Hi,
I've noticed in the past couple of days that my screen turns on by itself for about 3 or 4 seconds.
Phone information in picture attached.
On the weekend I did an OTA update via Kies, on Wednesday I flashed This Kernel (SpeedMod S3) via Odin.
Anyone got any advice?

this usually happens when u have a certain app or a live wallpaper that does advertise on your phone ... try removing some apps that are for free but ad-supported or remove some live wallpapers and it should go away
Yeah thanks "striving-to-survive", I had noticed some notification adverts since the OTA update. I haven't added any apps. Unless its an app I updated. "AirPush Detector" used to tell me what was sending those notifications, however that detects nothing when I scan. Can anyone recommend something that does a similar job that might tell me where the notifications are coming from? I don't fancy just deleting a bunch of apps on the off chance they are the offender.
I do not think it is kernel related.
Download adfree and run it.

I wasn't sure if it was kernel related, just wanted to give as much info as possible about what I had done recently with my phone.
I have Ad Free, but just realised I hadn't hit the "download and install hosts" button since my OTA update.
I got Anti Spy Mobile Free, after scanning that said I have no spywares, 4 suspicious apps: Contapps, Phone Backup (HChina), ooVoo & MyBackup Pro. None of which I think would be responsible.
Hopefully Ad Free will sort it out.

Same issue for me with stock fw and kernel. I have a battery brain since two days and I can see my screen on time up to 4 hours per day without using my phone.

Update your hosts then and keep an eye on it. Check for hosts daily

I have similar issue. My phone also turns screen on by itself, but it looks like it stays on until I turn it off. This have happened about 4 times during week or two...
I have tried AirPush detector. Didn't find anything.
Anti Spy Mobile found 0 Spywares and 2 Warnings. Light Flow Lite and TrustGo Security. I have had Light Flow Lite for a long time, so I doubt it can't be it. TrustGo is quite new, but I think it's trusted app. Could it be the reason..?
AdFree is working and I don't see ads.
What should I try next?

Anybody use an anti-virus or anti-malware app like Lookout or Kaspersky Mobile? Is it even necessary and do they have any adverse affects on functionality or battery life?
Never used any anti-virus apps in the 2 years I've been rooting my android phones. I've literally downloaded hundreds of zip files and flashed them onto my old moment and my current shift. Also I never use task killers.
Edit: Forgot to mention the effects on battery life, I cannot say for anti-virus on my phones but that is the reason I stopped using task killers, even if u kill the application it will keep trying to run in the background, same thing happens with the anti-virus apps. Plus the anti-virus app will pop up a notification asking you permission for everything, and scans every single last file you download. Correct me if I'm wrong just the experience I had bc i had to convince my gf family to take the anti-virus/task killers off their phones bc it was just wasting their battery life.

That's what I'm wondering. I don't mind the pop-ups every time you download something but if it saps battery life, that would be a deal-breaker for me.
No noticeable difference with battery life. I use lookout only for locating phone and to make phone alarm from a secure web site. Once htcsense fixes/ improves their beta program of performing these same tasks I will use that

I'm using NetQin Mobile Security Pro (it's free in the market)... Haven't really tested it much but seems really smooth and has a lot of positive reviews. It gives you a lot of options like managing data traffic, backup contacts, and phone finder (some extra features require pro membership). But yeah... It's not all that important with Android but there is always a slim chance you download a malicious app or something, never know.
I have lookout running and haven't noticed any real extra usage in battery because of it.
I used to use Advanced task killer but found it more of a nuisance. Never worried about anti-virus since everything is screened by google before being hosted in the market and if something gets by the can remotely uninstall it, then a hard reset will fix anything that the app could have damaged.

I thought Google let anything on their market, but screened apps brought to their attention by users or companies like Lookout. In fact, Lookout has reported many malicious apps in Google's market.
Plus a co-worker's wife was a victim of a malicious app from Google's market. It started making unwanted calls and texts. I think the extra safety net is worth the minor battery drain. I notice no difference in battery or performance. I still get well over 16 hours of battery (I still have 40% at that time). I use Lookout too since they seem to be the one reporting most malicious apps found.
So I've been using Lookout since yesterday and haven't noticed any difference in my battery life.
Just a quick tip for Lookout - you can schedule when you want it to scan all of your files in the settings. (for those concerned with battery life impact due to scanning).

Lookout is awesome. the way i see it, it scans my apps to make sure no bad app slipped through the cracks and most importantly i can "scream" my phone anytime from the website. also, the wipe feature is for premium customers but my thinking is that you could purchase at the time of losing the phone and still be able to lock and wipe the phone. definitely a must-have.
I use Lookout, I've used a few other anti malware apps and didn't like them. To many malicious apps on the Market to not have it.
Google only checks apps if they receive complaints.
Anybody have experience with Antivirus Free from Creative Apps? Seems to be less of a memory hog but I'm not sure how effective it is.

