Take the same picture after:
1. Wipe the camera lens
2. Go in settings and use Macro as focus mode for this kind of picture.
3. Make sure there is enough light on your object.
4. Keep your phone 100% steady.
The same or better results?

1. Go to camera settings and change the quality. Make it to 8Megapixel.
If there is no change in the quality.. 2. Try the HX camera mod (root needed)..

Yeah it must be defective, because in normal and good light the camera darn good for phone especially with the right settings,in low light it's a bit crappy to very crappy..
Try opening gallery app directly, take a short video recording and reboot a couple of times and dl. a camera app from market and check out the picture quality on that camera to,if the phone is brand new, maybe some of the software hasn't settled properly yet and these things might do the trick, because your pic's are really ****ty..
If that doesn't help, then go to the store an get it changed to a new gs3,because it's an awesome phone.
Good luck

I had no problem using the camera on the Atrix, I was taking some close up images recently and was impressed by its ability to do the pictures well. I used the stock camera app too.
The lighting situation was pretty bad, but they still turned out ok.

I think the quality of the pics are not bad at all, but I do notice that when you first open the camera app and the first photo you take never seems to focus very good. any after that focus fine. Even with tap and hold to focus, the first shot seems poor.
Here are a few good shot I got with mine unedited.

Atrix Camera
Not sure why some people are complaining about the camera on the Atrix. If you think it's bad, try using the camera on the Inspire. I had the Inspire before I switched to the Atrix, and lemme tell ya; the camera on the Inspire is disappointing, considering it's 8mp. Photos were grainy, and had a haze on most photos. IMO, I think the camera on the Atrix is pretty good. Photos are clear and sharp, and it's one of the fastest camera's on a cell phone I've used.

I think that most people don't realize is that thanks to the pentile display pictures don't look as good as they really are, if you transfer your pics to your computer you will see how good they truly are..
I would say that 75% (or maybe more) of the pictures I take with my photon are pretty good.. and 25% are great!
Using apps like Camera ZOOM FX, Camera 360 ultimate and HDR+ (not really a fan of the Vignette app)
You can improve your results.

in my opinion its best to take the picture without any effects and add the effect after with a program or something cause think about it this way ,take a picture in black and white (or any other effect ) and you lose some of the details about the picture that you never get back !
I like the camera on the Photon but I find that my battery life starts plummeting when I'm walking around snapping shots here and there all day. I don't know if it's the camera or maybe just the increased time the screen is on to take pictures. I try to keep my brightness as low as possible. Either way, I don't have to carry a separate camera on me to take pictures so I'm happy. Just need to remember to bring the charger.

Anyone have an extra FCC?

I have a rev1 that I successfully installed but since I go to concerts, I need a camera that won't have the low light banding, can anyone sell me one they're not using?

Let me refer you to my post in the Accessories forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1464103 I got mine from Amazon. However the one they sent me had issues and they are sending me a replacement. If you go straight to their website the camera is about 3 dollars more expensive and I don't know what difference it will make. But they are less than $15 or $18. And they are rev2.
Happy shopping.

Those are fake rev2 cameras, they will still give you very poor low light pictures (banding, blochines, etc) compare to stock vibrant camera.

I'm sorry about that. It worked just the other day. However if you send an email to the seller on Amazon I have had pretty good response from them. The guy I have been talking to is Paul. Maybe he can help shed some light on their out of stock issue.
So I found this ebay posting and wonder if anyone has got an FFC from them before? And if so are they good??
Mine looks exactly like yours (rev2 print and everything) and I still get banding with low light.
To me its like those 3000mha batteries on ebay that only cost $4

It would be great if people will share the information regarding where did they buy the camera.

Yes but not a long way. The original Note had problems whites appearing blue-ish and colours appear a bit over saturated. Some reviewers say this is to make the photos look good on the AMOLED screen. The Mega even has a wider field of view than the S4.
There is no doubt the camera IQ is not bad. However, the stock camera app is quite sluggish, especially when starting the camera and review photos. Hope cROMs in the future will help the situation a little bit better.

The stock camera app starts up in less than a second and opening the gallery from the camera app also takes less than a second. The photos are saved instantly right after pressing the capture button. I don't think that is sluggish. Are you saving photos on the memory card? I'm using a high speed memory card and I have no problems in speed.

It takes whole second to open the camera app and whole second to open the photo review.
It can be longer in some random time.
However, taking a photo is instant with no lag.

Tips for getting better pictures with the G2

I know that the camera is decent. Heck look at this guy's album on Google+
https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/+LukasFrimerTholander/albums/5945766779380687681?sort=1
No matter how hard I try, the pictures I take, almost always look washed out. In most of the reviews the camera was praised for colour accuracy and reproduction. I'm not talking about perfectly lit scenarios but more or less like the ones I've posted above. Do you guys leave yours at Auto , Intelligent Auto etc. Whatever tips and tricks you can share I'm sure will greatly benefit the community.
[I know there is a thread regarding the slow shutter and focus but that's not the point over here.]
Cheers !
Mine look as good if not better. I use AI most, normal and manual otherwise. Focus isn't slow for me, shutter speed regarding moving items in less than full blast light are and get blurry easy. Software fixes needed. My still shots are incredibly brilliant and accurate for a smartphone camera.

my two cents
I just took two pictures, one using normal and one using IA. the IA is FAR better for focus, speed of shot, etc. But there is some serious work that needs to be done on the software for this camera.

I personally feel on the stock camera app , the auto ISO is a little bit too sensitive, causing unnecessary noise. I usually set the ISO to 800 (the max it allows in manual control) and the shot turns out significantly better.
Using IA pictures are somewhat better ! . BTW can someone modify the camera to save the settings ? because it always starts on Normal mode !
I used Intelligent Auto for the pics of my Spigen Case, seems to have worked well.
These pics are actually lower quality than the ones on my computer because there was probably some compression done during uploading/
Does anyone know of a way to make the IA setting stick? Every time I leave the camera app I have to mess with settings to get it back. I've tried just hitting the home button and leaving the app open but it reverts. Annoying! !
I agree about always leaving it in hdr mode but I also can't find a way to set it to stick

Edit: took some pictures around the house, major improvement folks.
I'm going to Paris in about a month and will take dslr camera as main photo device, but I will also take pictures with G2.
For various shots I find iA and night mode in low light fine, but what mode do you recommend for city sights? Is it sports in the day and night mode in low light or should I use iA and will be fine?
