It has NOT been officialy released by Samsung. There are many accessories for the S III that have been announced and demo'ed by Samsung that are yet to be officially released (http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-accessories-unveiled/)
What Verizon is selling is a kit (case + recharging base) that installs not only on the S3 but on a series of devices (just changing the case). It doesn't use the S III's built in features, but rather it brings the "intelligence" to a case that must be attached to the phone.
This is what I know about it: http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/04/verizon-samsung-galaxy-s3-wireless-charging-kit/
Other than that, I've seen DIY hacks and mods, but that's all.
You have, however, an intriguing point: not many people really care about wireless charging. I, for one, don't care about it, since plugging the phone to the USB is just as easy + allows me to have access to the phone's int. + ext. storages.
Sign me up for wireless charging, don't need it but I want it. This is what [email protected]$ me off abaut Samsung! I want to get the accesories right from the beginning and not years later or comming soon. Same game with the Note 10.1 you can purchase one since 3 weeks ago but a cover for it nowhere in sight? WTF? Impossible to build a simple cover faster than a smartphone?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
They should release it soon, I'm waiting on it since the beginning.
What's the use of showing it, but not releasing it.
What the hell are they doing there?!? You almost think those chargers are still on it's way from Mars...
It's worth having for this reason - one of the biggest causes of broken handsets is defective usb ports caused by constant pluging/unpluging - both my x10i suffered from this plus daughters sgs2 - saving the usb port for only data access plus occassional charging could seriously extend the life of the phone
Exactly, mine didn't connected anymore with pc because of broken usb-port.
I just want to lay it down and get it charged, without the need to plug it in everytime.
I guess I don't keep my phones long enough to break the USB port. For the last 6 years, I've had a phone for at most 1 year.
If the USB port can't withstand a few inserts/removals, than it's Samsung's problem, not mine, and I'll do whatever I can to have warranty cover than problem.
Well I got it replaced under warranty, but was weeks without phone...
I hate to use an other crappy phone in the meantime, so I prefer preventing that
Wireless crap still not there aha that s3 is real crap.. viva galaxy s2!

Hello guys I need some help and wiil organize the info as best as I can
Origin: started getting a msg saying "voltage to high, charging paused" when the phone wasnt even charging!! after a little drop of water in usb port. Phone would also turn on by itself.
Have done: bought 3 new USB ports buy none worked properly, they fixed the problem with the usb port but then I cant connect to tmobile service, phone does recognize the sim and when I do a network scan it does find at&t but not tmobile. Its like I loose a band.
Flashed a different firmware and baseband. Currently on XWLPT kernel and XXLQ6 baseban and still no luck.
As soon as I change to the old USB board I get instant service with tmobile :s
REPLACEMENT PARTS: USB boards two rev2.2 and one rev2.1
Please advice, I dont understand whats going on :s
THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP

Yeah, i guess it is but I hook it up in all of the board equally though. And still no luck with the new ones :s
There has been twice as much people on here saying that after changing board something doesnt work-than people saying it works ok.
People must be selling faulty stuff.

Yeah at first I thought that but then I bought 3 and all 3 gave me the same issue, so now I dont know what to think. :s
Only thing you could maybe try is change the usb only.Looks like its just 4 blobs of solder shaped in a square that holds it in.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Hey Handale30, did you ever get it fixed? If so, what worked for you?
I have the same issue but with a GT-N7000, I swapped out the USB charge port board. After the change, I get good signal and the it slowly dies and then it's back again.
I dropped my amaze while plugged in and now charger/usb won't work. I'm just wondering if anyone has replaced one before on this phone? I've seen replacement parts on eBay for like 6 dollars and I was wondering how easy it would be to fix? Not really a big deal because I have 4 batteries and a charger but it would be nice to use USB on the computer.

you could always goolge up a "how to video" and see what you find lol..
I did but could not find anything specific.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
here's a video of how to take the HTC amaze apart.. so you should be able to change the charge port also while putting it back together
It requires micro soldering. The port is on the logic board. Your best bet is to find someone who can repair circuitry. EBay has a few people who will do it. Its not cheap. Probably $50 or more.
Sent from my Amaze 4G using xda app-developers app
That's what I thought and I'm not comfortable trying to solder it myself. I guess its not bad externally charging the batteries but I use GPS a lot and it would be nice to use the car charger. There's a place by me that said $80 to fix but I think I'll just save up for a new phone $80 is half of what I paid for the phone itself and it still works great with the anker batter I can go a full day without swapping batteries unless I use GPS.

Yeah I hardly ever use a computer. Only time I do is like rooting and unlocking this which I believe was the last time I used it. This thing is faster then alot of computers in terms of navigating on the net and some other things. Best thing, its fits n my pocket and is with me all day everyday.