Anyone tried Super Security Standard? I've seemed to have good luck with it and it only scans when I tell it to or when I dowloadan app.

Has anybody checked their battery usage and noticed AVG anti virus just drains the crap out of the battey? I kill this app about 70 times a day because its running in the background always. I can understand running while installing an app or downloading something from browser. But why killing my battery while the device is idle? Anybody here not use anti virus at all? I thought about getting rid of it but I'm a frequently visit of "other" app markets not ran by google or Amazon. If it makes a difference, I'm running unnamed 1.3.1 with setcpu on conservative. Both my wife and I had an 'anti-virus' on our phones for a few months and nothing 'malicious' was ever found.
Nor have we ever had a 'bad' app. At least none that we had installed on our phones that got any news about it being malicious elsewhere on the internet.
Not saying it's not doing anything. But I haven't even heard of anyone being saved from a rogue app by having an anti-virus on their phone.

I just checked, and it is at the bottom of the list. Did you set it to auto-scan daily our something? Or maybe you have a virus that it's trying to defend against.
My phone lasts 19 hours per charge with light-moderate use. I only see AVG when I install apps. I have never even see it do its weekly scan.
If you have AVG pro, maybe someone is using AVG's remote feature to track your GPS positions.
By the way, I hope that when you say that you keep killing it because it is running in the background, it is because you see it running in the task manager (hold down the home key), not in settings-> applications-> running services...because the items in the latter list are just services. Services are basically apps that get CPU time once in a while to see if anything needs to be done (they aren't using the CPU constantly like an app in the foreground would).
Is there anyway to figure out where they are coming from? I tried removing the last couple of apps I downloaded but I still get one occasionally. Thanks in advance

What ROM are you running? Come from? Odd apps with stranger permissions? Have you tried LBE Privacy Guard to see what is sending/receiving?

That app the jr67 posted the link to seems really promising. I think you should check that out. I have D9 as my "home" ROM and I haven't seen these yet. But I am hyper-maintenance oriented though, so that might be why. Also might want to look into Adfree on the market too.
Yeah I downloaded both apps mentioned and I am now monitoring. I do have adfree however it says my host file is up to date. I will post a screeny if it pops back up.

Hey, woodrube, if you're really curious about what those notification ads look like try installing a call filter app called Easy Filter. It was actually a pretty good call filter but it wasn't worth putting up with all those ads.
AdAway is a good alternative to Adfree. They work the same way but Adaway also let's you blacklist/whitelist specific sites yourself. You can try digging through the logcat to find the site that's delivering the ad then blacklist it.
Autostarts = win
once you figure which app is the culprit (and presuming its an app that you want to keep), purchase an app called "autostarts". it is well worth the $1 or whatever it is. the app is pretty self explanatory, it prevents apps from opening by themselves under certain conditions. open the app, let it populate scenarios, and just go through each category and if you see the culprit listed - DISABLE THAT *****.
once you do this, you will now be able to kill/force stop the app whenever youre done using it, and you will never see/hear from it again until you open it yourself.
i use this method for Blood & Glory, and no ads for me ever.
DISCLAIMER: Autostarts is a VERY powerful app and you are definitely going to want to explore it, but dont fool around with system apps unless you are 100% sure you know what you are doing. this goes the same for any other app that is important to your personal desired functionality of your phone (third party texting apps, facebook app, twitter, camera, etc.)
what i personally did was downloaded a conventional task manager to find out which apps like to plot behind my back. i made a list of the ones that never have any business being open unless i open them, then went into autostarts and disabled them under the rescpective scenarios. this program is fantastic for saving battery and RAM
Yeah thanks a lot. I think I got rid of it but not sure which app was causing it because I uninstalled a few at once. I will keep that app in mind if I ever run into this problem again.

Also, I think these are tied to a specific app I've installed - anyone know which one might be causing this? I've never seen ads like this in the notification tray - they show up with a big green "+" sign.

if this is something that's been occurring recently, check the notifications for any recent apps you installed.
adaway works great for me and dramatically increases browser page loading speeds. does a great job at eliminating ads.
This typically happens when you download a free app. Paying for the app should not give you pop ups. In my past i havent had any luck with ad blocker. I use adhoc on my HTC Sensation.
I had the same thing. And they are right. It is from a free app. I tried everything to get rid of it and could not even when I deleted all apps I installed. I ended up resetting to factory and reinstalling apps. No problems since.
Download addons detector from the market and see what app is the culprit of the leadbolt ads. Then uninstall it.
Ad Network Detector by Lookout Labs.
They're almost always spot on at identifying the programs that are causing the annoying issues.

