http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/unlocking-boot-loader
I stumbled across that page, and I wanted to know if it's legit? it seems much easier than testpointing my Xperia Active.
Yes that will work, but voids your warranty. That's the official Bootloader unlock method by Sony. You will lose DRM and you cannot use ota Updates and trackid...

Besides, you can only use that method if you have Bootloader unlock allowed: yes, if no, only testpoint method will work

Hi, this is just probably a stupid question, but is there anyway of unlocking bootloader when it says that it is not allowed after typing in *#*#7378423#*#* and going to Service Info, configuration? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
By the way, I did google it.

This will not work as it is the official way to unlock the bootloader.
Currently the only way seems only via paid method because fastboot is not enabled.

But I did it by this version and it successfully done.

That is because you had Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes.
He has it No, which means his fastboot is not enabled.

You need to do it via specific paid method, because you also need to get fastboot enabled. Just getting unlock code from network operator will not help, as it doesn't enable the fastboot and Bootloader Unlock Allowed stays No.
Just a question.
Does the Testpoint method to unlock the bootloader works on a Mini (St15i) when I'm on ICS (stock)?
Or do I need to use official method?
Thanks

Rom is not important... Just try it.l When you get an error saying ": qcReceivePacket: can't get packet start" you can not use testpoint method due to new security by Sony.
So basically I should either use official method or downgrade to GB to be sure that it works?

If I use ROM Manager, Do I need to unlock Bootloader manually before instaling cyanogenMOD in my Sony Ericsson Live with walkman?
I saw on videos they just click download rom and install it. Nothing else!
Whats the truth?
You need to unlock bootloader yourself first.
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
You have to first unlock your bootloader and then flash a Rom. Or you can obtain root, install CWM and then flash a Rom for locked bootloader without unlocking your bootloader.

I bought an Xperia Sola online recently, since the day i relieved it, i am trying to update it. I tried all methods possible and also the ones suggested by the Xperia care. When I checked online, it says my device should be running software version 6.1.1.B.*, i.e. ICS but by all methods tried, it says my device is up to date. Currently running gingerbread software version 6.0.B.3.814.
Please help. I do not want to root my device or run any custom ROM. I want to update to ICS Xperia.

Warranty maybe void only if you unlock bootloader or root.
So flashing ftf will not,I guess.

Upgraded my sola to ICS manually... Works like wonder
Are there any devs who are working on an unlocking method for those who cannot use the official unlocking procedure?
Its impossible. To unlock the bootloader, you need the key from SONY. Every key is DIFFERENT.
