Hi all,
I installed a kernel on my phone so that I was able to Root my device.
My phone was booting up and I saw the yellow explenation mark underneath the the Samsung Galaxy S II logo.
There's only one issue, my phone won't start, it freezes at the boot logo and won't do a thing :/
How can I fix this?
It freezes or is it in a bootloop?
If you got into bootloop, check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108499
see this !!!

It won't enter in Recovery mode,
When i hold down home, power, and volume UP the bootup-logo (Samsung galaxy S II ''With Explenation mark) shows up, than dissapears for 1 second than shows itself again and it's just freezes like it did before.
Now I never heard about a Boot Loop but this looks very disturbing.
I need some help with this.
Jeezus Christ, you joined today and already posted in the wrong section, didn't bother to read or search. So on that note I HOPE your device is Bricked just to serve you a purpose of reading before hand.
However since you are unable to read or search, we will treat you like a child. Your device is not bricked. Turn it off, take out battery, unplug from computer. Put back in battery and press volume DOWN, power and home until you get into download mode. Then plug into computer, start odin and either reflash the kernel in PDA box, or flash a stock rom.
Now this is been covered numerous times, so I will ask again to read next time before you post a question that has been answered 10000x times over.
Also if you would have read anything at all, you would know that you will get the yellow triangle when flashing any kernel but a stock on. There is a way to get rid of it, but that requires searching and reading. Something you know nothing about.

At first I would like for you to tone it down a little bit, I searched down the whole Internet, I just didn't now under what name I had to search.
Since I don't know the name of this particular issue, I couldn't find it on this website nor on the Internet (wich is obvious). So I started a treath to release my question.
Before claiming and occusing me of something, aks me the questions first.
You're judging a book by it's cover and your arrogance blind you.
But i'm not here to occuse people of something or giving them names etc, I'm here for some serious bussines.
Now...
I saw your answer (possible solution) and I wan't to thank you for this, I will give this a try and keep this treath updated.

I had the same problem few days ago.
For me the logo showed up, disappered, showed up again and than it went in recovery. Hold those 3 buttons until phone goes in recovery mod, don't stop holding them.

Yes wishing loss, due to lack of reading. If you notice my reply I did offer help. Just had to ensure he posts in the correct section next time. And as for your phrase you said. Never heard it.
It's called constructive criticism. Bet me he will search before making another post. Otherwise I will be lurking in the darkness.
Oh and don't like my reply? Don't really care.

You are wrong... step 2 says: Hold down home, power, and volume UP. This will enter recovery mode. If you are using CF-Root, you'll get CWM recovery. If not, you get stock recovery. It doesn't matter which appears.
As I said, you should enter recovery

No it won't go in Recovery mode unfortunately.
I think my phone is bricked as I noticed the ''Phone...!...Computer'' logo when I tried to start it up.
Can happen, now It's just the challenge to find the solution.
Perhaps I should go to the store and tell them if they can help recover it.
If you got any suggestion what I should do it would be wel used.
In the mean time I will earch on the Internet and the forums how to unbrick the phone by myself.
Note - I still can enter Download Mode.

Did you have a custom rom installed before you ended like this?
Did you even try DOWNLOAD MODE? You dont not need recovery. You need download to flash the kernel again or a stock rom.
VOLUME DOWN, HOME, POWER until you see the "downloading, do not turn off"
Then connect to odin and reflash the kernel in PDA

