I'll be right in the middle of texting or on Facebook and the phone will randomly shut off, battery life isn't really a factor although it seems the less charge, the more shutdowns. I've had the phone for 3 weeks and it recently just started doing it. I have read up a little bit on the issue and It seems like a faulty battery or a bug in the SD card causes it. I did a factory reset and formatted the SD card and It's still happening. What is the best (Most affordable) replacement battery for these phones? Is the anker a good alternative or just OEM?

I did this and have not had any issues in over a month. I aslo got a new back case by tellin gthem my signal was really unstable. IF you are nice and tell them you dont have a credit card you can get them to escalate it and send without you haveing to give them your cc number.
So the replacement won't have the same problems as the OEM? Did they fix the issue? Why would I need a new back case, what's the point?
So I called. They said I need to provide a CC number, so in case I don't send the defective battery back they can charge me MSRP, how do I request to cancel the order? I think I'm just going to try and trade the phone for something else...
When the phone spazs out, and I turn it back on the battery is about 20% less. I completely drained it, charged it all night and its been on for 4 hours, It's currently at 16%

They won't send me one unless I pay postage to send mine back, I ordered two OEM ones from eBay, thank you for the offer, hopefully the new battery fixes the issue. I had my MyTouch 4g for over year, never had a problem with it till the charger port became loose.

Lucky, I'm hoping my problem is just a battery, its not consistent, it just randomly happens. I have to manually turn it back on when it shuts down.

I had the exact same issue as yourself. I got a free replacement from t-mobile. It was a temporary fix as many other users had previously stated, Maybe lasted a week or two till the random shut downs returned. I converted my phone back to stock as per the directions on this forum warranty exchanged it with t-mobile for free. I received my new one, Used hasoon's toolkit, S-off etc... It has been working flawless ever since. Running Energy Rom.

I had a similar problem. For me it seems to be related to the battery/phone overheating. Removing the t-mobile cover I had on the phone seems to have reduced the random shut-downs.
When I have time, I'll likely be contacting HTC for a replacement battery.
I've never owned a phone that makes me as upset as this one, this random shut down issue is a real inconvenience, If the new battery doesn't fix the issue, I'm sending it into HTC getting it repaired and selling it, I'll even take 200$ for the damn thing just to get rid of it!

Get the Anker battery on eBay or Amazon. I had several shutdowns a day with stock battery. I've a couple Anker batteries and the phone stops the auto reboot/random shutdown completely. Something is fxcked with the stock battery.
yo people..I have a I9300,the phone fal in the watter few months ago, everything is working excluding charging battery, its indicating battery overheating issue. My questione is it is pasible to dissable warning about battery, switch it off or just delate some system file??Flash it in zip or so.
hope u would know how to do this.
As far as I know the battery temperature sensor is inside the battery, if this is the same battery that was in the phone when it got wet then this sensor is probably damaged (or the battery is damaged and is actually overheating?).
Try another battery first off, I would not disable the temperature alarm - it's there for a reason.

You might be lucky,
I had that exact same problem with my sgs2 the error came up once every 2 minutes for the whole day.
I noticed that however, while running cm9 (10 wasn't out yet) it didn't show up, so I was forced into cm until the problem somehow fixed itself.
Try out cm10 and see if the error still shows up, if it does, go for cm9 then, I'm 70% sure that it won't show there.
Best of luck.

Could you elaborate more about what this screen is?
If you had it you would know what I'm talking about for sure.
If you were just asking in general. It all appears to be a screen that gives you an option to go into download mode after your phones hardware resets. Phone boots into it.
I got a black Demigod screen on my old phone Friday. It was the proverbial straw on a phone that was rebooting itself daily - I exchanged it on the weekend.
The black screen was, I believe, for a kernel panic. I got the same 3 options: Download mode, reboot to normal and something else...
Does your phone get poor battery life. Does it make noise when you squeeze it? I wonder if all these issues are related. You should have your phone replaced. My phone does not give me any of the problems people are talking about

Yep, I got the yellow screen this morning. I was like WTF is this? Rebooted and all is fine now. We'll see how long it lasts. Any idea what causes this?

Was told in irc that its a mode the phone goes into that allows jtag over usb. If it does it again im just taking this one back too. Everything seems normal after a reboot for me too, something is changing when it happens though because my hosts file reset both times.
Both times it happened i was on sk8s kernel. But i havent seen anyone else on it say anything about it and i was on sk8s on my old phone too and it didnt do it.

They definitely know more. No doubt about it. At least we know one thing. I got it on stock while others got it on a ROM. So I'd assume that it's a hardware issue or an issue that's buried in the software. See, I just covered all the bases. Lol

I'm on the Sprint LGOG and I just had it happen too.

