I was running Scott's ICS 3.5 (Didn't like 4.5, was a little buggy for daily driver.) I wanted to try out the OTA, so I downloaded the RUU and after several hours of frustration got it installed and running. I realized that the only difference I could see as a non-power user was that the OTA didn't have power saving features and did have lots of bloat. So I re-unlocked, and tried to install the new MIUI that looks pretty, but I have been to chicken to do the wire trick, and MIUI requres S-OFF. So I downloaded Nils' Business 6.0, and got it up and running flawlessy but I didn't have root. After upgrading my Amon Ra to 3.14 AND 3.15, still no joy. Tried SuperSU first and then SuperUser. I have no clue what to try next. I have reflashed Nils' several times thinking maybe it was a bad flash. I just don't know.
Sorry for the rambling post, but I've been spending hours just to try to get root, which you all know should just be a few buttons.
Try going into SuperSU and allow it to update binaries when it asks..

You, sir, have won for the day....
Edited the pic because I didn't see that offensive crap at the bottom lol
Boot into recovery, wipe everything three times (at least) cache, dalvik. Ruu again, reinstall recovery, reflash root. Try a battery pull after and reboot. Then try custom rom.
Yeah When I said I tried SuperSU and SuperUser, I meant that they tried to update and failed because they did not have root access. I do not have time left tonight to wipe and RUU and all, but I will post my results when I can get that done.
Thanks for the fast replies!

No matter which FroYo Release I try, "Fix-permissions" doesnt seem to work properly. Regardless of what i try, it only fixes permissions for the CWM app itself. So its shows two lines of text for CWM, and its done. Any one know why this is happening?
Ps- I've tried completely un installing CWM and deleting its folders and everything associated with it but to no avail. I'm out of ideas...

I take it that everyones ClockWork's "Fix-Permissions" works perfectly fine? Any input would be nice. THanks
You need to get into the actual clockwork recovery and fix perm there. So, open ROM manager, select reboot into recovery, select re-install packages, clockwork recovery should boot up, then goto advance options at the bottom of the list and select, then you should see the fix perm option about half way down the list, select it and your done.
I have the same problem. I'm thinking it's to do with CWM needing to be updated for the vibrant. Since there is no current 2.2 official/supported release it will not be updated as of yet. I haven't contacted koush(dev), but I'm sure he knows.
Even if you do go directly into CWR you can select it, but it doesn't seem to scroll the script...
I am using the stock Froyo eugene posted and I am not having any problems with ROM manager or CWR. I have done two backups with ROM man and wiped cache, dalvik cache, and fix permissions in CWR and it worked. I even got the fix permissions log on my SD card.
This must be it, because same thing happens if i try from the recovery. Is there anyone that can get fix-permissions to actually run the entire script? Would be nice to know if its a select few, everyone, or just us two

Im also experiencing this. Im running AOSPish froyo.
First, this is not an extensive guide.
Second, credit goes to -ViperBoy- for suggesting this to me on Twitter.
Here goes...
Disclaimer- This has only been tested with rooted .33 and I'm not responsible if you screw something up and/or iron jellyfish eat your junk. DO NOT RUN ICS OTA BEFORE ROOTING AGAIN AND RUNNING VOODOO ROOT KEEPER! This has not been tested with an unrooted ICS ROM being reverted back to .33 HC ROM.
Background- If you are getting the yellow triangle it is probably because you are rooted and have deleted a system app. Don't know why Asus counts bloat as system apps...but whatever.
Solution- go to Asus website and download the current version/region firmware. BE CAREFUL HERE (as of this writing the latest is .33 HC so you can still root it, but that may change). Unzip it and put the zip file into the root of the SD Card on you're TFP (the zip inside the zip... I'll elaborate more tomorrow to clarify. If you are confused here wait).
Then run it. This will un root you, but rest assured you can re root again before doing the jump to ICS. Now after restoring and rooting, Go to the market and get the voodoo root keeper app and run it. Then run the ICS ota and then restore root...profit.(I'll fix this all up tomorrow with links and such to make it pretty.)
Thanks again -ViperBoy- for taking one for the team!
Going to sleep now. Will come back to this tomorrow to clean up formatting and such. Tweet me if you have questions, it will alert my phone. @Techronico
I'm on unrooted ICS (went from rooted .33 -> ICS, forgot to use rootkeeper) and want to try this method to gain root. Will see...
How exactly do you "run it" again? I have the zip (from inside the zip) on the root of SD card and no idea what to do next.
Same here... If you're going to make a guide, please make it clear. This is ONE of the many ways that I've tried it, with no success!

