Hello guys I need some help and wiil organize the info as best as I can
Origin: started getting a msg saying "voltage to high, charging paused" when the phone wasnt even charging!! after a little drop of water in usb port. Phone would also turn on by itself.
Have done: bought 3 new USB ports buy none worked properly, they fixed the problem with the usb port but then I cant connect to tmobile service, phone does recognize the sim and when I do a network scan it does find at&t but not tmobile. Its like I loose a band.
Flashed a different firmware and baseband. Currently on XWLPT kernel and XXLQ6 baseban and still no luck.
As soon as I change to the old USB board I get instant service with tmobile :s
REPLACEMENT PARTS: USB boards two rev2.2 and one rev2.1
Please advice, I dont understand whats going on :s
THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP

Yeah, i guess it is but I hook it up in all of the board equally though. And still no luck with the new ones :s
There has been twice as much people on here saying that after changing board something doesnt work-than people saying it works ok.
People must be selling faulty stuff.

Yeah at first I thought that but then I bought 3 and all 3 gave me the same issue, so now I dont know what to think. :s
Only thing you could maybe try is change the usb only.Looks like its just 4 blobs of solder shaped in a square that holds it in.

Hey Handale30, did you ever get it fixed? If so, what worked for you?
I have the same issue but with a GT-N7000, I swapped out the USB charge port board. After the change, I get good signal and the it slowly dies and then it's back again.

Okay guys so my first problem was i was bootlooping the att screen and couldnt get into download mode or recovery mode so i went to radio shack and got 3 100k ohm resistors 1/4 and then used it and got it into recovery mode i used odin one click and it said file analysis for like 30 mins so i turned off the phone and restarted odin but now for some reason i cant get it into download mode again, so i tried turning it on thinking it might be fixed well it immdeiatly went to the phone-----!----computer icon and the usb dosent make any sound on my computer when being plugged in :/ i check to see if maybe the usb was bad by plugging it into my wall charger charged fine, tried a new usb cable and new usb ports still nothing and what i mean is when u plug a usb into a windows 7 computer it makes the notification noise it dosent make that or even show up on device manager im hoping the jig didnt short anything out :/
On the galaxy s 4g you can use Odin once on that screen

What I would do is go to a att store and say I have been ignoring a software update for a while
But I decided to bite the bullet and update recently
While updating I dropped my phone and the battery came out
When I turned on my phone this screen showed up

So I noticed that my phone is not charging while plugged into the USB in my car. Tried using mobile search which is useless. Also noticed if I wiggle the port it sometimes grabs the charge. Just need to know if I have to put back to stock and turn in for warranty. Kinda live off my phone, I drive for a living so I need it working right.

Does your charger work in a wall socket? If it has the same problems, it's the charger. Try buying a new one to see if it works like that. But I can't think of anything on the spot while you're driving.
Also, you shouldn't be using you're phone while driving. D:

Wiggle the port on the car side? Bad car charger/cable.
Wiggle the port on the phone side, bad USB port/cable.
How clean is the socket in your car? Often times they are located in ash trays or near cup holders and get filled with spooge, try cleaning the female part of the car charger and see if you get a more consistent charge? Since your not complaining about not being able to charge at home, your USB socket I assume is fine, I'd bet it's either the cable or the cars receptacle (either dirty or faulty)
Wink
Thx for the help I think its the port on the phone . Seems like I'll be having a fun day at the phone store lol btw I drive limos so plenty of down time just no terminal to be had

Just buy a new one You can also try to solder a new female micro usb end but it'd be too much work.

Even the full site's search function isn't exactly user friendly. It's very powerful, but you have to already know how to use it.

I would say if someone has common sense and any idea how to navigate a forum it should be a breeze. Unfortunately most people are too lazy and want answers naaaooooowww.

Hello all
I recently purchased a used at&t i777 and i am getting horrible reception and lots of dropped calls. I love the phone but it is basically useless as I am only getting 2 bars in known areas of great coverage. I have flashed back to stock at&t ics rom and opened the phone up and replaced the loud speaker/antenna without any improvement. Ihave also tried flashing all the modem roms I could find without any improvement. Right now I am open to any other suggestions.

Problem solved if anyone else has the issue.
I changed the Dock Connector Charging Port Flex Cable Ribbon and every thing is back to normal.
Thanks for the feedback

jrod,
I had problem with the 1st cheap one I bought from china off ebay. I bought one from a USA seller for a dollar or two more and it works flawlessly.
Its weird how the charging port effects it. On my i777 it got a little wet inside the port. Could tell this by corrosion when taken apart. Waiting for flex cable to come in so I can charge it up.

I've found that my problem is my charging Jack on the phone. There is something mechanically intermittent. Does anybody know anyone who might do this work instead of sending it back to the factory? I'll be happy to pay well.

Is it charging then not charging? On my old one my charger flex cable went bad and I had to replace it because eventually my phone stopped charging all together. Its like a 10 dollar part and takes about 15 minutes to replace. There are guides on YouTube to talk ya through it.

I had issues with the usb port cutting in and out when connecting to charger or computer,
Changed cables and did nothing same deal,
Then I changed roms and some magical way it fixed it not sure how that all worked out but maybe this will help,
goodluck
I sent it away.
For forty dollars it came back as good as new and the old part was obviously defective.

Yes, but the troubleshooting process is to go from simple to complex, from cheap to expensive. Cracked solder joints and lint would both give intermittent errors.
It was a suggestion, not an argument.

I understand that. I just wanted to make it clear to others that when the simple solutions don't work, and you're not confident of doing the work yourself, there is a reasonably priced reliable alternative.

Hello guys i recently bought a gt-i9100 and i noticed that when i connect the charger on the usb port network signal gets weaker... The weirdest thing is that when i connect a usb otg cable (which works fine btw) i have no signal reception at all...any ideas what's the problem?

This happens sometimes when the usb port isn't properly replaced. This is a hardware issue so try to fix it yourself or get the phone to a repair shop.
Thank you for your reply....I found out that the "faulty" part is pretty simple to be replaced so i decided to give it a try...well i looked it up and it seems that there're a lot of revisions of that pcb...Do you know which one should i buy??does it really matter??