I would have recommended adfree (rq root) but it reduces flash functionality for video playback on some websites
Installed "airpush detector" from the market and discovered that Tablet Wallpapers was the app giving me the spam in my notification bar. Uninstalled it, so hopefully that will do the trick!

All the above mentioned apps worked for me as well. I am ad free now! The best for me was Ad Network Dedector whitch found all kinds of apps on my Prime. Good luck!
If an app is sending ads to your notifications bar, you should find out which app it is, leave the most negative review possible regarding the notification bar ads (but be polite, people ignore reviews filled with curse words) and then uninstall the app.
If people don't use an app because it has notification ads, then app developers will stop using this method of advertising to promote their products.
Honestly though, Google needs to step in and stop people from spamming the notifications bar with advertisements. That area is for important information, not crap like "50% Off Downloadable Armor in Blood & Glory!"

I use airpush detector, it works quite well, I haven't had any apps that push without it identifying them so far.

YIKES!,,,,I hope I don't have to go that route....
Lookout Security & Antivirus found mine in ChargeBar Free Edition,
ChargeBar came embedded in the NottachTrix 2.3.0 ROM.
I installed it (NottachTrix) and it (ChargeBar) didn't update for 3 months, then, BANG.
I've deleted ChargeBar's update, moved it from system apps to apps, deleted it, and the browser pop open 'ad.leadboltads.net' still persists.
Lookout Security & Antivirus can not find the new location of the malware, they do not have a forum.
By the very definition and behaviour, this is malware, and, ChargeBar (Asgard Casino Apps) is involved in the distribution of malware.
Asgard Casino Apps distributes 34 apps that behave this way.
They are using Google to distribute this malware, abet, that app is benign in its origin, its a pipeline, or conduit for malware.
Sneaky F##kers aren`t they.........

I'm just having the same issues and none of these suggestions helped.. really dont wanna factory reset..
I set a data usage limit in my phone, because I was using a lot of data. After doing it, it alerted me that my mobile data was about to go over and cut off. So scrolled down and discovered these 2 "Android " (looked like the little green Android robot ) and they are named "10193" & "10194" 10194 runs in the foreground all the time and 10193 runs in the background all the time. I was told these are "Kaspersky Mobile Security or Parental Control Monitor" I'm 34yrs old and my parents don't monitor me, please help...

I do not think I did or ever had I looked at all the appsI have installed via play store under the all section of "my apps" and do not see it.
Why do you say it is Kaspersky? My phone has been having some really weird things happening to it. I went though 3 batteries in 2 months, its been using a ton of data. My data just reset on 10/29/13 and it is already at 5gb. Also we have been finding "duplicate processes" running in the application manager. I really don't know what to do, I have installed Avast, Look out, and some other antivirus apps nothing has helped. Reset a few times and it will help it for a little bit and then boom its right back

I recommend wiping completely and start fresh with a new ROM. You could also install an app like Data Manager and see which app is using the most data and uninstall. Also, do not install apps that you download off the internet. Only download from reputable sources like the Play Store and Amazon app store.

this is going to sound crazy, but i just got that phone back up and running in January. But that is what I did,,,
The reason I said Kaspersky is because this guy I know said he "googled " those numbers and symptoms a
and deemed it that. IT did have a spy wear type thing on it but it was not Kaspersky. It was one that was
sent from a website and it has to be removed via the website. I don't remember the name. Anyhow I have
long since ditched that phone and on to bigger and better things. But w/ that phone it has sparked an interest

Hi Everyone, I know this is a very old thread, but I want to give out a solution because I just encountered this 10194 app as well.
I would like to post this for future reference to other people who will encounter this since I've done searching around about this but I can't find any solution.
To remove this app you must:
1. Open Settings and tap [Security] or [Security and Finger Print] or any other name it might now posses.
2. Under this settings entry, you'll see [Device Administrators], tap that
3. Inside [Device Administrators] you'll see that there is a blank application containing a space as well and the indicator should be ticked, that means this app has administrator access to your phone, it has access to calls, messages, email accounts, etc. See: here
4. Tap this app and [Deactivate] or [De-authorize] it
5. Now go back to the main settings list and navigate to [Apps] or [Applications]
6. Tap the app and you can now uninstall it.
I highly recommend changing your passwords for any account that might have been on that phone, there is a high possibility that this app has gathered information on you.
This includes phone call lists, phone call recordings, your contacts, your messages, notes, emails, etc.
This is a speculation of course and will highly depend on the amount of data this application has passed to wherever it connected to but it is safe to assume that you have been infected by malware and your previous information has been compromised.
