Sent from my epic amaze 4g

Seems the entire article is speculation. There are no hard facts that the Amaze will get JB.
The HTC Amaze 4G Android 4.0 update rolled out on May 27th. And while HTC has only released a vague statement in regards to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, we can draw some conclusions of our own. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is an incremental upgrade and because the Amaze 4G had no problem getting ICS, we assume that it has a solid chance of getting Android 4.1
Unfortunately, HTC has promised anything yet so it and T-Mobile could ultimately end up leaving it on Ice Cream Sandwich, considering the device’s age

Which is why I'm leaning over to the s3 from tmo, they have official cm9/10 and many other stuff, faux is there, or tmos one x+
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Eggy I have a tmo galaxy s3 and the difference is night and day. Make sure you hold it first as some people don't like the form factor (mostly how big it is), but it's very thin and light. The development support is really incredible. I have a nightly build of CM10 installed currently that is flawless.

Yeah I've used it and any type of phone, light or heavy is good for me. Altough the note, that's exaggerated, at least the note 2 is less wide
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Yeah I was not a fan of the size and feel of the note.
And definitely not enough for me to drop the Amaze for it.
Choosing between the Sensation, Amaze, and GS2 I went with the Amaze because it had a little heft, better processor then the Sensation (but did not know that would have had better dev support at the time), and the GS2 was just to light for my comfort.
I did get the GS3 myself (not rooted yet though) fantastic phone though.
Still use the Amaze around as backup phone and when working.
Biggest thing I had to over come was the button for power no on the right side rather then on top.

The Nexus issues are starting

I have been reading the nexus forums, and I just have to LOL.
I seem to remember a ton of people saying "why buy the rezound when the 'superior' google nexus is right around the corner.
seems like they are having issues with screen banding, the phone is very slick and hard to hold. Many people are having battery life issues. The browser is hard to use, there is a volume issue that automatically turns off the volume. It gets hot while using. etc.
just goes to show that every phone has "issues", and you have to pick your poison.
im SO GLAD to be with you guys and on the rezound and when we get ICS the nexus people will be jumping ship
Thats wht they get. That phone is too big for me anyway. I got the rezound soon after release after waiting for months. Like u said pick your poison. The only issue ive had was for some reason the phone decided not to boot up n i hd to do a factory reset. But its bn ok e er since besides the usual htc incredible glitches which i am used to. The size is borderline too big for me but im loving this phone. Cant wait for ICS upgrade

Just got my rezound yesterday, and I must say I made the right choice. Build quality is at its finest. Coming from the thunderbolt great improvement. Only thing the nexus galaxy has is ics .

I would have gotten the nexus anyway, but I have a rezound now because I just couldn't justify spending ~$300 for a nexus on contract when I could get the Rezound for free with amazon's deal.
So far I'm happy with the Rezound, although I wish the battery was better. I'm used to my Galaxy S lasting almost 2 days.
You do realize that these issues are related to the gsm device and may not be problems on the cdma/lte version since it's different hardware.

I may have been dreaming as I was surfing the net half asleep last night right before bed, but anyway...I read that the Nexus Volume bug has been acknowledged by Google/Samsung and it is software related not hardware, an update to fix the problem will be released soon. That's the Good thing about Nexus phones, as soon as their is a problem it gets resolved fast.
Btw the volume bug is only on GSM phones in the UK using 900mhz band or something like that. Wouldn't affect Verizon CDMA version.

Exactly my point. This is a "ha ha" post to the people who said the rezound was a pointless buy with the nexus coming out.
Basicly saying every aspect of the nexus was better than the rezound. And now it seems as the playing field has been leveled.
I will have no problem returning the rezound for the nexus nothing aganist this device it feels well built and a decent phone. i do not like sense and a little unsure about how the rooting process goes for htc.

