I'm on resurrection remix jb 3.0.5 and I'm wondering -
I read that jb is to have actions in the notifications bar, like instant reply to SMS and call back,
But I'm not seeing neither option in my build.
Is it a bad flash or just something not yet implemented?
I looked around and except for a similar thread with no answers from two months ago
I didn't find any answer, so sorry if my noobish ways offend

This has been implemented by default, for a long time in CM10 and CM10- based Roms. Maybe it's because you are running an aokp ROM.
You can try looking for settings under system - status bar - notification. And see if an option will be there

I checked and didn't see anything like that...

It's too bad cause it's one of the things I was really looking
Forward to when I read about jb . I can expand notifications
to see more detail, but not call back or reply
Oh well, I hope the aoko team implements it at some point,
Seeing as it's supposed to be a core thing in jb .

The probable reason for this is because aokp jellybean is based on CM10 just like AOKP ICS is based on CM9.
So bug fixes and implementation of some stuffs are a little late, always.

For a long time I was using the Litening ROM v2.2 which was fine apart from the occasional reboots. Anyway, I recently upgraded to the latest stable version which is v3.6 and have immediately noticed that all the video playback is glitchy. There's also no way to customise the settings toggle button in the notification bar.
Can anyone recommend a Samsung based ROM on ICS that is stable, has no problems with video codecs/playback and allows customisation of the toggle buttons?
TIA
Tweaky Rom, i never tried it but it looks pretty promising. It's Samsung based.
Oh and wrong section, these types of threads aren't allowed. You're supposed to try out roms for yourself. This thread will be closed soon. Cheers.

Yeh, wrong place to post but your new so I am sure they will forgive ya. The thing is, it is not neccesarily the rom you choose, it is how you install it and how comfortable you feel using it. Try RR, that is Ressurection Remix, I have tried nearly 23 different roms and still keep coming back to this. Remember, read, study, install, configure to your liking. Eventually through trial and error you will learn what makes a rom 'good' and what makes a rom 'bad', the enjoyment is in the tasting of different flavours. Enjoy.
This isn't development related and nobody can answer this question for you.
The only way is to flash and try the ROMs for yourself.

Notifications got changed, you can now do a gesture to show more info (more emails etc) - search on youtube.
Blocking mode added, new homescreen modes (easy mode for noobs)
Projectbutter forces the system to run at 60FPS everywhere, removing/reducing lag.
Google Now, better than S-Voice AND SIRI (check youtube).
More free RAM (check Task Manager)
I just installed JB with CM10 and besides some aesthetic modifications, specially in the notifications bar, nothing changed from CM9 with ICS. I guess with Stock ROMs it must be pretty much the same. And CM10 was a bit laggy sometimes so, seen the lack of differences, I went back to ICS:
All the hype on XDA has been from overexcited noobs .
JB is an incremental update nothing more .

JB is more than an incremental update, check the Google IO 2012 video on youtube for complete changes.
CM10 is laggy because of missing HWCOMPOSER sources from samsung, that means project butter and GPU acceleration don't work on CM10 and ROMs not based on samsung builds.
Thanks for the replies .... I'll go check out youtube .

In the s3 notifications have no JB gestures. Project butter is only partly here, not as good as on the nexus. Google now is here, but seems to drain a lot of battery. Other features that are supposed to be in JB: Android beam doesn't work with gallery (which is probably where you want to use it) the gallery is the same as ics and has none of the new gestures, it isn't connected with camera like on true JB. The For now only nexus users know what real jellybean is! I miss my nexus... Touchwiz is quite different from vanilla android and not in any useful or particularly better way!

You're right, I forgot about the 2 finger part! Well, at least we got that, another thing that's missing that I didn't mention is the throw to delete gesture on the homescreen, but a third party launcher can easilly fix that.

so when i am on aokp or cm10, and i tick the "force GPU" setting, are you saying it doesn't work?

Good people of XDA-Forum,
this is my first post after following this forum for quite a while. I am using an international SGS3 and have been trying a lot of different ROM's during the last few months. A few days ago I went back to something quite similar to the stock ROM: Omega ROM V44, based on JB 4.2.1
The problem that I am not able to solve without help is the following:
After installing Omega V44 my phone had this new toggle bar with toggles for WiFi, GPS, Sound, Screen rotation and Bluetooth. As I dod not find out how to customise this, I have installed the well known APP Power Toggles. The problem noc is that the new toggle-bar is there, but the old one wasn't replaced by it and is still in the first row?
I have been Googling for the answer 6-8 hours yesterday and today, but it looks like I'm the only guy on the planet who has this problem. It may or not have something to do with the Omega Settings. I saw screenshots of an Omega Settings menu in the Omega V44 Thread in the developer forum, but on my ROM I can't find the Omega settings.
I hope that someone can shed some light onto this sad story.
Best,
Jacob Kane
This is a pre release leaked software build and so is not fully complete. One of the things missing is the notifications control.
Also, a lot of mods don't work on this new leak properly as they're still being tweaked and there will be slow progress until Samsung release the source code for the kernel etc.
My advice would be to use v43 if you want to mod lots of things.

