[Q] SuperCID on unlocked amaze - HTC Amaze 4G

Is this SuperCID thing a sim unlocking software? If i have a Officially unlock amaze & thuen do i need this? After i root my Amaze,do i have to SuperCID too?
TIA

Supercid lets you install the stock software from other carriers, so nope, it's not an unlocking method, we do have one of those too. But both require s-off.

Nope you don't have to, it's just one of those things a dev would need, though not necessarily with all the resources we have.

Unlocked bootloader through HTC

Ok so now that we can unlock our bootloader through HTC what's next? Does this turn S off? I know I'm going to have to install a recovery still, but does this give me the capability to install superuser? Does anyone have any idea what options I will have once I unlock it through HTC? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

No it does not turn off Ship S-off...And u cant flash a custom recovery either when using HTc unlocker
yes. with S off you can install custom recovery like any PG image
It doesn't take S-off. I have read that TWRP doesnt work and CWM has and hasnt worked.

ditto. i have only had this phone a couple of weeks and a waited a while anticipating the "official" unlock, but i couldn't stand it. i went ahead a did it and i'm glad i did. besides, htc doesn't need to know i'm rooted anyway.
HTC never said it would be S-off only that the bootloader would be unlocked. You still need to find an exploit to gain s-off so a custom recovery can be installed. If you remember the original Evo had an unlocked bootloader but you still needed an exploit like unrevoked's rage against the cage to gain access to s-off and custom recovery. You still have alot of work ahead of you and now you've voided any warranty that isn't hardware related. Also, it says on the HTC's website that once you unlock any future OTA's may brick your phone. You are definitely better off using Revolutionary.io.
so could unrevoked come up with something now that the bootloaders are unlocked with HTC? to root the phone.

Any new about SuperCID for 2.x firmware??

I just bought one DNA on ebay and this arrive with 2.06.605.1 firmware, I'm from Costa Rica and can't use this with the gsm network due to this firmware does not recognize any sim card. I need SuperCID to unlock the bootloader and change this ROM.

If you spent a small amount of your time searching the forums the term Moonshine would have come up.

I have spent many hours searching and moonshine does not work for me. It's needs to be bootloader unlocked for this.
If your sim card doesn't work stock it won't work with a different rom. The dna is factory sim unlocked.

It does not need to be boot loader unlocked. That is the main thing that moonshine does. However, some people have had difficulty getting it to work on their phones. Maybe you should give the other method a few tries. It is called RevOne.

I searched about this problem and is a common bug in this firmware: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/789312?start=150&tstart=0

That is something completely different. That is where the sim is working fine, but every once in a while it stops working, and you need to toggle airplane mode for it to work.

RevOne works fine thanks dudes!!!!
The problem with the sim still continues, seems to be a hardware problem.

Is there an RUU that works for the AT&T HTC one?

Just noticed after a week with the phone, that the screen is pulling up out of the phone :\. Going to bring it to a store, but don't want it to be rooted/Rom'd etc.
Thanks.
Yes there is,
Look for it on the general section on the ATT forum/
Keep in mind that running the RUU will erase the sdcard also/
So I need to oem lock the phone, then run the RUU correct?
Yes you have to relock ur bootloader with out the tamper flag being tripped

I've got issues with my microphone and need to exchange it too. I don't know what the implications are but I think restoring it back to stock makes sense. Can you post your notes for this process?

i'm very confused b/w s-off and rooting so i will be glad to know the answer<THANKYOU
You have to unlock your bootloader for s off so in the same process you can root it it won't harm you lol

Yes.. You mite need root permission to start s off process I can't remember that much I did it a lil long ago just flash 4ext and and install supersu and go ahead with s off it won't hurt you all it'll take is extra 5min
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
You don't need s-off to install roms from 4ext recovery tool. You only need s-off for updating radios and such. If you do want to try the wire trick make sure you have contact with metal by scraping away any white dot sticker that on some phones is under the holes.

Depends If you have other brand of amaze such as tmobile wind tellus or something EXCEPT Asian Version, if you have Asian Version which is CID_044 you need s off cuz we don't have ics.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Yup..
If you have Asian version of amaze and if you want to update your android version to Ics than you must perform s-off ,
Than flash RUU which is provided by aj and than hboot .
And after that you can flash supersu.zip to gain root access..
And if you don't want update ics and want only simple root with GB stock Rom
1) unlock bootloader
2) perform s-off (to be safe to perform further steps )
3) flash superSU.zip
Hit thanks if I helped you !!!

Rooting after the 4.3 OTA Update

Mind pointing us to a guide?
So the ota update didn't change or affect anything?? I've never seen that happen. Usually an ota update blocks any type our root exploit until someone figures how to crack it.

Ya that what I was thinking, before I go ahead with it-I require atleast one more confirmation that this is untrue
The only thing that got blocked is the exploit that allowed s off because hboot was updated

confirmed. you can still unlock and flash custom recovery like you always have, but the new hboot makes it impossible to s-off at this point (unless you pay for a java card or for a shop who has one to perform the s-off). There have not been any reports (to my knowledge) that ATT or HTC has blocked unlocking via htcdev.com

Which is why I said unlock bootloader first. Honestly, it's as simple as I listed it. And if you don't plan on flashing ruu's for other models, s-off isn't that big a thing. I have it, it's nice to have, but if all you want is to root, flash roms, etc, just unlock and flash custom recovery.

What happens if you run the exe file that is the GPE RUU from the HTC site (Brightstar) after you have OTA'd to 4.3 ATT version? This is my only phone so I didn't try for fear of bricking it, but it seems like it opens the rom upgrade utility program and would flash a different ROM, or does it check and then fail the install?

I guess it's a catch 22, can't s-off after 4.3 OTA, so can't change CID, or obtain the SuperCID status, is that what I am understanding at this point?
