Newb here! verizon note 2 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello!
I am a complete newb to rooting and just bought a used verizon note 2 that was already rooted with cleanrom 4.2.5 ace (lucky me!). I really don't understand all the technical jargon so looking for some answers from you smart folks
1. Do I need to know anything about updates? I know I'm not supposedto accept OTA updates from verizon, anything else?
2. Is there a way to get the wireless tethering app for root users (green wifi symbol) working? I am on unlimited data and tether a lot. I use the built in hotspot since cleanrom unlocked that but it doesn't seem as reliable as wireless tether was on my old rooted tbolt, but unfortunately the app isn't working on this phone
3. is there a setting or app to get a stronger LTE signal and is there an app to force 4G to stay on like the thunderbolt has?
4. what are some other cool features of this rom?
this phone is amazing with cleanrom I love the battery life especially coming from the tbolt. thanks for any guidance here

[Q] Rooting & ROMS on Evo 4G LTE & Galaxy S3

Hello,
I, like so many others am trying to decide between the Samsung Galaxy S3 & the HTC Evo 4G LTE. One thing that I definitely want is to be able to root and flash ROMS on whichever phone I get. I know that root has been achieved on both phones but I'd like thoughts on developer support between the two, and which one (or both) can be set back to an original state where it's not known it was rooted for warranty purposes. I know HTC lets you unlock the bootloader but unless there's a workaround it'll say relocked on the bootloader allowing anyone savvy enough to check that it's been rooted. Wondering if current root versions are S-on, S-off or either with the owner choosing. Or perhaps S-off is a must in order to truly relock the bootloader so it says locked instead of relocked. I also read in my research that you can trip a counter on the S3 the counts how many ROMS have been flashed... Although I also read it's possible to root without tripping the counter but if anything goes wrong, you can't reset the counter.
Now, it seems like the S3 would have the most dev support since it's been released globally but I'm assuming that the ROMS developed for the global quad core version won't be compatible with the dual core US version. Is this correct? Is there Evo dev community really committed so that I could expect similar work being done for both phones?
Lastly, I'm assuming that the S3 will have more accessories available for it given its release on 5 US carriers without any changes in the phone... Seems like a first for any phone but the iphone. Do you agree with this or do you expect lots of accessories and aftermarket items available for the Evo LTE as well.
I know that there's a lot of questions in this but with the phones being so similar, this may be the area that differentiates them. And I know that I definitely want to root the phone... No question on that.
Thanks so much in advance for any and all advice, info and help you can give. I appreciate it so much!

[Q] T-Moble USA MMS w/o data

Hey guys i just got a atrix 4g unlocked for tmobile running cm7. I do not have a data plan but i do have unlimited messaging. is there any apn setting out there that allows me to send and recieve just mms and no data other than that. how would i go about configuring my phone to do so? i would really appreciate the help. its really annoying having to toggle the data on and off whenever i recieve a picture message.
bump
*Not trying to be rude*
Im in the same boat as you, we are both new here and i have 2 thanks overall so let one rookie tell another rookie rather than have a higher up having the fun of insulting and embarassing you.
Having a configuration would need first off root, which you said you had a custom rom so check, next something like this isnt a universal android thing so you will ger better results in the Atrix forums not android general.
And... Bumping is spam, you'll get banned and piss everyone off.
Also use search in the tools. It takes a little longer but its great.
Like i said just letting you know nicely,
yea i appreciate that...im new to this whole forum thing since most of the other mods ive done to my phone just based off of knowlege of the os and a few convos with friends...but yea thanks again
No problem.
I did a little research, and by little i mean little.
But idk how t-mobile does it, but when you get a smartphone you need a data package.
Like regular flips phones allowed unlimited txt, pics, and 15 sec videos.
But now you have a high end phone so check your bill closely.
They may be charging you (although not much because pics and just kbs in size) in the data section. Just based on my research but double check with T mobile.

[Q] Can someone cook a rom using bell stock rom?

First of all, i have to thanks for the guys which spends lot of time cook or build the Galaxy S3 rom.... Can someone build/cook a rom using bell stock rom or capture this function from the bell rom. In bell stock rom, it can let u choose either 3G&HSPA+ mode or LTE&HSPA+ mode....I think this function is very important to someone which don't have LTE plan and want to save some battery power!

Ah also... lte or 3g plan doesn't exist... should be the same plan.... in Qc we only have internet plan and if you are in a lte coverage then you can go lte otherwise its H+. But what I found its when you have a low lte signal. The phone always trying to go switch H+/LTE and for that, a widget switch mode could be interesting.
sorry about that...because i saw couple ppl posting question or request in that section....
timbit123: i agree...that y this widget switch mode is should be good and save some battery power!

BT Tether Question

Excuse the noob question, I'm new to tethering. I have wifi tether working but trying to get BT tether to work.
I followed these direction but not no avail: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730437
Do I need an app? Appreciate the help, save the slams for someone else.

Wrong section.
But since ICS, you shouldn't need any additional tools or apps for BT tethering.
For example, all I have to do is pair my Rezound and tf101 together, the tf101 automatically recognizes my Rezound as a device capable of providing internet, so you can just tell it to use the Rezound as an internet connection. Done. Nothing else to it.
Hello. Once again this is the wrong section but hey, I'll help. I'm actually tether right now. There is a thread in the rezound development section for a wifi tether that works well with the rezound. I would link but I'm not on my computer. Best bet is to search the rezound development thread or use the search button. Best of luck,

Sh*t sorry I even made a point to check where I was posting it.. Sorry
Do we really need 3 people to tell him "wrong section" ?
Is there a specific reason you want to tether through BT instead of wifi?

Info, Please

I have a HTC DNA with the latest OTA. Root is not applicable to me, so I'm considering trading it in for a Note 2. That said, what am I to look for in a Note 2 that's rootable so I can install custom ROMs? I've browsed the "Do not accept OTA" threads but have not read anything about what OTAs are unrootable. I just do not want to get a Note 2 that has an out-of-the-box OTA that I cannot root. Thanks.
All versions are rootable/unlockable
I'll go get mine now, then.
Unlocking process is super easy...10 min tops. From there you have tons of ROM choices, and more every day it seems like. You won't regret it.
Just traded my DNA for one. Going to unlock now. Thanks, guys.
welcome! you will never piss with anything htc again!

Thanks, bud.
Just make the first thing you do is unlock. I'm 99% sure the unlock process inhibits a forced factory reset. At least, it did when I used it back in December.