Was Figured out last night during the update.
Ok so this may have been posted before but I've been searching and can't find anything.
So I got my note 2 when they released and I did the first "root" method available which I think was odin. Not really root with a custom recovery however I don't think. See the following screenshot to see what I'm currently running. Its been fine until now so I never re flashed anything or install twrp or anything.

Lately its been running slow so I want to fully root and install something along the lines of the latest Clean Rom. I had cleanrom on my Rezound and I love his roms.
Only reason I'm making this thread is because I'm not sure where to start because I don't think I'm stock yet I'm not "really" rooted.
Dont want to mess up my device.
Thanks!!

Sounds like you are rooted, but your bootloader is still locked. In order to flash ROMs on Verizon you will need to unlock the bootloader (unless you did that via Odin the first time around). From those screenshots you won't be able to tell if you have unlocked the bootloader...as far as I know the only want to check is to boot into recovery. If you see TWRP or CWM you are set...if you get the stock recovery you need to follow Adam Outler's original unlock method as you are on baseband VRALJB. To access recovery power off the device and then press volume up + power button + home button simultaneously. Whatever boots up will tell you what you need to know.
stary by reading the stickies.
Yea I believe I'm still on the stock recovery.
Well i think I have screwed up beyond repair.Yesterday I had sucessfully rooted my new s4 that came with VRUAMDK. just rooted no custom roms or anything. I then loaded Titanium backup and froze the verizon update app. Installed Goo Manager and made a nandroid backup with TWRP.
Today I froze the Weather widget app among others. Decided I wanted the weather widget back, so I defrosted it. It WOULD NOT come back. So I defrosted everything. Still no weather widget. Then I thought I would just unroot and go back to stock. Followed Dark Menace's Pm instructions and followed them to the letter. When I rebooted from using superSu to unroot. I noticed a notifcation that a software update was available, obviously it was since it was unfrozen. I did not click it. But a few seconds later my phone reboots into recovery mode with TWRP I thought that was very strange. Upon completion, and booting it said "Android is being updated" Well at that point I was sick! Sure enough now I'm at VRUAME7.
What can I do? probably nothing correct?
Oh and a few minutes after all this a popup said "software update failed to complete nothing was changed" or some-such. But I'm still at me7 and I have a unlocked padlock on bootup
Lesson learned don't screw with it if it aint broke!
Oh I STILL don't have my weather widget back.
I appreciate any assistance.
Thanks,
EDIT:
I'm not really broke about being on ME7 its just that I wish I could get rid of the padlock on boot and wipe all the backups (nandroid) just in case the phone dies. At this point it will just be a paperweight.
Would a wipe data/factory reset at least get me all the way onto me7? I seem to be stuck somewhere in between.
Here's where I'm at now

Fixed!
Flashe VRUAME7 stock restore --> booted up with padlock --> rebooted in recovery mode --> wipe cache --> booted without padlock! Now at ME7 with no update errors --> did factory reset to get rid of all the twrp and TiBU files. So at least it is working fine now.
Thanks for all the info on the site!
Hello everyone.
I have problem with my OnePlus X. It's rooted and a week ago starts roll out new Oxygen 2.2. I get OTA update, but I can't install it. I understand, it's because of root, but I downloaded zip file and trying to install it via TWRP and it always say's FAIL. Even on FACTORY RESET. I read a lot of stuff but it's always the same. Flash custom recovery and install ROM via TWRP or CMW.
Can you help me?
Thanks
what are you flashing? the full ROM or the OTA? which TWRP are you using and what is the error message?
I was trying to flash OTA Oxygen 2.2 but it doens't work. So I tried full ROM (oxygen and Cyanogenmode) and it doesn't work too. I have TWRP v2.8.7.0 .

OTA can't work it's normal.
Full zip should but if not, you have to install Bluspark recovery.
twrp-2.8.7.0-onyx_f2fs_v12.img
Okey thanks a lot. I'll try it.

Just to be sure, You followed well the unlock bootloader / recovery install and root instructions? You didn't just do the oneclick root approach?
Not one click. Full root.
It' should work with the recovery I told you, as it worked with others....
I hope it will. Thanks a lot man.
Do one thing,
Flash blu spark recovery, Then choose the 2.1.3-X zip n in the next step "add zips" add 2.2 (latest one) patch which is about 40mb n flash both at once.. it will do it n u will b on Oos 2.2
YES! Got it. I downloaded full ROM 2.2 Oxygen and I did new recovery (blue spark) and it all works Thanks guys )
