Flash back to Stock on the newest OTA? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

How would I go on doing this? Use SuperWipe or the RUU?
I need to remove the ROM and get back to Stock without Root so Sprint doesn't go "oh wtf is dis you root omg"
I'm asking this because I'm going to get a replacement EVO 4G LTE tomorrow for reasons.

Just relock, run ruu, check for updates done. I don't know if an RUU is out already for the newest build if it is then it won't find any updates just one less step. It should get rid of the tampered message but it will say relocked instead of locked. Not sure if this will be an issue or not you should post let us know if they say anything or not.

If your s-off then you just need to run the ruu.
If you are s-on then you need to relock the bootloader via fastboot
The fastboot command is: fastboot OEM relock
Then run the ruu for whatever baseband you are on currently.
Reboot and done.

Check your unlock_code.bin file, its reporting 0kb and that's a null file.
I would also recheck if the phone is being properly id'ed by the OS and there are no further communications issues.
Code, in theory gives correctly...
The conexion is correct (apparently)...
The file Unlock_code.bin is 2 kb.

In the stickies in the dev section football's post has links for the cdma ruu exe's
Make sure you know if your cdma or gsm?
Anyways download the one for hboot 1.49 . Don't snag the latest 2.17 or you will be hboot 1.5 .
When you have the program downloaded your AntiVirus may say something about it cause it is a exe don't worry file is safe.
Hook your phone up to your computer run the program while in hboot..

They're Gsm phone. There are stickies in the GSM Development Section for this, but here's where to go:

[Tutorial] [UNLOCK/ROOT] EVO 3D GSM Hboot 1.49.0011> + S-On [HTC Unlock method] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248231
Unlock via HTC's site. If u get stuck at step13, you may have to reflash the original GSM Ruu (zip or exe) and try again.
[Tutorial - How to revert back to Original ROM for backup or warranty purposes] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262457
(You can likely skip the "goldcard" setup if you can get the correct RUU for your phone/carrier from Football's GSM Ruu thread)
Once unlocked u use fastboot command prompt to flash (& enter) the correct Cwm Recovery (ShooterU ). Make a backup from recovery. Then flash the Su zip like it says in the op. Then your rooted.
Make a new rooted backup from recovery if you like.

To make a CWM Backup, see guide/flashing notes in my signature, go to post 4 (cwm recovery notes) and u can get an idea of how to make w backup. Keep in mind the file links in the thread are for Sprint Cdma phones, so don't use the links. The step-by-step is correct.
The kernel is usually included with the ROM u just need to enter recovery by fastboot command prompt and make sure the ROM & kernel are compatible with your phone/baseband.

You need to unlock your bootloader, follow the instructions on big daddy's thread and the flash a recovery, you are re-locked... Then install a rom with a soon kernel installer or fastboot the boot.img

PM bigdaddy619 regarding your issue with the unlock token. As far as S-off goes, once your bootloader is unlocked you will need to use Dirty Racun.
Also, HTC never released an RUU for the latest OTA, so you can't RUU. There is an RUU tool in the development section for the latest OTA but you must be S-off to use it.

[Q] Stuck in superCID 222222 and ENG Hboot

Hi
I'm a noob and messed up my DNA here is the thing:
Followed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2109862 to get bootloader unlocked after that installed this this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359803&highlight=google+play this rom it's awsome but it keeps rebooting on my phone by the way the phone before unlocking bootloader and installing TWRP was like out of box and with no update because I can't get the updates from VZW outside the US anyway I changed my mind and tried to go back stock so with that in mind after installing TWRP and before installing the new ROM made a nandroiod backup (saved it to my computer) and when I tried to restore my original ROM I have this issues:
-Phone storage (like for music photos etc....) appears like "storage/emulated/legacy" and won't let me write any file or make a new folder from my computer and in gallery says "insert SD"
-Wifi show turning on and then error
Everything else seems to work fine
------Update: managed to solve this issues flashing the kernel (boot.img) from my backup again but I'm leaving this in case someone else is in a similar situation and want to know how to solve the problem-----
and when googing to bootloader says:
*** TAMPERED ***

Of course is an ENG Hboot
What can I do to get back to full stock???
l also tried this without success
Step 1) adb reboot bootloader
Step 2) fastboot oem rebootRUU
Step 3) CD to directory containing hboot zip (i.e. cd C:\sdk\)
Step 4) fastboot flash zip PL83IMG.zip
*** When it says it is done in the terminal/cmdprompt execute the following ***
[The green bar only fills up about 75% of the way]
Step 5) fastboot reboot-bootloader
from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919 [How-To] From S-OFF to 100% Stock S-ON [Facepalm/JTAG/RevOne/Moonshine]
by the way I tried to flash the RUU and didn't worked it said error 170 (don't know because I tried in Windows 8 64bit, the cable or what happened) and thinking this twice I don't know if relocking and running the RUU will brick or do something else to my device (because the CID 22222222 or whatever)
So what would you recommend to me for getting back to stock ( recovery and Hboot stock)
sorry for my english I'm not a native speaker
Thanks for your help

from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919 [How-To] From S-OFF to 100% Stock S-ON [Facepalm/JTAG/RevOne/Moonshine]
by the way I tried to flash the RUU and didn't worked it said error 170 (don't know because I tried in Windows 8 64bit, the cable or what happened) and thinking this twice I don't know if relocking and running the RUU will brick or do something else to my device (because the CID 22222222 or something else)
So what would you recommend to me for getting back to stock or have a 100% functional Droid DNA again
sorry for my english I'm not a native speaker
Thanks for your help

Try running the RUU in the bootloader if you are getting that 170 error.

thanks for your reply i'll try it.....
so it's safe to run the ruu in CID 2222222 and Hboot ENG S-on?
You might be able to write the cid and s-off, then do whatever you need

This times 15 million! Why did you not just do moonshine? Have you tried doing moonshine? If you RUU with the ENG hboot you will likely brick.