If they could get the full blown versions of the Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection and the Nik Software plugins to work strictly on the Note 2 I would say yes I could even though I won't be getting my Note 2 till this Wednesday(thank you IRS). Other than that I still need my Macbook Pro for work and school.
I'll be brief and to the point, no.
While most of what I do is not compute intensive, I do require lots of screen real estate. Too many things running simultaneously to do what I do.
Some tasks like ripping blu-ray discs to a NAS device simply cannot be done on the phone.

I am currently using the Galaxy Note 2 as the only computer and cord cutting entertainment device. Not by choice, but by necessity.
There is a learning curve in trying to do on this device that I used to do on a computer. Specially with word processing like floating text boxes. But I am doing it all on this Galaxy Note 2.
On the entertainment side of things I only missing a few shows that you can only get on iTunes that I can't get on Android. And I need to get the AllShare Cast Wireless Hub or better yet Galaxy Note II Smart Dock. So I can watch video on a larger screen. But beyond that I get all other videos, music, and gaming I like on this device.
As long as you have enough bandwidth and the right accessories you can use your Galaxy Note 2 as your computer and entertainment center. After all this device is really a computer in your hands.

Will this device replace a computer for everyone? No.
It depends on your lifestyle at the moment. If you are more mobile lifestyle then yes. But if you are someone who rips your CDs or do other things that demand a device that has different compatibilities than PPC devices, then the answer is no.
In order for Android to get to that point there needs to be evolution in technology. Like what happens when you get into your new car with your Android. Your home network needs to recognize your Android. Then allow your Android to wireless connect to a keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, external hard drive, external DVD drive, printer etc for computer work. Allow you to wireless connect to your TV/monitor, home theater center, etc for entertainment purposes. And lastly wireless connect your Android to your home and appliances so your home and appliances can do what you want to them to do.
AllShare Cast Wireless Hub is a good start. But still missing so much in so many areas.
Once we get there, then these devices can become the only device you ever need.

For me the N2 has come closer than other device I have owned to be a suitable replacement for my laptop. I even gave my Motorola Xoom to my daughter as I find I have more functionality and enjoy using the N2 more than either device. So to answer the question of survival........I'm not there just yet. Using Word and Excel software on any Android device is still a challenge for me and as I use these program on a daily basis I would unfortunately not survive very long.

Outside of work, this has basically replaced my computer. I rarely if ever turn on my computer at home. My IPod has been put away, something I couldn't do with my Droid X as music/radio would kill my battery.
However for work purposes, I have to use both Macs and PCs and I don't see that ever changing due to the machines/software I need for my job.

Could we use it to remote access a computer?
So all of a sudden my wife's dna is having problems charging wirelessly. It will charge a minute then stop a few minutes then charge a minute more, and so on. So in effect she cannot charge wirelessly any more.
I have read very little about this problem but what i have read is all hardware.
She is unlocked, rooted, s-off, viper 1.1.3 on latest radio.
Questions
1. Has anyone else saw this problem?
2. Is it fixable?
3. If not is it worth a return for a dna that could be un- un-lockable?
4. If we did replace it, do i really need to ruu, re-lock first..?... i mean if its gonna say relocked whats the point.

I had trouble with both these chargers myself. My problem however was they would both charge phone perfectly with very little heat for about 4 or 5 hours, THEN at 99% charge the phone would heat up in the next hour or two to 132 degrees F which at that point, phone shut itself off and smelled like burning plastic. Neither of the chargers would "kick out" at all, and like I said they worked perfectly to 99%, but I kept waking up to a red hot powered down phone. I suspect it was the phone, but I still believe some incompatibilities exsist. Many reports of problems with wireless charging on these phones. As far as answering the op questions, can't help much. I will try the orb one of these days.

Well.. dont really know if it is hardware anymore lol.
I factory reset. Wiped caches. Rebooted set up, restored apps and it charged fine last night. Woke up to a cool charged dna...?
Dont know why or how but hears hoping it stays this way.
Wife loves the dna, loves viper. So dont wanna risk losing it with a phone on the ota that cant be unlocked.
Thanks for all the input and help guys.

Hello everyone,
I have a rooted Skyrocket with Cyanogen mod 11 Kit Kat 4.4.2
Now I bought a flex cable for it, model # i727, rev 4.6 off of eBay.
Opened up my phone and replaced the older one, but the mic still doesn't work. When I make phone calls I have to put the phone on speaker in order for it to work, I don't know why that is the cause. I've spent money on this already and want to know if you guys have come across this problem at all. Thanks!

Hi, I know this is a really old question, and I've long since switched to my S5, but as for the microphone, I did have the same problem with my skyrocket. It turned out to be the fact that the tiny little hole for the microphone had dirt in it. I poked it with a pin, blasted some compressed air on it, good as new. My wife will actually uses the phone every day. ☺ best of luck
