i think a lot of people in XDA uses Stock Jelly Bean. Is there any one who still uses ICS?
Yes, mainly for the kernel support
Edited, because Swype thinks "mainly" is the same as "flash" lol

I'll try JB later on, ics is really stable now
Inviato dal mio GT-I9300 con Tapatalk 2
yep, was using RandomBlames Jellytime on my DHD. But fell back to ICS (CheckRom) on my S3, why? Because ICS is soo stable and it all works, so I'll give the devs some time to sort out the foibles with an official JB release before jumping ship.
Jellybean's still too buggy to use everyday and just doesn't have enough extra features to put up with the hassle.
i dont think i will update to JB because the MX player that supports DTS doesnt't work on JB, and the updated version that does work on JB had DTS removed because of licensing isssues.
So i rather play MKV's with sound on ICS than to use JB with a worse video player.
Once kernel sources are released for JB, ill start using it.. that memory leak is just annoying.
Till then CM9.1 will do me just fine !

I still use ICS on latest firmware

Still on stock (but rooted) ICS, too many problems with JB still.
Like many previously answered, I still use ICS for its stability.

You mean to say that you've never had a problem that you couldn't ignore. The latest LH9 leak is worse than the earlier leaks. LH7 was probably the best.
The most major issues for me were:
FC on keyboards, including Samsung's
Non-Working LED notifications
Strobe LED on charging
Ugly gray status bar
Terrible autobrightness (much worse than ICS) and defaults set way too low
There were a few others mentioned in the thread, but for me, I'll happily wait on LH1 with Domination Theme anyway. When Vertimus makes Domination for JB, I'll probably update.
I keep trying jb roms but non ever float my boat always some kinda issue ether lagg or fc so I'm still rocking fox hound ics its sexy and smooth without the Bs, I'm forever tempted when a new jb rom arrives but deep down know it will fail:banghead:

Thanks. Since this is my first ICS rom, I have to check on that rom you mentioned. I am a noob. Bought this i9100 with this ROM already on it.
struggling with all the search results
Although I can't attest to it, I did see a few people complaining about touch lag in both XXLPB and XXLPH. They're both leaks after all, and not official yet. You'll want to wait for a while till kernel sources or an official ICS ROM comes out.
CheckROM will be flawless due to it being based on a Gingerbread ROM, and any other GB ROMs for that matter (I used CheckROM and its pretty responsive). If you want, you can switch to them temporarily until a better ICS alternative comes, or stay there and wait for a better one.

Why scrolling on ICS roms (sammy and aosp) are worse than on Gingerbread? It really sucks. I just don't get it since ICS is supposed to have hardware acceleration and all. It stutters a lot and is not as smooth as gb. I've been using paranoid rom for some time now and I've tried almost everything available on xda and while ICS has clear advantages over gb, scrolling is not one of them. I just went back to cm7 just to make sure (it'd been a long time since I'd used it and I didn't remember very well) and scrolling is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better. Isn't it possible to make ics scrolling better? Am I missing some config or tweak that fixes this?
ICS has only recently been shipped out, give Samsung some time and they'll iron out these things
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
I can only agree. The scrolling in ICS on Galaxy S2 is poor. It is stuttering and this makes it unpredictable and very unpleasant to look at. The latest (XWLPG) firmware doesn't help at all. In my view, ICS is a beta product due to this single flaw. It may be functional, but not as good as GB good.
I am therefore running GB again.