I personally wouldn't recommend using toolkits. "ADB" is much easier, I've even put instructions in the blue link in my sig how to flash those specific files. Also to run the RUU you will need to flash version 1.15 hboot

I guess I should have read OP a little better cause it seems you already tried that... very strange... let me think a little bit and see if I can figure out what to do...
Edit* Go into bootloader and type all of the current info that you see for me please. Is it still the same as what you have in the OP?

When you get this error, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to run the same command again and it'll work.

I think you need to S-OFF at this point, if you have SuperCID (22222222) all you need to do is finish these steps, since the bootloader is already unlocked just go ahead and follow these steps in this tutorial (oh and by the way it says MONARUDO PVT SHIP S-ON which means stock bootloader so you are ok there you do not have an ENG which is a good thing the SHIP means it's a standard bootloader)
Just for saftey make sure you have SuperCID 22222222 by running this command in the bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem readcid

4) Immediately issue the following command:

Getting an error 99 instead of error 92 after step 3?
Perform a few FULL power-downs and boots. Also, others have reported clearing caches in recovery helps as well.

Is there any risk to brick my phone trying to return to sock or something?

You will only ever have an ENG Hboot if you find, download and flash one.
To answer your question, no you dint have one and yes you're fine for whatever you want to do

[Q] No OS or recovery, s-on and locked bootloader

As the title specifics, I currently have no OS or recovery on my Droid DNA. I'm S-On and Locked. all i have access to is fastboot, no recovery. I'm trying to get back to stock so that i can bring it in to vzw. any idea how i can unlock and install my recover?
thanks
EDIT: some more details on my problem - i initially had it unlocked/s-off via moonshine. currently, its version 2.06 (doesn't boot), hboot version 1.33.0001. the only thing that correctly installs is dna2.06firmware.zip.
RUU doesn't complete (error 158). installing PL83IMG.zip and PL8320000-DNA.zip doesn't work either. not sure where to go now.

[Q] Lot's of errors attempting to restore to stock!

Hello all, I've been trying to restore my droid dna back to stock for a warranty return. I have relocked my bootloader using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38379254&postcount=19 method and restored with the stock 1.15 RUU. Now this is where the problems start. I had achieved "Relocked" with no tampered or security warnings in my bootloader. However, I wanted to see if I could achieve "Locked" to cover all tracks of tampering with the software. I tried the moonshine method of s-offing and it continuously failed. I would get to moonshining (10) before my phone would completely freeze with screen on and CMD showing "Waiting for device" never moving on to another step. OFC to moonshine I had to update to the 2.06 which I think has now caused all the problems. I cannot downgrade using the original 1.15 RUU because I get Error 158 (image error) after it tried to update signature. I have tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38379254&postcount=19 by flashing the hboot which gives the error:
C:\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash zip PL83IMG.zip
sending 'zip' (434 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.201s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 0.255s
lastly I tried HTC dev, the original method of rooting I used. Trying from the start as well as just simply trying to use the original unlock code file.
C:\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.126s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
FAILED (remote: unlock token check failed)
finished. total time: 0.134s
No luck and I'm running out of time because if I don't mail my phone tomorrow I will be charge for the replacement. Im begging for help. :[

Thanks for the reply!
I checked out the website and read all the prereqs,
"Your device must be HTCDEV unlocked or rooted unless using rumrunner with a device blocked by htcdev (e.g. m7wlv)"
My phone is no longer rooted, and the issue is I cannot figure out how to unlock it. My phone was never s-off if that matters. It was rooted through htcdev before anyone found out how to s-off.

"Unless using a device blocked by htcdev". Our device is blocked. You are good to go. Keep on reading the instructions after that, and follow them exactly.
Edit: after s-off is achieved, follow the guide "how to return to stock s-on" thread.

Alright, I'm giving it a try. Everything is working smoothly so far. Now, after I have rebooted and s-off unlocked boot loader, I can restore to factory stock everything and boot loader will show "locked" instead of relocated and tampered etc?
EDIT: It worked, when I used the relock method and that worked fine, but now I have tampered above locked. The tampered remove method didn't work
.
RUU and keep everything stock. Should remove tampered tag

RR worked beautifully, everything worked after following a few methods on the RUU, Hboot, recovery, and what not. Droid DNA is stock, S-ON Locked and ready for warranty return.
So much trouble for a non functioning audio jack...
Thank you for your help Uzephi!
EDIT: Thread good to be marked as resolved and locked if need be!