No,
It all happened after I installed a costum-kernel (The one that I need in order to root my phone) I followed the instuructions of a Youtube webpage.
I did root my phone before to try it out and it worked smoothly.
After I realised that I could so much once a SuperUser i wan't it to Root my phone again but it all went wrong when my phone was rebooting after I installed the costum-kernel.
I went into Download mode, I tried to install the latest firmware on my phone, yet it failed to do so, so i plugged out my phone, shut it off, turned it on and all of a sudden I saw the *Phone...!...Computer* logo wich (if i am correct) stands for a (Soft)brick.
I re-installed the costum-kernel and the Brick-Logo isn't visible anymore, but I'm back at the previous problem, The Samsung Boot Logo with Explenation Mark freeze issue.
Once I entered Download mode I noticed that Costum Binary Download is set to (Count 5).
I need a good tutorial how to fix this, I'm quite new with the Android (half a week)
Help is well appreciated.
Prob has been long fixed. Just flashed stock and re-rooted.
look bro
its really not that hard... download something called remount, system rw ro, root explorer, or terminal em: if you know how to use the mount -o rw noatime mtdblock2 [email protected]/system yaffs2 remount, I suggest remount from the market, its quiet simple to mount any file system read write with the apk. then install xrecovery installer again, and/or just cp the files needed. you're in quite good shape.. my x10 is really dead.. I could flash any rom with the flashtool or the .bat nt command prompt and it would flash fine but it wouldn't boot into the bl... eventually it wouldn't accept anything.. error right off the flashing loader.. the Windows NT .bat script probably would of worked if I had 2 weeks to spare.. after 24 hours it finally flashed the loaded and I said **** it and disconnected the usb and broke it half with my hands..
it did expose the rsa key in which completely blew my mind.. I have it still I sent it to my email but that's top secret im holding semc up for a new phone and if not im blasting that damn key all over xda.. I bricked the moto flipside in less than 2 weeks and now they have a fix but I can't charge the ****ing battery to fix the little piece of ****.. its actually quiet fast.. stock 2.2.no root. but anyways man if I were you id stick to one rom..its been months and theres nothing new on here I see the same roms but with gingerbread which isn't anything special and you probably should make a backup of some sort or just get a tablet.. I can't wait til mine arrives one f'ing day. anyways, good luck..
I about cried rofl when my x10 wouldn't turn on the LCD (fb0) for a god damn thing... I believe it was because I was feeling a little courageous and flashed a kernel in dev with atts 2.1 firmware w/ the 2.0.52 baseband......

Help, custom rom factory reset
PLease forgive me if there is a better post than this to reply to, Iam currently running out the door to work.
So i was happily using my custom rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913610) when my asshole friend decided to factory reset it.
Now i get the se login screen for about 30 mins, afterwhich it will load to normal se sleep screen (blue bg with norm slider) i can still see custom battery meter an such but i cannot do anything, except for slide to unlock and then i see black bg with custom bar on top (batt meter sd card an such) it detects the sd card, but because of the super long load time i dont know if holding back works to get it into the recovery mode (needed for xrecovery).
Is there anything i can do to recover my phone ?
[EDIT]
So when I came back from work I started on the phone right away.
When I try to use Sony Ericsson Pc Companion to update the phone I get stuck at the "Please mount sd card" screen on my laptop
When I used Flash tool 2.9.1 with X10a_1.0_2_1_A_0_435.tft I am able to get the Ftool to find my device however I get a message saying that the flash has been aborted after It displays the date
After a bit of looking I have found Flashtool 3.0.0 as well as X10a_2.1update1_r2.1.A.0.435_Generic.tft
Iam going to try these files to see if there is a difference.
[Edit Edit]
Good thing no one replied to my hasty cries for help (seriously thx)
Cause those files worked, its fixed.
This time when i connected the batt and held back the phone was detected and the files finished flashing after 4 mins an the phone started up in spanish.
Now that the phone is stock again, Any advice as to what custom i should try next ?
-mike

you are really not giving a lot of details here...all you are saying you tried installing a rom and then it froze halfway..
Are you rooted firstly?
If you are have you flashed CF-root kernel?
How did you try to install the rom?
More info and then more people can help you out buddy..see if you can get into recovery and restart your phone.
well... if you've tried "every" (its not like there are a lot) button combination... then just go buy a jig from ebay and force it into download mode...

Nothing from what you said would help..
He obviously flashed it with Odin, and he said he's getting a yellow triangle with a computer behind it..
From what I understood, he could get into download mode.
So just boot into download mode and flash stock ROM. That should do it.

dont think its coincidence they are increasing after the american variants have been released. People need to check what model they have before flashing things.

