Hi! I have been very satisfied with the phone but now I ran into a situation where advice is needed.
Suddenly all the normal notification icons stopped appearing in the upper left corner is status bar.
Instead of the usual I have the following icon stuck in the same place. See the picture.
Any advice?
Turn your notifications back on.........
.....this is only the 322nd thread with the same question.
Thank you for getting to this and answering kindly before someone started getting flamed! I am confused on how people can never find the answers they need by searching, or they are too lazy to search. You would seriously learn a whole lot more just by reading than opening a thread just to have the answer given to you...
As I've said before, Samsung needs to replace this option in the notification bar. The U.S. versions don't include it...
They fixed it in Jelly Bean. It's now called blocking mode, has the same icon as the notification toggle and also comes with a permanent notification.

OP, please use the search function. It helps reduce a lot of the same threads. Thank you. :good:

Hi everyone, hopefully someone can help me...
I just updated my rom, and it has a port of quicksettings on from another developer... This in turn has made the pulldown notification area a tiny bit borked (through my eyes). The pulldown notification starts at the bottom, and has to be pulled down to the bottom to show the first notification...
So if I have an email/text etc, then I need to pull down notification bar just to see who it is from.. It wasn't like this before this update, and fear that because it was ported from another developer, might not get fixed...
Are there any developers that hang out here, that could point me into the right direction?
I haven't asked the rom developer yet, as I know he is very busy with the rom, but would be my next step if no one here can help me!
Many thanks, Matt
P.S. A picture speaks a thousand words, please see attached image that shows me pulling down the notification bar, but it not showing the notification until it is all the way down
EDIT: Developer fixed this
I know it's still there in this phone. What I want to know is when you open up the menu that shows you all the toggles, does it have a Wi-Fi toggle you can throw in the quick toggles bar?

Are you talking about in the notification bar? If so nope. The lovely Verizon peeps decided to give us the constant notification and remove the Wi-Fi toggle. How nice of them!
Yes I was talking about the toggles in the notification bar. I got the S3 now. It's very annoying. Was thinking of upgrading to an S4 but I might leave Verizon to save some money. Constant Wi-Fi notification instead of a quick toggle, locked boot loaders, I'm considering it!

There is a MOD to get rid of the constant notification, and I am sure someone is working on a toggle now. I hope, I haven't gotten the phone either yet. Still waiting, but still stalking these forums.

I thought you had it. I was asking about the full toggles menu if they put a Wi-Fi toggle in there so we'd have an alternative vs. the stupid on going notification. Easy fix is to run a custom Rom. But it's still annoying to know Verizon is sticking to this. That's not my only gripe with them. Money is the main factor. T-Mobile has LTE in my state already and no contract seems very tempting! haha. Unlimited + LTE, that's sick! Instead of this cap data stuff.

I'm currently have trouble adjusting to this new ROM. I think its one of the best I have tried but I have a problem, the notification bar goes through notifications way to fast (as in showing new text, or email headline) and it really gives me a headache and annoys me.
Is there anyway to change the speed of the notification bar back to stock?
Thanks

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "notification speed".
If you mean the amount of notifications, the only way to decrease them is by disabling notifications in each individual app. It has nothing to do with Hyperdrive.

Sorry I should of explained better, In the stock Touchwiz if you notice when you get a text it shows what the message says at the notification bar without pulling it down, then it shows the icon in the top. The speed of which it shows the message is much faster than stock. Hope you understand..

AH, I see what you mean now. I'm running Hyperdrive as well, but I honestly never noticed it. I doubt there is a way to change it, but I would post in the Hyperdrive thread. There are many knowledgeable S4 users in that thread.
Also, it's possible Sbreen94 wasn't aware of the notification speed and he can fix it in future versions.
ok

Yea I did not think I could do much about it.. Thanks for the help.. sadly I cant post over there until I post 10 posts lol
Howdy, folks!
I've been using Android for a long time, and one particular behaviour bugs me. I've spent about a week googling around, sifting through the forums, looking for hacks or an Xposed module, and I can't track down anything.
When a new notification fires, the top bar momentarily shifts to show a preview of that notification. It might be as simple as a title-less notification that some app has turned itself on, or it might be a preview of a new message from some application. Regardless of what the contents of the notification are, the whole top bar momentarily stops displaying all of its icons, the clock, and anything else in order to show some of the text from the notification.
I'd like to stop this behaviour. Let me clarify; I don't care about modifying the contents of the notifications, I don't care about what shows up on my lockscreen, and I don't want to block notifications from showing up at all. I just want them to simply appear in my notification center and for the top bar to simply *poof* have another icon in it for the new notification.
I haven't been able to find any leads on this anywhere. I don't know if it's worth my time developing a little app to try to block this behaviour, or if someone has done it already. If anyone has suggestions, I'd be thrilled to hear them.
I'm using a rooted Galaxy S5 G900V on Verizon, running AllianceRom's KitKat release, though apart from the root access I don't think any of that should matter.
Thanks!
Hi folks,
I am posting this in the Android Apps and Games thread, so hopefully that's okay.
I know there are many videos and threads online regarding notifications but I haven't found a solution for my query.
I want the option to stop the Facebook banner chat head but keep a status bar icon, so that I can see I've a message. Because if I turn off the pop up banner, I also lose the status bar icon.
Secondly, if that cannot be done could I block the name appearing? Right now I have the message blocked, but their name appears still.