You do know that the Verizon Nexus is going to be bloated as well right? I wouldn't be surprised if they forced Google to lock the bootloader too. It's pretty easy to root HTC phones once S-Off has been achieved. S-off has been achieved apparently, now we're just waiting for proof.
I am on the fence with what to do. The rezound has surprised me and is better than I thought it would be. Will have to see the nexus first. It will probably have better dev support due to the gsm version. And official ROM updates should be more timely than HTC is.

So I just saw this:

That makes no sense since this seems to be works so well.
I wonder if HTC leaked that purposely to test people or if it will change again.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks again to the leaker at tmo.

Not date yet. We'll let you know if we learn more.
I said it in another thread and I'll say it again. I have a feeling T-Mobile is holding off on the update so the One S can have the spotlight for another month. They probably figured that people would buy it since Ice Cream Sandwich is a big selling point.

These two tie in together. HTC wants to nail down an update schedule that the One S will have ICS for a while, gathering in sales, while the other phones will have to wait. Also, T-Mobile stores list our phone as 1.5 ghz dual-core, they don't really specify that it's produced by Snapdragon or that it is an S3. Clearly, it would look bad that the One S and the Amaze have the same specs in a simpler manner, without going into specifics.
Some of you folks act like your phone is broke or completely ancient because it isn't rocking the current OS.
There is a leak for ICS, so what is the problem? If you want it so bad, download it and be on your merrily happy way. If not, go spend monies you probably don't have on a device that runs on it. Complaining over and over on something you can't control is beyond rhetorical.
Not like T-Mobile has ever been fast with the updates. This is nothing new......be glad if it comes out in June.

I agree just look around your own family. How many of them just want something pretty that's makes calls not everyone cares about all the bells and whistles.

My Amaze (bought in December) has multiple issues that have not been resolved on three separate handsets, and half a dozen factory resets. I'm not "whining" about not getting ICS sooner, I'm whining about not getting FIXES after way too long a wait.
The last word I've heard was, "we're working on a fix," "HTC is aware of the problem," while I continue to wait, and wait, and wait. Like the poor refugees in CASABLANCA
I'm willing to wait longer for solid fixes, and (crosses fingers) a replacement of Sense 3.0 with the much-improved 4.0. Frankly, I've gotten tired of factory resets and handset replacements that flush my progress and scores from games that I've paid for. It's not a requirement that my games are intact on a phone, but jeez, it got old after 12 weeks of ownership of this top-tier phone to be told, "don't install any apps, just use the phone as shipped."
I just feel that I've been made to wait through serial postponements while HTC and T-Mobile trumpet a newer, slightly better line of phones. Clearly, people who've already bought an HTC don't get as much respect or thought than the new customers out there. S'okay, if the ICS update arrives and doesn't fix the problems, I'll know what to do. Root, flash, or flip and get another brand. T'is a pity that modern manufacturers would rather disappoint their established customers while trying to attract new customers. It's a model that has destroyed many companies in the past.

You will be happy - until a newer, shinier, more powerful toy comes along. That's the nature of the beast. Then there will be the "why didn't I wait" threads popping up on the LTE site.
I'm probably going to wait until htc's next sprint flagship.
We already all know what qualcomm has in store, so I already know why I'm going to wait.
Also, I use my 4g, and don't see lte in my town too soon

actually I'll be happy for another year when they come with their next offering...just like I was happy for the year I had the 3d except the development for the lte will be much better because there won't be any proprietary drivers withheld that keeps roms from being complete ala cm9 a year later and still no camera. Cm9 is further along on the lte and its only been out a few weeks.