Im a Omega ROM users also and infact imusing V44.1 and it is running smooth.
if you are following the thread on Omega rom youll find the answer. Unfortunately V44 is still beta and MOD are not fully supported yet even custom kernel is not yet supported.
i have customazation done check this out;

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656&highlight=german&page=5147
here you can also check this page and so happy with OMEGA coz it is widely supported by our great devs and very thankful with that
hope you find it helpful. goodluck
I would say that this is especially dificult without source code as:
1) The way toggles have been implemented by Google in 4.2 OSP is quite different from the way Samsung was doing it
2) Samsung's implementation of the new 4.2 behaviour is, again, different from both samsung's old implementation and Google's new one
So there's no way to adapt existing methods, one would have to decompile packages from the last leak and try to see how it works
Anyway, any updates on this will probably end up on wanam's 15-toggles thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876384
Is there a specific reason as to why every ROM I'm on, if I use PIE, or Halo I get ridiculous lag? My notification stutters a great amount, and it seems as if the phone struggles to even change menus in the settings. I can't seem to find any resolution to this problem. I love the Galaxy Note a great amount, but this is making me want to switch to another phone. I've tried almost everything possible, even to the point where I wiped all of my precious data.

I've noticed lag when dealing with Halo, do not use it an only used it to test. Have used PIE before but no lag as you mentioning. If you are running both that could be the reason. Personally I do not use either so disable those and you should notice a difference. If not, re-wipe and re-flash and start over.

I have tried wiping, etc. I don't run both at the same time, no interest in Halo, Pie? yes. I'm just baffled as to why I can't solve this issue.

what ROM are you running is a good question. if you have a ripple effect on lockscreen, disabling that can help. if not as suggested disabling you Halo and even Pie is a possible start. I would then go to application manager and force stop if process is still running and then clear cache.
see how it runs then. if no lag, you can always restart Pie to try again. if lag comes back, there is your problem. if you have the Halo option, then I have a pretty good idea what kind of ROM you are running. I would think that it is a 4.2 ROM. if that is the case, you most likely have some Kernal options to try.
if it is one of JAIMED81's ROM's, he has a Q&A thread and you could get recommendations there as to which Kernal will work with which ROM.
good luck

Try this set up and see if it works, it's what I am running right now and so far is flawless.
Download; Carbon Rom, they are nightlies so grab the most recent one
Download; Uber Kernel
Download: Trickster Mod
Flash the rom and kernel and the gapps. Once up and running
Download: Trickster mod and sslauncher or any other launcher that you like if you feel the need to do so.
Trickster settings and info as follows:
Scroll to specific and turn off MP Decision hit the check mark at the top right hand corner
Scroll to General: Setting I have are -
TCP: cubic
Read Ahead: 3072
scheduler: sio
Frequency Lock: On
Min- 384000
Max - 1620000
Governor: smartassv2
Be sure to hit the check mark after each change and hit the menu button when done with all and set on boot, click enable and notification, can also click delay if you would like a delay.
Should help speed you up some.

I have not tried this one as it mentions issues with the camera straight off. Currently using uXYLON with halo. (Must have paranoid halo app installed from play store to make use of it!) I have read that each phone is different but I have not experienced the lag you described.

your right, my bad........this is a BRADL79 ROM
never the less, a cm based ROM ( I know, AOKP also), therefore going to suffer some of the same effects.
an alternate Kernal is still going to be the possible fix or alieviation to your side effects.

what I think I will do, is no longer quote what base a ROM is. maybe its just my terminology that is wrong. all the more reason right?
what I keep seeing in OP's is "all merges from CM10"(for example) now that I am paying a bit more attention, that is for kernel?
go easy on me, I am still trying to learn some of this stuff. I don't mean to give any offense in misquoting the base of a ROM. all respect to you and the others who sacrifice for us. I just try and help whenever I can so the big brains don't have to sweat the small stuff.
this may be the 2nd or maybe 3rd time you have caught me in my terminology blunder.
again, I will either double check or not quote.
sorry JAIMED81

Hi, I am running cm10.2 but can't find screen color adjustment settings? Coming from GNex i am quite used to my own settings so basically this is one of the main reasons for me to go the custom rom route on GS3.

Thanks for replying but its not there. Are you on 10.2 or 10.1?
I'm on 10.2, can't find color adjustment too
This is where mine is and my rom version.
However, I use Trickster MOD for my color adjustments, so I don't even bother with the color calibration that comes with the rom
