Intermittent power jack - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I've found that my problem is my charging Jack on the phone. There is something mechanically intermittent. Does anybody know anyone who might do this work instead of sending it back to the factory? I'll be happy to pay well.

Is it charging then not charging? On my old one my charger flex cable went bad and I had to replace it because eventually my phone stopped charging all together. Its like a 10 dollar part and takes about 15 minutes to replace. There are guides on YouTube to talk ya through it.

I had issues with the usb port cutting in and out when connecting to charger or computer,
Changed cables and did nothing same deal,
Then I changed roms and some magical way it fixed it not sure how that all worked out but maybe this will help,
goodluck

I sent it away.
For forty dollars it came back as good as new and the old part was obviously defective.

Sometimes you need to clean the lint out.

Yes, but the troubleshooting process is to go from simple to complex, from cheap to expensive. Cracked solder joints and lint would both give intermittent errors.
It was a suggestion, not an argument.

I understand that. I just wanted to make it clear to others that when the simple solutions don't work, and you're not confident of doing the work yourself, there is a reasonably priced reliable alternative.

At work need help I drive so no hell needed tried to search mobile feature sucks.

So I noticed that my phone is not charging while plugged into the USB in my car. Tried using mobile search which is useless. Also noticed if I wiggle the port it sometimes grabs the charge. Just need to know if I have to put back to stock and turn in for warranty. Kinda live off my phone, I drive for a living so I need it working right.

Does your charger work in a wall socket? If it has the same problems, it's the charger. Try buying a new one to see if it works like that. But I can't think of anything on the spot while you're driving.
Also, you shouldn't be using you're phone while driving. D:

Wiggle the port on the car side? Bad car charger/cable.
Wiggle the port on the phone side, bad USB port/cable.
How clean is the socket in your car? Often times they are located in ash trays or near cup holders and get filled with spooge, try cleaning the female part of the car charger and see if you get a more consistent charge? Since your not complaining about not being able to charge at home, your USB socket I assume is fine, I'd bet it's either the cable or the cars receptacle (either dirty or faulty)
Wink
Thx for the help I think its the port on the phone . Seems like I'll be having a fun day at the phone store lol btw I drive limos so plenty of down time just no terminal to be had

Just buy a new one You can also try to solder a new female micro usb end but it'd be too much work.

Even the full site's search function isn't exactly user friendly. It's very powerful, but you have to already know how to use it.

I would say if someone has common sense and any idea how to navigate a forum it should be a breeze. Unfortunately most people are too lazy and want answers naaaooooowww.

issue with s-off

when i tap the 1st pin the phone reboots before i can tap the ground pin, is this common or is there something else going on here?
What are you using to do the wire trick ? Kinda sounds like you are grounding out with your touch. May not be happening , just trying to help.

It shouldn't reboot until he makes the connection. I agree that something is grounding it it before he makes it.

Try using a piece of wire from a network cable (the small ones inside) and only strip the very ends. This should provide enough insulation to stop you from prematurely grounding the pin.

Unless your environment is very dry you shouldn't have to worry about the static. Hold one end of the wire firmly down in the hole...and then tap the pin twice.
I used a single tiny wire from inside a zune usb cable. Worked on my very first try

Vibrator motor replacement?

Well, I've noticed with my photon the vibrator stops a lot and i have to bang the phone to make it work again, and this very annoying when my phone is on vibrate (missed texts and such) or when typing, I don't get my feedback that I really need, so i took the phone apart in hopes of simple replacement (like in my evo 3d) but it looks like it's soldered to the board, can anyone confirm this? I would rather not have to replace my entire phone just for a vibration issue :/
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
Yes, it is soldered to the circuit board. I've done similar repairs on other phones, so use a 20 watt iron and go slow. It's not very hard to replace.

Thanks for the reply, since i have extra phones anyway, I might give it a whirl

Btw, when you try it, use desoldering braid to remove it. Less chance of messing up.

Note 2 almost caught on fire

Take a look at my girlfriends note 2, she was at work and plugged it in to charge and a few minutes later smelled burning and her phone was off. She opened the back cover and found the wireless charging pins had overheated and was burning through the back cover. What do you think could have caused this? Phone still works except calls can only be heard on speakerphone. Crazy...

Verizon note2? Wireless charging pins aren't exposed, elaborate?
If another model I'd guess some residue on the inside of the backing grounded the 2 pins? If you ever picked up an oily car battery you might know how little it takes.. >_>

Sorry here is the picture, yes the wireless charging connections are covered but you can see it burned through it.

I'd march right into the Verizon store and show them. I could almost guarantee you they'd order you a new replacement for sure.
Doin' big thangs from my Note Deuce
Verizon overnighted a replacement as soon as I took it into the store so they could see the damage on the phone.

[Q] Audio Jack Not Working.

Its being 1 month My HTC Droid Dna's Audio jack not working.
Around a month ago I feel that my audio jack flickering on and off.
After that stops working for a while and again starts working properly.
Now its completely dead I think.
Tried removing lint from it but there is nothing.
Googled it and found this link
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-HTC-Droid-DNA-Butterfly-Headphone-Jack-Simcard-Sim-Slot-Holder-Power-Flex-Cable/1477850071.html
Just want some help here.
Is it the only solution(replacing above unit with sim tray, audio jack, power flex ) for this?:crying:
Or there is another way to handle this (replacing only audio jack if possible).:fingers-crossed:
since it will cost me a lot replacing the whole assembly.
Thanks

Have you tried different headphones. I would say if there isn't anything in it then it probably went dead. Did you make sure the pins inside were making contact?

If you can help me out, how do i check those it would be great help

I read on the forum that someone else that was having problems with their headphone jack pulled the pins out a little bit. They stuck an object in and gently bent them out more and they had success. It's worth a try. Don't bend them too far though.

I have this problem from time to time. I bought some canned air and spay first to rid moisture and then blow it in the jack and use a wood round toothpick and clean it out. Should work fine.