Seeking advice to buy this phone or not

Hello,
I recently switched to tmobile and am looking to buy a phone to use. I've been looking at HTC Sensation, HTC Amaze, and Galaxy S2. I was thinking to go with HTC Amaze, but I ran into many issues discussed on the net. So, here's my question. Should I buy this phone? Are the issues that bad? Or, can they be resolved by simply installing custom ROMs? I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you.
GT
I dealt with all 3 of them. GS2 is a POS. Sensation is has older harder (but better ROM development) and i love my Amaze. Does all I need it to do. You should get an Amaze.
Agreed with hasoon
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Although I love my Amaze its getting to the point where its becoming outdated and unsupported. I would go another route. IMHO.
Depends what you are looking for...
Pros:
- Decent Specs.
- Nice camera.
- microSD.
Cons:
- Due to HTC and the lack of source ROM dev isn't as plentiful as other phones.
- Issues with the back plate not fitting right and making creaking noises.
- Larger device (thickness).
- Sense (for me at least).
- Horrible backlight bleed from the buttons.
- Lackluster battery life.
If I was to go back in time, I would have picked up a Galaxy Nexus over the Amaze.
I was choosing among those phones too (including the blaze). Chose the amaze because it's screen was way better than Samsung crappy pentile offerings and it had a dedicated camera button. Battery life is pretty mediocre even with an anker extended battery. Battery life is a huge weakness since HTC refuses to release wireless source.

Thank you, everyone. I went ahead and bought a used one for $220. I hope it's worth it. Now, it's time to find a good ROM to use!
I personally suggest speedrom or energy rom love me energy

if you know where to look there is an awesome MIUI port floating around. That is what I am rocking atm.

Do it. This phone if my last one from HTC. They at one time ruled the smart phone spec now they just suck. Sport and Eclipze thanx for the great roms I have a feeling this will be abandonware real soon. Faux your still the kernel master. Last time I do an upgrade without doing all of my research. The One S is good but the lack of SD card is a no go and its made by HTC. Maybe the S3 when cyanogen gets released on it or dare I say it the iP...who am I kinding I'll never buy that phone I need wifi calling like a crack heads needs a rock.

What's even worse is how quickly their products recently have declined in resale value, minus the sensation for whatever frigging reason... Anything else, heck even the one s price is almost half of the s3 at this point... That's bad news

Key Lime Pie for the DNA a possibility?

First of all i would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the developers that have put their time and energy into the DNA.
Secondly i just wanted to inquire if there would be any possibility of the DNA getting Key Lime Pie (when it releases of course) with the assistance of the talented developer repertoire?
There's a possibility i'll win the lottery tomorrow.
So I would say yes, there is a possibility.
With HTC's track record and this being a Verizon only device, I would bet on no. Not to mention that they have already shifted their focus to the M7 which seems to be headed for a multi-carrier release. I'm sure they will go (almost) all-in with the M7 since it might make or break them in a lot of ways.
Just my opnion, but like was said above, anything is a possibility.

Which would be a shame. I was thinking about picking up this phone outright. The M7 doesn't impress me at all.

I'm not so sure VZW will be getting the M7 though.
and to the OP, we most likely won't see KLP officially on our phone, but considering the M7 is mostly the same hardware as the DNA, It SHOULD be easily ported. I had a rezound that had ICS and Sense 4 long before ICS was officially supported on the phone and that phone NEVER officially got Sense4.
not to mention someone already has Sense 5 on their DNA (sense 5 being released with the M7)
Has Key Lime Pie actually been talked about anywhere besides rumors though?? just curious.

What doesn't impress you about the M7?
The only "con" I can see is .3" smaller of a screen than the DNA. Other than that, it is mostly an improvement over the DNA.

If you already have the DNA, you shouldn't regret it. I doubt the M7 will be a night and day difference in performance. It all depends on Sense 5 for noticeable performance gains imo.

i dont regret getting my DNA. its an excellent phone. Key Lime Pie is slated for a release sometime in May, so i was just wondering if the DNA would get it in one way or the other. I mean, my OG Incredible got a Jellybean port lol

Your son most likely has it on full brightness and playing games all day because if you're comparing the battery life with the tb...oh man... But battery isn't bad at all

Yea, it doesn't have any of the red accenting (or anything similar to that) that gives the DNA it's premium feel.
Also, I believe that the DNA will get KLP since its so popular and such a super phone.

Yeah I am very interested to see how sense 5 is. I like 4+ but I hope that the scrolling from screen to screen isn't so heavy. That's the only reason I use nova prime on this phone.