As they said - "TO EACH IS OWN". it really is a preference for the user if they want ICS or GB. Feature wise, ICS offers a lot more than GB. Stability wise, yes its GB. Just my two cents
Agreed. The scrolling sucks. Stutter, stu stu stutter...
I never knew how bad scrolling could be until these stock-based Samsung ICS ROMs came out. As you lift your finger off the screen, the tracking is way too sensitive and sometimes this causes the scrolling to go flinging off into the opposite direction, or too far in the same direction you were traveling before you lifted your finger. This isn't necessarily an ICS problem, because CM9 and AOKP based ROMs on the SGS2 don't suffer from this issue, so it's obviously something Samsung is doing. Changing kernels and playing around with different touch sensitivity / vitalij settings doesn't really help. I'll be curious to see if the stock-based ROMs on the SGS3 do the same thing.
I'm having the exact same problem. Tried everything from pure stripped down ICS ROMS to heavily customized ones and the scrolling sucks as compared to GB. It's a shame the UI experience is worse on ICS when it is the biggest factor in user experience. The SGS2 has very powerful hardware (even by today's standards) and shouldn't stutter while simply scrolling between homescreens or app menus. It really just ruins the experience for me.
Any new on the next android update? I hope they're not stopping at 4.0.4 cus there's a lot more to be done.

It has nothing to do with samsung. It's ICS itself. Using custom non-samsung ICS roms (even pure google ICS experience ones) stutters just as much.

I'm using XX series of ROMs and with exception of the first one (LPQ) scrolling is perfect, especially on XXLPW. I read somewhere on this forum that Samsung implemented different scrolling engine on ICS ROMs so actually we shouldn't much compare these two stock ROMs families. ICS was supposed to behave a little different from the beginning. Anyway, I've noticed the differences in scrolling mechanism on ICS but cannot say single bad word about its fluency nor speed.

Hey,
So on sgs2 the ICS update was not as smooth as gingerbread, now that the new update is out, is there any improvements in smoothness of the phone or is the touch still same as ICS?

look, gingerbread is much more smoother than ics, but ics has a lot of known advantages and updates over GB
I have realized that cm9 and 10 will never be properly stable on the ace (and even if they do it will be after a long time, months probably), almost all the releases have battery drain and camera problems.

but camera takes a lot of battery, around 10 percentage after taking 2 pics. And also the rom lags after flashing gapps.

I honestly can't wait for JB. I flashed it on my friend's Tmobile GS2 and it was flawless. HQ video wasn't working though. But who uses it anyway.
It was epic nonetheless. Could be officially used as a daily rom. I'm still waiting for the day JB can be used on the Ace like that. I've never tried it. Can someone confirm if it's as fluid as they say it is? The day I try it is gonna be when I decide to use it as my daily rom.

Well, i'm using MIUI SnapSeries for a while and i think its great. Unfortunatelly have battery drain (half day in some cases, without using wifi constantly) camera bugs and others little things, but the rom itself its very fast. I've got 2300 in antutu benchmark with this rom, not even cm7 gave me that. I will try PAC now and see how it's going.
I am using jellaxy CM10 build 5/10/12 with michies's performance package and nims11 Kernel and the ROM runs awesome.
no lags so whatever after using michie's performance package
and Deep sleep works for me even if i use camera and Bluetooth
if u wanna have deep sleep and also wanna use Camera.with preview then download Camera illusion from market and use HD mode.
I turned Bluetooth on and after switching it off I locked my Ace and after that checked deep sleep time and it had increased.
well im sticking with MIUIXXX its really stable (i dnt have reboots or anything), and its eyecandy too

but I'm waiting for Camera to be completely fixed
about features cm7 is good enough for phone.. hardware accelerated UI has not been that good on ace in anyway.. ICS launchers are equally smooth on gingerbread... no ICS goodies works good enough
browser improvements was main but stock ics browser lags like hell (chrome not supported ) and on our so called 278 ram size ics runs awful..
GB roxx until i change my phone.. non the less android is so fragmented that gingerbread support will not die until 5-6 years from now

Im currently running Tron 1.2 and love it. I have also used Rage 2.3. Both seem very stable and i have very little issues besides my internal SD which i dont think is rom related because its happening on several roms and just started. The streaming and recording seem to be an issue with the JB and the rezound. It might effect other devices but not sure on that. That something that we will just have to wait for a fix on.
