a wifi tether that works well with the rezound. I would link but I'm not on my computer. Best bet is to search the rezound development thread or use the search button. Best of luck,

Sh*t sorry I even made a point to check where I was posting it.. Sorry

Do we really need 3 people to tell him "wrong section" ?

Is there a specific reason you want to tether through BT instead of wifi?

[Q] Wireless Tether/Sharing Killed By Tmobile!

Hey Guys a problem just occured. I was surfing via wireless tether on my awesome rooted vibrant...... when all of the sudden i opened or changed a page at 12:00am 11/15/2010 when a lovely new page from Tmobile Popped up "GET A TETHERING/ Wifi Sharing plan for only $14.99 a month" and was obv garnished in pink and blue as tmobile is.
10 minutes previous to 12:00 am. I recieved a "free mobile message: Tethering & Wi-fi sharing access will be blocked unless you add a Phone tethering & wi-fi Sharing plan available at my.tmobile.com"
12:00am "free tmobile message: Tethering & Wi-fi sharing has been blocked" Please go spend all your goddamned money on more of our services because you dont pay us enough yet for your not quite... but paying for -- 4g service....
I am rooted with clockwork 2.5.1.2.. . . WTF is my question to tmobile... and Gents what can we do about this situation?
How do they know you are tethering? Since they can't see what your doing on your phone...

Ya know... Great question and i seriously wish i knew. I believe that wireless tethering for the vibrant was originally loaded on all the "vibrants" and tmo took them off because they did not like the idea of their well invested bandwidth going into a NON-tmobile product. So a remnant of that SW might have a database. I'm just throwing out conjecture. But i need that back w/o paying out the ass.

I quite disagree. If i post this in APPS then it will eventually make it here for "Android development" also known as modified hacking. I would much rather pay a person on this forum a generous donation as i have times so far to fix this situation.

If they force all internet traffic to go through a proxy, they can easily check that.

And you'd be quite wrong. The development section is for discussion of development on the device, not questions that might eventually lead to development.
So, unless you're starting this thread with the intent of writing an app that gets around T-Mobile's tethering block, it's the wrong section.
What rom & tethering app were you using? Mobile ap still worked when I was tethering at 2 am pst today. (using unofficial stock jk2)

Bionix Fusion 1.2 [yes, i gotta update my signature].
MobileAP was working last night.
MobileAP still works fine for me. Currently usind Anderdroids AOSPish JK2 1.1 rom.
First of all, specifying a time (12am) does no good unless you give us a time zone.
Secondly, I dont understand what you are complaining about. You are not paying for the tethering, correct? So why are you expecting to tether? If you don't like this, why not try another carrier... Please let us know when you find a carrier that offers free tethering.
Third, it is trivial for tmobile to detect tethering. If you don't know why, that is your problem - not theirs.

I did a quick test and wireless tethering still works for me. I'm using the loyalty android plan on a rooted JI6.

And also, the OP is not asking if Tethering is working for us! What hes asking is if theres any other way to Tether, or bypass the transfer limit!
At OP: Im not sure how exactly they keep track of tethering, but i do know that they have incorporated a transfer limit that will allow us to tether for free for only so long. I understand your frustration as I came from the MotoCliq and we were able to unlimited tether for free using the WiFi Tethering app or Barnacle....i do believe those do not work one our phone, so there really is much you can do as of right now

FWIW, both Barnacle and Android Wi-Fi tether do indeed work (at least on Eclair, not sure about Froyo).
I'd be curious to know how exactly T-mo is detecting this as well. Sniffing traffic and looking for http user agents? Seems like a lot of work to go through just to catch the small percentage of users who tether without their plan, especially seeing as how everybody is capped anyway.
Of course, if T-mo is actually sniffing your traffic and inspecting packets, Barnacle and Wi-Fi tether wouldn't help you hide what you're doing anyway. One option would be to use a tunnel or a VPN to obfuscate what you're doing whenever you're tethering.
I'm contractless on T-Mo now, and if I lose the ability to tether I'm definitely going to be frustrated, maybe to the point where I'll jump ship. That's not worth $15/mo when I'm already capped at 5GB!
I just checked via wireless tethering on a rooted bionix fusion 1.2 build and it worked just fine for me at 730am MST. Have you tried any proxy pages? So far it seems to be just your phoen OP that isn't tethering.

Reported in G2 forum also, with PDANet.
Barnacle is working great for me, what program are you using?

Any programmers have some time to burn?

