Charging port cant root. UL okay CWM okay - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my atrix doesnt charge via wall or pc. it doesnt even get recognized by the pc. i have an external battery charger to keep the juice up. I sucessfully unlocked and flashed rom racers recovery but CANNOT get root. during the ADB shell phase of root i get the error no device connected etc. im guessing the charging port is broken, does anyone have a quick fix? thanks.
problem is the root apps wont work and im wary of flashing a custom rom without root permissions. thanks

it was my girlfriends phone it was stock all the way until last night. it was out of warranty and had the wifi error. moto wanted 110 to fix but we didnt want to spend that much $ because she already had a new phone. shes always had a case on it. we bought it new about a year or so ago.
it just doesnt charge it connect. even with many different chargers.

Have your tried flashing any custom ROMS on it? If I recall, I could be totally wrong, when I put my custom recovery on the phone, it had to be rooted.
Download root checker from the market. That should tell you if you are definitely rooted or not.
If you are you can put your micro sd card in the computer with an adapter, put the custom ROM on that way, put the sd card back in the phone and flash the ROM like that. Post back when you tried root checker.

ive tried root checker it says no. it connects via fastboot. i used fastboot to unlock and i fastbooted a recovery. but for the rooting process, it requires the phone to connect via usb and since the charge port/usb doesnt work idk what to do.

Sending Verizon a Hacked Phone

what are the consequences of sending verizon my rooted eris for a refurb and should i put it back to stock before i do ?
are there going to be extra charges ?
just downgrade it to the stock 2.1 (or even 1.5) rom and you'll be fine.
The consequences are that they will take it back no questions asked then give you a ****ty 2.1 phone back with 1.49 locked boot loader then you will have to sit and watch this board on your phone with the faint hope that someone figures out how to root it one day in a way that does not involve you poping your SD card in and out about 700 times in the faint hope that it works once!

you can install a non-rooted room over top and lose root. if you decide to not hand it over, the bootloader doesnt change, so you can re-root it again if need be.

You might have to mess with your drivers to get your phone and pc to see each other. Try deleting your drivers, unplug phone, plug it back in and try to reinstall the drivers from sdk.

I need help with the rooting process please

I want to root my Motorola Photon. I have been reading many posts on different rooting methods and I'm confused on all these methods. Of course, the dockless method sounds like the best since I don't have the dock. Can someone who is more experienced in rooting please tell me what is the best or easiest way to root the phone? Does anyone have a good step by step thread or website I can use? Any help would be great!
Shabby has a thread in the dev section which is one click. I am happy to help. What exactly are you confused about?

Thank you for your reply! I got my Photon the other day. I need to know what to do to root it. What do I have to download or do to root it? Yeah, I'm new at rooting. I tried the Z4 Root app but it don't work on Gingerbread.

This thread here offers the 'once-click-root' for our device. What operating system are you on? I'll assume windows. If so download the zip file as well as the appropriate drivers and then just run the bat file.
I downloaded the drivers and the zipped Photon OCR file. I installed the drivers. Do I put the zipped file on the SD card or do I run one of the files with the phone plugged in to my computer?

um i think he was making a comment towards calling someone on here to help him with it.
i honestly dont understand the issue with so many people not being able to root... yall have a root that is far easier then the nexus s 4g (i should know i wrote the one click for that phone too)
Here is shabbypenguins one click root that worked very easy.
anyways without further waiting here it is
Download
Drivers in case you need em
32-Bit 64-Bit
driver mirrors
Download and install the drivers. Download and extract the one click root to your desk top.
Run the one click root from the folder you extracted to your desk top. After 3 reboots you should be rooted.
Make sure when you plug your phone into your computer you select charging only in the notification pull down.
If it don't root your phone the first time try it again, some people reported having to do it twice.

This may be a stupid question, but does it completely wipe your phone when you root it?
I'm close. I did it 4 times and no go. I attached a screenshot on the info. Could it be the phone resetting itself twice during the process?

Try turning the phone off then on.make sure you have the drivers installed. Try reinstalling them if you do them try again. Make sure USB debugging us checked on your phone under menu/settings/applications/development. And when you plug in your phone to your computer in the notification pull down make sure to check charge only.

stuck on 2.11.0000 hboot while unable to charge, use ADB or fastboot

Stuck on HBOOT 2.11.0000, I have scoured the net trying to find a solution. I was doing the S-off tutorial when my cat knocked my phone off my table as I turned around to get some cheezits really quick. the phone unplugged from the usb and now I cant get my phone to charge, enter fastboot as well as unable to use any adb commands. I desperately need to relock my phone but I cant....
I got the phone working however and flashed 1.6 clean rom just to have something. but I am crippled without the use adb or fast boot. I need a new RUU but I am in between a rock and a hard place on this one, a speedy reply would be greatly appreciated.
Are you in a locked or s-off state? Does the phone charge while in a running state?
s-on, phone doesnt charge at all. everything else works though
ADB While in a recovery?
No charge, no fastboot, usb not recognized
Did 1 Rezound S-0ff real easy, but on a second phone, had exactly same
result as OP.
Except I have no WiFi and no radio, but a pretty screen running rooted
GB.
Since we can't access thru usb, cures aren't going to be easy.
Am experimenting and taking advice from smarter folks to get out of this
spot. Hope you find a cure and post it.
I cannot access ADB in recovery, nor will it boot into fastboot in recovery. its as if the usb port is turned off, i am thinking that if I can flash to a new ruu this will go away. is there anyway to do that at all with a unlocked phone?
so is there nothing I can do about this? what about a golden sd card or trying to push someting through ADB via wireless? I am at a complete loss here

