Hello Everyone,
I am searching for a good phone locator software which would be helpful when you have lost the phone but with the following security in it :
1) Disable or password protect factory reset on device.
2) Disable or password protect download mode on device so tat any1 else cannot flash the rom.
the above two things can easily remove the phone locator app on any device
The closest I can think of is Avast Anti-Theft that can be installed to system as separate from the main Avast app and hidden to prevent uninstallation and factory reset.
Unfortunately it requires a rooted system.
One of the options is to disable entry to settings and disable USB debugging, I am not too sure if it interferes with Download mode (?)

Hi All,
I am looking for a good anti-theft application.
Requirements are:
1. Wipe Data Remotely
2. Lock Device Remotely
3. Persist after Wipe
The first 2 are easy, most do this.
The only one I have found that does point 3 is cerberus (cerberusapp.com) you can install it with root access, or from CWM Recovery.
Does anyone else know of any others? I found cerberus to be a bit unreliable.
So,
Went for Cerberus after 2.0 was released. Fixed issues on my ICS Rom.
Point out works great, you can send a remote wipe and then put a code on it and enable GPS tracking. All data is safe and they can't use the phone
I don't know if it is your case (cause i cannot see what device do you have) but with samsung devices (like sgs2 for example) you can enable remote control inside settings/location & security then after registering on samsung site you can do all this stuff using www.samsungdive.com
It's easy and it works 100%
Phone locator pro for me, more reliable than Samsung dive, and just works, note, you have to reinstall it after flashing
Sent using TCP/IP
Using CM9 Alpha, so Samsung choices don't work
I need it to work after data wipe.
Ie Phone is stolen, so Wipe > Lock > Try and locate.
I added my S3 to corporate exchange activesync, then decided to not to use it.
Now every time when press power button, the phone show screen lock and ask for a password, and I cannot disable it under
settings -> security-> screen lock as everything is greyed out there but the password.
I have tried to
1. Delete the exchange account
2. Remove the device administrators
3. Clear credentials
I haven't tried factory reset yet, and I hope I can avoid that route because I don't want to reinstall and set up everything else.
Thanks!

This is a little command utility I found couple weeks back to by-pass outlook exchange security policy.
What you need:
* rooted phone
* JDK ready PC (or MAC / Linux, never tried it)
Steps:
1. enable usb debug on the phone
2. plug your rooted phone to PC
3. **for windows PC** copy .cmd file and "lib" folder to /windows/system32/ or /windows/syswow64/ for 64-bits
4. double click the .cmd file and it will do the trick and then auto restart when complete.
Note:
* Not required to manually remove existing Outlook account. It should be gone after running the script
* I suppose if you already have configured exchange email, your internal storage or/and sdcard should be encrypted. You will need to unencrypt both to remove password protection, that is a Android requirement.
* Unencryption could be done before or after the exchange policy hack
* You might still be prompt to accept security policy, but it will actually apply anything.

Credit goes to the DEV developed this!!!!! NOT ME!!!!!
Thanks a lot! Too bad, I already factory reset my phone... but it is good to know.
This is the main reason installed Touchdown (By Nitro) on my first android phone.
That way I can use my Work Email and the admins there can only lock the Email app and cannot touch the rest of my phone.
Might want to give it a try if you need your work email.(They have a 30 day trial I believe)

Touchdown worked pretty good. Thanks a lot!
I can't reset my phone because it asks for my alternative password, and I can't change my alternative password because I need it in the first place. What are my other options?
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured out how to get into recovery mode finally
GF did the same thing too as soon as she got it her new phone after 1 minute
Here is how to reset the alternative password without actually knowing your alternative password...
1) Go to Apps -> Settings -> Device Administrators -> Enable Android Device Manager
2) Log in to your gmail account on the Android Device Manager website: google.com/android/devicemanager
3) Click Lock and reset device password
4) Enter your new password
Hi,
I have recently went back to stock from CyanogenMod. I installed root and Xposed on it (for some other purposes). One of the things I liked about CyanogenMod was that you could not enable remote wipe and erase remotely (a security concern, in my opinion) ever since I've heard of those remote wipe hackers who wiped a bunch of iPhones, I've been paranoid. I'm encrypted with a relatively strong password.
I have already tried to disable remote wipe by disabling the Android device manager device admin (didn't work; you can press the "enable remote lock and erase" and it gets its admin back), I tried to disable remote lock and wipe from Android Device Manager through Google settings, with the same result.
It looks like the only way to truly disable this is to flip some switch I've not come across or uninstall/replace the framework for remote wipe/erase.
How do I disable remote wipe and erase (while leaving GPS and ring on) from Android device manager, without allowing it to turn back on?
Hello guy`s
i`m searching since days for a solution for my Android car system.
It has Android 8.1.0 installed, i can access the filesystem via adb root, the system itself is not rooted.
I have two issues with the device.
since a factory reset, when booting the system it does start into the "normal" slide to unlock screen, before the reset it booted directly into the Car GUI.
I searched also for disabling this, but only found how to reset or delete the passwords, and disable it on old Android 2.3 4.0 or 5, but not on Android 8.
it would now be easy said to just disable it at the system security settings under Display lock, but here is the second issue, the option seems to have been disabled by the manufacturor.
the same is with some other Option menu`s that are missing at settings.
i`m not that firm with android os itself, so i can`t finde the right command or modification to change this.
can someone help me how to disable slide to unlock, and how to reactivate deactivated system settings ?
sincerely Chri