I have googled the possibility and existences of an app that allows your phone to be used as an earpiece for your tablet/computer/ps3 but although i have found alot of interest in the topic, no one has an answer. so now i'm asking the great xda minds for their help. i will donate 20 dollars to working app that i can put on my tablet that allows my phone to take calls and be use as an "earpiece" for the tablet. i don't care if it's an app that turns the phone into an assessery or simply uses BT to transfer the voice data to the phone via two apps. my final goal is this:
have a tablet with my number/data plan
use tether to my phone/laptop
use phone to take/make calls on the lapdock
simply leave the tablet in my bag to use as a "cool" assessory but use the phone and laptop to do my work.
and, yes, i know i can use a BT earpiece as a replacment for for all this, but i hate something attached to my ear and i think that people talking to air is kinda goofy (i would say nerdy but this is obviously more nerdy ).
thanks for your time
this is NOT a question, this is a development request. please don't move to thread that developers won't read...
So essentially an a2dp app? Or... can't recall the protocol name. Starts with an H. Its like HVDO or something.
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.
Aha!!!??!!
So your Tablet is your Networked device, you tether a laptop for internet as-well as your phone......
This is because you only want to pay for one internet/calling network account i guess???
You'll find some interesting stuff on SourceForge.net essentially your windows laptop is capable of doing this, so i'm definite there is a linux version witch you can port to your Android device... And then simply code a nice GUI in Java......
Well Im studying atm so I can't help lol
It's HSP/HFP/AVRCP profiles for bluetooth.

[Q] droid VNC Server Scrambled Video on EVO 3D

Has anyone else tried droid VNC Server on the EVO 3D? The video output appears scrambled. I'm connecting to it via USB and local port forward to 5801. This worked great for me on my EVO 4G, and I'd love to get it working on the EVO 3D as well.
Screenshot attached
noo....
mine is broken too -.-
I used this at work so my boss wouldnt notice me texting lol this sucks..
I noticed the same distortion with screenshot apps.
i have heard some people are having issue with it, i personally dont use it.. but i know there are people having the issue..
for future reference, this should be in the Q&A section..
What'ss wrong with you? You have [Q] in your title, you think it belongs in the development section or ummm I dont know, the Q&A section? Being new is no excuse. Read the rules, read the stickies and be a good little forum member.

Apologies, I will post any similar issues in the future there. Thanks.
Since it is confirmed others are having similar issues, I went ahead and posted an issue to the repository on Github here:
https://github.com/oNaiPs/droid-VNC-server/issues/20
However, if others are having the same problem w/ other screenshot apps, it sounds as though it may be more of an issue with the device than something being specific to droid VNC. Nonetheless, perhaps the developer may come up with a fix.
Same issue when trying to do screenshots in recovery with Ashot.
Even with the new updated ROM Manager, and with TeamWin's recovery.
Drocap 2 works fine for me. Plus questions go in the q and a section...

Any help here?! Looking for the functionality of VNC but obviously this doesn't work if the screen is scrambled....
...thanks!
same problem here on htc sensation. no solution yet?
This issue is caused by scan line length calculation bugs. Our vnc server has no such issues, VMLite VNC Server,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
It also works on non rooted devices.

Tethering issues

I'm trying to tether my samsung galaxy tab to my rezound. I turn on barnacle tether and press associate, it says its on. My gtab cannot locate it. Any help would be appreciated
I'm unlocked and rooted.
You're going to need the wpa_supplicant fix on your gtab. If you search for it you'll find it here on XDA. If I find it first, I'll post a link.
The basic problem is that the Galaxy tab doesn't see ad-hoc networks. This fix allows it to.
Edit: Found it... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437616

I know...I'm terribly sorry about that. No sence in people answering the same question a billion times. I was going to remove the post after I saw it was posted somewhere else already, then I forgot. I'm sorry, I will definatley do a search next time I ask a question.

Newb here! verizon note 2

Hello!
I am a complete newb to rooting and just bought a used verizon note 2 that was already rooted with cleanrom 4.2.5 ace (lucky me!). I really don't understand all the technical jargon so looking for some answers from you smart folks
1. Do I need to know anything about updates? I know I'm not supposedto accept OTA updates from verizon, anything else?
2. Is there a way to get the wireless tethering app for root users (green wifi symbol) working? I am on unlimited data and tether a lot. I use the built in hotspot since cleanrom unlocked that but it doesn't seem as reliable as wireless tether was on my old rooted tbolt, but unfortunately the app isn't working on this phone
3. is there a setting or app to get a stronger LTE signal and is there an app to force 4G to stay on like the thunderbolt has?
4. what are some other cool features of this rom?
this phone is amazing with cleanrom I love the battery life especially coming from the tbolt. thanks for any guidance here
