I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to disable the Recent Apps button... I never use it and I'm always bumping it when I'm playing certain games and stuff... thanks in advance for your help.
Without root that would be a negative.

I'm running jellybean (Cyanogenmod) and was wondering if there is some way to disable the home and other buttons when the input panel is out? I find myself always hitting them accidentally when typing and it is really frustrating. I have poked around in the settings and did it see anything; nor did I see any apps that do this. The only response on the forum to this question was basically 'practice typing' which is not much of an answer.
Hello,
So as you might already know, Google is trying to kill the hard menu button by integrating a soft menu button inside all apps.
Is there a way to disable this? I'm running the latest cyanogen (i9300) and I can't find a way to disable it.
It just takes space and I don't even use it.
Thanks,

Google isn't trying they've succeeded. Phones as of late no longer have hardware but instead on screen ones. But to your question though i think you can only do it if a rom has support to do so.

I want to disable predictive text(the one above my soft keyboard presenting me recent strings I have used) feature. But when I go to settings I cannot control whether to disable it!!
I cannot understand why amazon is forcing it. It is useless in my home language. The prediction is poor..
I googled for a while and all I've found is I cannot disable it in ordinary manner.
But my device is rooted so maybe... Is there any possibility that I can disable this annoying feature?
Please help if you know how!!
Thanks in advance
I am looking solution for this problem also. If anyone knows, please let us know!

Hi, go under settings -> buttons -> Home button, set longpress to no action
maybe this helps
Hey bud!,
I tried that, its still starting google voice thingy when i hold my button on my cord
Disable the "App Google", you will get rid of Google Crap Now, the omnipresent search bar, the long press-listen and all.
Notably, you will also loose voice recognition that goes as input method (when the keyboard is present) that's the only thing I find useful.
I tried shutting off the google app in "Currently Executed" apps, but it keeps coming back
Removing from recent app's makes nothing...
Go into Settings -> Apps -> "all" tab -> search for App Google and click "disable"
you can flash othere roms the othere rom can remove the google search
[Q] How to hide/disable the "Clear all recent apps" button from Recent apps section?
Hello,
I'm sorry if this got answered somewhere, but I could not find a solution anywhere and I searched for a couple of days. All I could find was ways to hide What's New and the Small Apps row from Recent Apps, but not the "clear all" button.
So... is it possible to hide this thing w/o rooting at all? It's kind of hard to believe there used to be a package for it (taskkiller), but now there isn't. Why would they do that?
I hope someone has the answer, I really do. Some folks on reddit will be very happy to know about this too.
Anyways, thank you for your time.
No, most probably there's no way to hide that button without root, as it's a system component. You would need to edit SystemUI.apk .
Also, i've not yet encountered any Xposed module that has this feature (why do you want it?).
What app are you talking about? any link to "taskkiller"?
It used to be possible to disable this button by hiding the com.sonymobile.taskkiler package, but now it isn't.
Pretty sad, it seems there is no way to remove it without rooting and going deep in 6.0.1.
