The best custom ROM for Galaxy S2? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
It is maybe stupid to ask, but I would Like to know what is the best custom ROM for Galaxy S2, based on stock ICS 4.0.4? On many sites I have read that the Resurrection Remix the best custom ROM is. Is that thru or what is your opinion?
Is there any good custom ROM based on stock JB for S2?
Thanks

Wrong move buddy. Read the rules hope you find the "best" custom rom that suits you

Try Batista70 2.4 + speedmod kernel K2-16...
Allow me to quote myself:

It gets asked all the time, and as one might expect, you'll just get replies from people saying "I use x ROM with y kernel and I recommend it because z".
There is no suitable answer to your question, instead I would recommend you take a deep breath and have a read through what's already been written and decide for yourself what to pick.

I'm running checkrom revolution atm. I've tried many roms and personally find this the best by far. There's online kitchen app with it a but like rom manager so you can change anything like themes, apps, widgets and even modems! Check it out

thats correct i think that i need to try and try some ROMs but im little bit confused need some advices i mean: like the top5 or top10 or roms so i can give it a try
thanks for all answers
i saw two CheckROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251688
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312240
what are the differences between each other?
I have been using VillainROM for ages now, have tried the rest but keep going back to VR. Best battery and closest to stock (I don't normally theme).
However, your question is a bit subjective, everyone looks for different things in a ROM.
Best way is to try a few and see which you prefer.

Try Batista70 2.4 or 2.5. the best of the best!
I suggest you learn how to flash and try out a newer deodexed stock like KJ2, then start flashing customs if you don't like the behaviour of stock roms. Usually stock are very good with the right kernel.

Hardcore's SpeedMod K2-15 is pretty sweet. Give it a search up top ^
In my opinion HyperDroid-Androidmeda is one of the best ROM's
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288850
For sure it's worth to try. Some people were able to get over 6h display on this ROM
I recommend checkrom revolution v1 with cf root or speedmod and bigbanghds ICS theme. Looks nice, fast, good battery, mostly stable.

so the steps to flash my galaxy s2, are:
1-first root galaxy s2
2-then backup efs
3-then flash it with custom rom?
im right?
thanks
I wanna flash something similar to stock samsung, but better, like no home button lag, the samsung hubs removed, crapware removed, which rom do you like better? villain rom or cognition? both look similar

Question about rooting Galaxy S II

Hi,
I really want to get pure ics on my galaxy s II. Currently i'm on 2.3.4 gingerbread, unrooted.
I have asked a few questions about how to root my phone, and found a pretty straight forward tutorial, that users on xda have said is great to follow:
jayceooi.com/2011/08/04/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s2-with-cf-root-video
Rooting the phone appears to be pretty straight forward using the above tutorial, but finding the correct rom is what im not so sure about.
Users on xda have told me to use:
forum.xda developers.com/show....php?t=1075278 , to find a rom, specifically the ones just above ++++++ [Frankenstein Firmwares] +++++++
The only problem is, how do i know which one to use, i gather its going to be the 4.0.3 roms, but there are so many varients for different countries, which one is for me?
Does it matter which one i choose? Is there differences between them?
*I have previously posted this thread elsewhere, and members have told me to resubmit it here, as I may get more help. I couple of forumers have mentioned that I should use the xwlp4 ROM as it is the latest ICS ROM.
Thanks,
By pure ics do you mean ics without touchwiz etc or do you mean a stock Samsung rom?
The Frankenstein ones on intratechs thread are Samsung based.
If you want pure ics without any of the Samsung bloat cm9 is a great option and is already 4.04
If you want Samsung based then the latest is lp4 I think.

yeah, basically i want my Galaxy S II running ICS with no touchwiz

If this is the case forget all the ROMS in Intratechs section, even the Frankenstein ones as they are all samsung originals with all the samsung apps and touchwiz.
If you are looking for a root / pure ICS option CM9 is a good start with terrific dev support. I've been using it for a while now and it really is rock solid and keeps improving.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102
ok cool, would that be the equivalent of something like this:
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-r...ro-ics-rom-v-1-1-on-galaxy-s2-i9100-best-rom/
Not used that one myself but looks to be closer to the pure ics you are after.
I'd still give cm9 a try. There is a resurrection edition flashable through Odin.
Definitely preferable to the Samsung official ones!

SlimICS might work
You may want to search for Slim ICS... It's another light option.

I currently use this ROM. It has Apex Launcher so no Touchwiz, but it does have Samsung apps.
Although I'm no fan of TW or any of these apps, the ROM itself is great.
Go for HyDrOG3N-ICS with Siyah Kernel Best rom and kernel combo you're going to find out there for PURE ICS and lots of customization. It's stable, fast and really good battery life.

Choosing a ROM for my S3

I'm new to flashing ROMs though I already rooted my S3 and have Mobile Odin installed.
Am I right in assuming that most ROMs ate better than the stock Android 4.0.4 firmware for the S3? If so, which is the best ROM that I should be flashing to my device?
A ROM is somewhat of a modified firmware that is based on the stock one, right?

You will notice this question has been asked 1000+ times before
And always results in the same answer
No-one can tell you what the best rom is as each individual has a different opinion or specific needs for a ROM
Are you looking for a Ice cream sandwich ROM (AKA ICS) latest official release for S3
Or a Jelly Bean ROM (AKA JB) Based on leaked S3 builds
I personally use Hypergalaxy 1.6 Jelly Bean ROM
All you can do is try a few ROM's an see which one works for you best
Here is a list Of all ROM's and kernals mods etc.

My experience with WanamLite is awesome. It's based off of latest XXLDI5 and is amazing.
BTW, you can get Galaxy Note 2's gallery and Camera app from Themes & Apps forum.

[Q] From AOKP rom to Samsung based rom

Hi guys,
I have tried looking for answer to this question but cudnt and gave up in the end.
I currently have GT-I9100 Resurrection Remix JB v3.1.2 [AOKP JB (4.1.2) and want to install Omega v17 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 which i believe is based on samsung XXLSJ.
Do i have to follow certain steps to go from AOKP to samsung based roms or just can just install it directly from recovery.
Thanks.
Avi
Its a great opportunity to learn. Make a backup, flash and try to use it.
The thing is, unless the people who made the ROM dont state explicitly, its really hard to ensure it will work.

Have a look at the OP from the rom-thread. Almost always there are descriptions for how to flash it.
And to make it a little easier: changing roms between AOKP, AOSP or Samsung based roms allways need a full wipe, plus the OP's own recommended steps for flashing.
Sent from the Matrix
Most of the time standard 3 steps would be back up, full-wipe, then flash the new rom + gapps.
In case of any failure, you can still restore the back-up-ed rom.

Omega is a custom ROM.If you want a stock ROM you will need to flash one via Odin so let us know where your from.If you want you can update Omega instead.
Custom ROMs give you more options and more mods/themes etc. than stock ROMs also.

im just a little mad about Omega's rom speed its annoying
as i saw its abut 800 mg size and its too much i think and may be thats because it is slow
i just find a link "Guide to Install HyperLight ROM on Samsung Galaxy S3 l9300" its just 187.09 mg
whats your idea guys?
im a lil confused
please help me out
AOSP based ROMs take much less space than Samsung based ones, has nothing to do with speed