Is all fine and dandy until you miss an alarm.
I just got the Demigod screen too.
All I've done to my phone is root it and unlock it with FreeGee.
EDIT: I had noticed that the phone was acting somewhat strangely the past couple days (slow response, screen not turning on when I press the power button, multitasking screen not appearing/not responsive). Now it seems alright even though I had rebooted the phone prior to the Demigod screen to try and resolve these issues.
So this morning I start playing music on my phone as I'm getting ready to take a shower (shower off at this time) and then the music stops - of course, the phone doesn't respond to the power button. So, I've tried recalibrating the charging circuit and booting into hboot, but with no luck. The charging lights do not turn on and the capacitive lights do not flash when holding the power (or any other additional combination of) button. I'm going to leave it on a charger for a day or so and see if I can get anywhere then. In the meantime, is there anything else you can advise me to try? I've read that disconnecting the battery for a few moments might do something, so I think that'll be my next step if keeping it on the charger doesn't result in anything.
Any advice is welcome, of course.
Cheers,
Griffin
Yeah so far the only thing I have seen with people who have had the same problem were disconnecting the battery. Or most people just get a replacement.

So I disassembled it and pulled the battery for about ten minutes and reconnected it - to no avail. Is there a way I can test the battery? I have access to a multimeter, but I'm not entirely sure where to make contact on the battery's connector. I'm going to leave the battery disconnected for several hours and see what I can do then.
I seen in another thread like this about calibrating the battery but I can't find it.
to calibrate battery turn phone off and plug device into outlet press and hold power volume up and down at the same time until device poowers one or two minutes has passed if two minutes has passed call htc or asurion and replace it

Welp, battery disconnected for ~24 hours and then attempted recalibration - nothing. I think I've got a bad component somewhere in there. I'm going to take up Best Buy's blue HTC One for $30 on Black Friday, but I'm definitely going to see if I can find out what's wrong with this thing, this hardware is not going to waste!
Thanks for the advice everyone!
Try another charger, maybe the one you've been using is bodied.
The same thing happened to me, I used my warranty and luckily I had 2 days left. I think we should start to really look into this problem, because I see it popping up more and more, and it is kind of **** that one year after this phone came out and everyone phone is bricking with no easy solution.
Were you rooted/rommed and what rom?
Rooted n ROM has nothing to do with it charging

Mine crapped out in a similar fashion last week. Disassembled it yesterday and also had no luck with disconnecting the battery.
Anyone hook up a volt meter to these bricked phones? It might be a bad batch of batteries, or they just give out after a year of heavy to medium use. Anyone try a replacement battery? I am just hoping this phone doesn't randomly give out like this, but the trend seems to show sooner or later they just brick themselves.

I'm not sure if it is the battery specifically, yet.
Hate to necro a thread, but we're always asked to search, so..
Did you ever get this resolved, OP? Mine literally just did the same thing. I was watching a YouTube video and it died in my hands. Full battery, had just taken it off the charger like 30 minutes prior. Absolutely no activity, no lights, no flashing, nothing. Get nothing when attaching it to the computer, too.
I'm really hesitant about getting a replacement because I don't want to be somewhere where I NEED the phone and have this happen. I guess I'll get a replacement and sell it for another phone. Damn.
Disconnect it from the charger for an hour, then connect it to a charger and wait a half hour to see if the charging light comes on and then turn it on.

It happens so suddenly. The phone has been flawless since I got it. The only thing I can think of that was weird was a hard reset last week, but I just chalked that up to CM nightly issues. Oh well.
So i've had some battery issues for quite a while now, on every single rom. These were mainly that the phone always seemed to think it was charging, but the battery "value" dropped. Battery also lasted half a day or so, even with Apolo regular. Lastly, from time to time, after resetting it, the phone would be at around 14% and start increasing every five minutes or so. So i just dealt with all that for a while, noticing that usb almost never worked and it would take the phone a bit to realize it was actually charging (it wasn't always "passively charging").
So the other day, i turned it off due to low battery, just saving some time later. Then i see the battery "loading" icon, then a green battery 3/4 full with the 5 dots in the bottom, it would get to the third one, then vibrate and turn off. I tried turning it on only to see the S II splash and having the phone turn off instantly. I also tried turning it on while charging, no luck. So finally, i tried google, and found this. I did it with a paper clip and a toothpick, it seems to be separated but there is a tiny bit of dust i believe. Well this did nothing for me and now i'm desperate to fix this battery problem that i have. And pretty sure i can't return the phone cause i violated the warranty.
PS: Running AllianceROM 4.1.3

Seems kind of a desperate means, isn't there a way i can do that without replacing it?
You got the best possible advice & a simple/cheap (guaranteed) fix from the person who is the expert on this sort of problem with this phone & you're questioning it ?
*shrugs*
Your phone stays like that then.
You *might* get a temporary fix by playing around with the contacts within the port.....but even if it works, it will ONLY BE TEMPORARY......
The Samsung service centres will certainly NOT faff around and desolder/resolder a new port to the board.....they'll just replace the entire board.
It's not like you are replacing the entire motherboard because on the S2 (unlike on some phones) the USB board and the motherboard are separate........
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
it happens when your charging port is having a short connection. perhaps u'd need to change the charging port. if your device is shorted or not, it can be tested. if you have a multi-meter, you can easily test it.