Just to clarify, the commands to "fix" SD mounting was purely due to the new ICS firmware that expects the SD blocks at different points. All the commands that were listed do is format the SD card. That should have nothing to do with your USB though. Also if even while off or on, it still doesn't charge, really sounds like it's just the USB port itself. Maybe it fell and pushed the cord in in a bad way? If that's the case, even a RUU can't help. Your best bet to VZW not noticing (IMO) would be to flash a rooted stock gb rom and then removing the super user app so there's as little chance of them seeing you altered anything.
No USB fastboot connect and No Charge
Have exactly same situation as you. Flashed a MISC.IMG with a Terminal
program from the Market per Con247's suggestion. Phone boots up,
recognizes WiFi, but no charge, no usb, no fastboot. Won't give up yet.

Let's clarify. You tried to install cwm, it failed and now your phone says unauthorized software take to Verizon? Your post honestly doesn't make sense. Oh and now Odin won't see your phone?
If this is correct then your phone is far from screwed up. Very common it's what happens when you don't unlock the bootloader. So let's get your phone seen by Odin. Are you in download mode? What os is your computer? Have you trired different usb ports? Are drivers installed?

You can't be on aroma. Aroma is a method used by ROM devs to allow the user to select options during install of their ROM. There are two recoveries, CWM and TWRP.
So you are seeing unauthorized software? Then your bootloader is locked, if it was unlocked then we'll figure that out later.
You should see gadget serial. Is it installing the drivers for that? How did you install drivers, Windows update our manually?

Okay, thanks for clarifying. That is a little strange then. I mean did you let Windows download the drivers for you, which you answered. You're most likely not bricked if it will turn on at ALL! Here's what you need to do:
1. Make sure your computer is setup with the proper drivers/ODIN.
2. Go here and download the stock ODIN image
3. Get a different USB cord you know works or try the most rearest USB port and put your phone in ODIN mode as stated above.
4. If ODIN doesn't recognize your phone, restart the computer with it plugged in and unplug it and replug it...
5. Flash ODIn in the PDA, not the Phone section (Follow the directions given by Imnuts).
That should fix you up, if it doesn't, chances are you missed a step. Good luck:victory:

If you went thru VZW and they are shipping you a new phone then it isnt new. They send out refurbished phones as replacements, I think they referr to them as CLN phones.

[Q] Droid dna bricked +usb not recognized + bootloader RELOCKED

i've bricked my droid dna by accidentally deleting the OS.i swear i've tried everything RUU, PUSHING files through ADB, factory reseting literally EVERYTHING sadly i didnt create a backup because i was new to recoveries such as TWRP (which is the recovery i deleted everything on) idk what i else did to it but for some reason my computer wont recognize my phone via USB fastboot anymore. the only two things i can boot to are the CWMR and HBOOT. MY phone is S-OFF. i have all the drivers installed. My phone works perfectly fine but the usb being unrecognized by my computer. PLEASE SOMEONE i just need a SOLUTION to FIX the UNRECOGNIZED USB problem and i would be set. i know what to do if i can fix xmy usb and hopefully usb problem now that i have more knowledge on this. keep in mind that my bootloader is RELOCKED and S is -OFF ive been searching ALL over EVERY forum i cold find and no other idiot like me BRICKED it like i have. someone please help me fix my USB?
BTW my phone knows it has a USB plugged into it when i go to fastboot SORRY FOR THE BOOK I WROTE OVER HERE I'M JUST REALLY NERVOUS BECAUSE I BROKE MY PHONE
If you can't get the USB to recognize then go to meenova and buy the mini USB SD card reader if you can get a backup off stock rom online and do it this way sorry if I'm no help I'll ask my friend that did the same exact think how he got his fixed and get back with you if above method doesn't work

I'm almost bricked, I'm S-on - Tampered - Relocked and I have the latest hboot, radio and recovery as far as I know. There seems to be NO Operating System though so I get a constant boot loop. I can get into fastboot with no problem but after doing a factory reset, still get boot loop - going into factory recovery from fastboot also yield's nothing special - I read that HTC put out an RUU (which I have tried) and it, for some reason, was not working and that that was it.....no more support. I'd like to get this phone restored - Sorry for the rant.

I have the same problem with you,it need full RUU from 4.09 firmware (because our bootloader won't accept lower hboot version).
Is anyone here know how to fix it,or anyone know when will HTC give us the 4.09 RUU? :crying::crying:

Same thing happened to me, as long as you can get into recovery try this. If this doesn't work let me know. I spend four days working on my phone to unbrick it, with HTC there is always a way.
