It was the galaxysii_oc_v1 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075061

Why don't you try Siyah Kernel?
Yes, it enables overclocking, but it's full of other features too!

Insecure kernel vs secure kernel

Hello
I have a insecure kernel installed.
do I need to install a secured kernel?
is there any issues with staying with a insecure kernel?
if I update with a new kernel does the kernel need to be with the firmware I have ie 2.3.5
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Insecure kernel just means adb has root permissions, and its not really a problem in the long run as long as it's upto date.
It's best to match the kernel to the rom you are using, so a ki3 2.3.5 kernel with a ki3 rom etc.

I have rooted my phone using the insecure kernel of chainfire and I also obtained the stock kernel provided by him. But, when I load the stock kernel using Odin my phone is just restored and I lose the root. What's wrong there? Any idea?!

root goes through the kernel so putting a non-rooted kernel back on takes away root
you need to search for a stock rooted kernel to go back to stock kernel and still have root

I rooted and kepted an inscure kernel on my phone and had no problems and if you are going to flash a custom rom then it will come with an inscure kernel anyway.

Did you ever find the secure kernel for the GT-i9100? I just rooted my device but I can't find a secure original kernel anywhere. I would like to have root on my phone with a secure kernel. Why is this so far to find? Do most people just operate their phones with the insecure kernel? Isn't that unsafe?

[Q] S2 Reboot while setting CPU Frequency in SetCPU

Hi all, I recently purchased SetCPU and tried a couple of profile settings and tuning my CPU Frequency. However whenever I tuned those frequencies, my phone will freeze and reboot.
Example of such case are 200min - 1200max I tune it to 200min - 800max and it freeze and reboot.
I rooted my phone and using stock rom and stock kernel. Already given SuperUser to SetCPU....
I hope any kind souls here will bring some light to my problem here. Thanks!

I read about it but prior to that, I flashed a custom Kernel just to gain root access. However after that, my phone was in the blank screen state after that. Even tried the clear cache setting. It didn't work, hence I was forced to flash back the stock Kernel and yet finding myself still retaining the root access...

CF-Root is basically a stock kernel with root capabilities.
The kernels Sun90 recommended support OC/UC. so just flash any of them.
Good luck

Don't mind trying. Was initially intended to flash CM9 but I gotten lazy of flashing and customized my phone... If flashing those kernels that Sun90 recommended my phone won't went blank screen after that. I might try.
Updated: I took my courage to flash Siyah Kernel and now it works! Playing around with the settings to get better battery performances! Thanks!

[Q] [HELP] Did something STUPID

Hey guys, I have a S2 (4.0.3) which was rooted. So I'd got a update today which said it was a small change so i thought it would be 4.0.3 still with root access.. Well after i updated my android went to 4.0.4 and my rooted as went gone!
So my question is how can I root my phone again or delete SuperSU
My kernel version: 3.0.15-1056084 [email protected] #3

I coudn't find my kernel to re-root it I used the root app from: lyriquidperfection
Stop asking silly questions that have already been asked over and over again. If you want an answer use the search button, plenty of topics on how to root.

If you don't want to root anymore then don't ROOT at all.
If you want to root, simply flash a custom kernel via Odin. I recommend Speedmod or Siyah kernel

1. If you flash a custom kernel, you will still have root but you will be 100 % safe from the brick bug. You can still get updates
2. If you are only rooted, it will not brick your device. So there is no need to unroot
3. The most important thing is:
DON'T USE CWM RECOVERY , unless you've flashed a custom kernel

Unroot

Im getting bored on being on stock after trying my old SGS on Jellybean now.. It feels faster than my GSII that has 2 CORES! 1,2 ghz. Incredible what developers can do it's simply amazing.
One thing im getting really tired off and irritated is the sound when your battery is low
DY DY real loud im like SHUTUP before i throw you in the wall.
And can't even use the camera when low battery without 3rd party app.
Can i unroot the phone? So it gets exactly like before if i regret or phone breaks and warranty **** or something ( TEST OFFICIAL 4.1) I
And i heard if you upgraded to 4.0.4 and root it was dangerous and you couldn't get life on the phone just because you wiped data etc. even a USB Jig couldnt help. And a triangle were somewhere hmm.
Is it hard to unroot?
Is it worth rooting if im going to unroot to test official 4.1?
Sorry for swearing but i had a ******* bad day.. =)

Yes, but because you are on Samsung's 4.0.4 firmware, I'll advise you to flash either Speedmod kernel or Siyah kernel via Odin.
Download the .tar Odin version of one of the kernels and flash via Odin
Speedmod kernel: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574218
Or
Siyah kernel: www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/09/08/siyahkernel-s2-v4-1/

Dont let him worry you, the firmware itself is fine. The issue was a bug in kernel that was causing bricks after wiping data via recovery.
You simply flash a custom kernel like Siyah after flashing rom to get rid of problem.

Actually, there is no reason for you not to remove it, since there is an application that can do that for you.
