Should I root? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I have been waiting for 6 months for O2 UK to approve the Ice Cream Sandwich Update for the Xperia Neo, then I read an article on Techradar saying: "O2 blocks Ice Cream Sandwich for Xperia Arc, Ray and Neo
All stuck with Android 2.3 Gingerbread"
So should I stay on Gingerbread or root? I also own a Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean so I guess I can live without Ice Cream Sandwich on my phone. Is Ice Cream Sandwich as buggy as people say? Please tell me what you think I should do, what steps are required for rooting?
Thanks

No need for root if you just want to flash ICS fw.
It's done with flashtool.
If you wanna, you can store your region number (CDF number) so you can always use PCC or SEUS to go back to your original fw.
Read this thread to know how to get your CDF number: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604559
Should you stay on GB or go for ICS, well, if you gonna go for ICS, then you will need to root it after flash, and remove bloatware apps.. because stock ICS is heavy for our phones.

Hi I just connected to my computer and kies reported an updated firmware was available .
Its definitely updated the appearance, phone / email etc works fine, but the camera is exactly as it was.
I havent had my text notification from Orange to update, it just popped up when i connected the phone to the computer.
Is it likely there will be a further update coming to make the camera like it should be on ICS, or will that happen when i follow whatever Orange say when their update to ICS comes through.
Thanks
No if you have the last update from Orange .
What do you mean ny ICS camera .

Hi Thanks for your reply ICS Ice Cream Sandwich which i think the 4.0.3 upgrade is. I read the camera features on this upgrade were very much more enhanced than previously available, yet the camera on my S2 is exactly as it was.

Hi i got a xperia min pro sk 17i brought newly i update my phone using pc companion for ICS and faced many issues after i dont have any service center in sri lanka so i flashed my phone to gingerbread again and after the camera quality was low anyway again i updated to ICS and now still having bugs i got to know that when we flash the SI number back in the phone and the SI number in the firmware doesnt match?? anyway now how can i have a good firmware please help me?? i want a good stable working gingerbread firmware please help me how can i get a firmware that matches my SI number??
Hello,
So in order to have a good firmware, you need to read to you the Android development thread exactly at the moment there are no relatively liquid current ICS version.
At the ICS versions, there are always bugs and lags because they avoid yet been processed nich specifically to lag because the phone memory for x10 mini and mini pro is too small for the Ice Cream Sandwitch 4.0 +
Give it a whirl with the CM7.2.2 firmware for your phone this is stable and without bugs.
MFG
I recommend Cyanogen 7.2. I was using this rom and I say that this is best rom for gingerbread users. It is fast and stable.

[Q] Rooting a Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro MK16i

I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro MK16i originally purchased second-hand in Canada with a carrier-less ROM, currently activated with Telcel, running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4.
I am trying to root my phone, but all I can find online is either for the MK16a, or for the Gingerbread version. For what it seems, the only way to root my phone is by downgrading to Gingerbread, rooting, then upgrading back to Ice Cream Sandwich, and the only way to do it is with a ROM flashing utility with which I risk bricking the phone. I've considered installing CyanogenMod, but I tried to do it on another phone with a similar installation process (an Xperia Mini) and I never managed to unlock the bootloader.
Is there an easier, or at least safer and less invasive way, to root this phone than doing the downgrade reflash, root and upgrade reflash thing?

[Q] Not Able to upgrade from Gingerbread to Jelly Bean Galaxy S2 9100G

I was using Ice cream sandwich in my mobile. I tried Rooting my Galaxy S2 9100 G but it failed and was not booting anymore. I tried everything including taking it to Download mode and all, but in vain. So I went to a local mobile repair shop. They said they flashed this mobile or something and Now it is back to Gingerbread. When I try to update it to latest firmware, It is showing there is no update. Also, when I connect to Kies, it shows a message that Firmware version is not supported. I'm not able to update to Ice cream sandwich or Jelly Bean. I also thought os trying cyanogen mode, but it says minimum requirement is to have stock 4.1 version. Please help me....
