You don't need ROM manager. Stay away from it.
- Reboot to CWM recovery
- wipe cach data /factory reset
- wipe dalvik cache
- format /system (under mount and storage)
- flash CM9
- flash gapps
- reboot phone

there are two ways:
1. Backup ROM via CWM recovery
- boot to CWM recovery
- Backup and restore
- Backup ROM to internal or external SD
2. Backup ROM via CWM manager (easier method)
CWM manager app is already bundled with Siyah kernel
- Open your app drawer
- run CWM manager, Grant it superuser permission
- Backup ROM, select your desired storage
-input the backup name of your choice.
The phone will reboot, and the backup will be done

K den finally from where do I Download CM9.
Official page or xda forums?
WTF !
I entered Recovery mode(volume up+power+home).
There is no option like Backup nor advaned settings.I tried navigating using volume keys.

I think you are misunderstanding some things.. You must first root your phone with cf-root AND THEN, you must flash the Rom with the specified kernel. But you can take a shortcut by flashing siyah kernel. You don't need to rely on baseband version.

3> wipe and clear the cache
4> install g apps..
5> install siyah kernel via recovery (the zip.)

No. Did you read the first post on the CM10.1 Thread?
You have to be running an ics stock rom and then root it.
Afterwards you can then proceed to flash CM10.1.

Hey ma8 first use the siyah kernel v4.1.5 or v5.0.1(tar file for ODIN) form PC ODIN to root ur phone, to get a wrk'ng latest CWM recovery on ur phone
then follow the install instruction given in the CM10.1 thread to install the same, the CM10.1 rom comes with its own kernel that will replace siyah after install

so you mean to say that flashing the siyah kernal will directly give me root? Or will i have to use super one click app after flashing the kernel to gain root? One more thing have you tried the method you gave?
Yes it will, no need for any super one click. Once uve flashed siyah, reboot in recovery (which will now be cwm recovery), make a nandroid before you flash anything. Would be a good idea to back up your apps using titanium backup, your sms msgs with an app like sms backup and restore etc. Then proceed to flash the rom, gapps, make wipes etc.

Hi guys, i just got a S2 from a relative of mine and i'm quite new to the flashing and stuff for S2. P.S (My previous device was much more easier).
And so i decided to try out RR (Resurrection Remix). I was on 4.1.2 stock, so i tried to root via, both, Siyah and Dorimanx. After rooting them, boot up, i then proceed on to flash RR and GAPPS. But it didn't work. So, how do i exactly go about flashing RR?
Did i do something wrong? Can someone help me a bit?

Yes m8. Make sure you read the install instructions on the OP of the rom. Cyanogenmod you flash the rom then wipe data where with neatrom you wipe data first. If you have to wipe data after flash dont select the option to wipe all data to install a new rom. Philz kernal is only for samsung stock/based roms so dont put on RR. When you flash RR it will put their kernal on during flash.

Alternatively. if you have root access, then you can download the ROM Manager app from play store. When you install the ROM Manager, it asks you if you want to flash CWM or no. If you say yes, then it automatically downloads the latest CWM and installs it on your phone.

Absolutely do not use Rom Manager. You will end up with broken recovery & bootloop, and given how few people on here seem to backup stuff regularly, you will lose data when this happens & you need to go back to stock to fix it.

Try installing a slim/micro/mini gapps package. The gapps package you are trying to flash requires more space as there are more apps associated to it. The packages I mentioned has only the essential gapps for your system. You can search for them on xda.