its ok and same goes by my post as well buddy..we all been in his position one way or the other
1st - Your phone is not bricked if it show an image. Whatever image it is. The only real software way to brick your phone is to flash bad bootloader or stop a bootloader while they are being flashed. However, Bootloader are flashed first. So if your phone stoped half way, you should not have trouble too much.
Remove the battery from your phone for like a minute, then reboot your phone in download mode (vol- + home + power and when the phone light up, release power.) Then flash another rom from odin.
Also, what rom did you used ? If you flashed a rom for another phone, then you might have flashed bootloader for that phone on yours, which is bad. In this case you will surely need a JIG.
sorry im new to this whole rooting/flashing thing. i downloaded the lightning rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
i have never rooted or doneanthing to my s2 before. all i did was follow the instructions on the page and thought it would be all good? it froze about a quarter of the way there in odin so i just took my phone out.
I usually find from this state I can get back to bootloader or download states
push and hold vol+ and home then power for bootloader
push and hold vol- and home then power for download
sometimes the phone can seem to freeze a little or even die (this happened to me loads on the galaxy s and once already on the s2) and removing battery sim etc or attaching the charger can jog it
however as other have said a JIG is your friend if for no other reason that even if you recover without it, custom roms up the rom count which some twitchy carriers might invalidate your warranty for, the jig will reset this
you can get them from ebay for less than £3 delivered, or there are instructions on this site for making them yourself if you are so inclined.
simply search 'galaxy s2 jig' on ebay mine was delivered today from portugal as I am way too lazy to make one and only wanted a counter reset anyway
Hi, please please please help... I guess im an idiot. And i "sort of knew" what i was doing....
I moved system tuner into the user apps out of sys and immediately got errors almost back to back as everything on my phone crashed, i tried desperately to navigate back and undo the process before the phone died but i failed and now im really scared its bricked.
I cant reboot its stuck on logo (no animation)
I cant safe boot (stuck on logo and says "starting rsd protocol.
Please is there any thing i can do, any way to reverse this, i was just gunna go into safemode and move it back. Do i need to flash over a recover? Can i even? Im so scared its bricked
I also have super user installed and i set it to auto allow but after the move this was changed? Default set to no when system tuner app asked to switch and that messed it all up?
Please please please help, sorry if this is bad section im not sure why my acnt is "new" its yrs old and ive even helped some noob programmers on here in the past, yes noobs can help noobs
So even if u have ideas let me know... Im scared

Edit: yes im rooted, no custom roms. kay ima just sit here the next seventeen hrs waiting while i surf the web, thanks so much to anyone who even reads this! Ive done so much worse learning to "program" for android. I mean i cant believe i didnt brick it in the past, these things seem unbrickable (hope).

Edit3: going to try to put this in a more appropriate section. Sorry i didnt mean to put it here :/ grrrrrr sry
You could boot in recovery and perform what's called a factory reset. That will factory reset your device. It should work as long as you got a recovery of some sort. Not sure if it will affect your root status but since your stock and rooted, you could just reroot.

Omg!!! Fuuuuuuuudnuts! Anything at all not related to recovery
Also any help on that factory reset? I have two copys of backup of cellphone. One on pc one on phone. I have titanium-backup on phone (i had it frozen using system tuner)
But... I have absalutly no idea whatsoever what to do... How do i even get this atrix into recovery? Ill go check but if u no offhand pls tell me. Also if anyone knows the exact problem i am need to know, because something this simple shouldnt require a recovery!!!!! Plus im not even sure that will work (( so if anyone knows wtf happened please tell me
Funny hpw the brain works... I was gunna make backup before doing this... But the extra 10 mins was too long ((((( anyone know a way that involves only flashing? From what i know two types of flashing exist and one lets you edit by bit which means maybe i can just move over a file? Im not sure what im talking about or which technology is used/or mainly used in the android. Anyway i will do a recovery if i have too but im gunna wait few hrs.
I think ii found a way using cwm.. But i dont have that idk why ........Its amazing.... New phone :/
Can somebody please help i tried factory recovery still no success ((
Im guessing its bricked... Which is pretty sad because the technology should let me fix this i want to know exactly what happened... I moved one app out of /sys that i put there ((((
I can enter android recover mode and nvflash and some others that i dont understand.
In android recovery i tried factory reset data and clear cache. Both of which should solve my problem.......
Im baffled it didnt work, should i buy a sd card and load my backup from pc onto it and select it in android recovery as backup? I always thought adb mode was merely flashing reprogramming read only parts of memory... I hence thought i could just use nvflash... I read alot and i still dont know if i can.... I know technology allows it... But.... I found this ?
