I'm currently have trouble adjusting to this new ROM. I think its one of the best I have tried but I have a problem, the notification bar goes through notifications way to fast (as in showing new text, or email headline) and it really gives me a headache and annoys me.
Is there anyway to change the speed of the notification bar back to stock?
Thanks

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "notification speed".
If you mean the amount of notifications, the only way to decrease them is by disabling notifications in each individual app. It has nothing to do with Hyperdrive.

Sorry I should of explained better, In the stock Touchwiz if you notice when you get a text it shows what the message says at the notification bar without pulling it down, then it shows the icon in the top. The speed of which it shows the message is much faster than stock. Hope you understand..

AH, I see what you mean now. I'm running Hyperdrive as well, but I honestly never noticed it. I doubt there is a way to change it, but I would post in the Hyperdrive thread. There are many knowledgeable S4 users in that thread.
Also, it's possible Sbreen94 wasn't aware of the notification speed and he can fix it in future versions.
ok

I just had an idea. Instead of texting by switching applications, what if you could just pull down the notification window, type a message and read it. If it worked with Google Voice, that would be very cool too!
I have no idea how to code this, but I am a designer and could create some pretty GUI for it.
You could try something like SMSPopup or the popup+quick compose shortcut that handcent has
Do you mean compose an entirely new message in the notification bar or reply to one you received?

I like his idea, I wouldn't mind seeing something official or official looking that popped up when long pressing an SMS notification that let you select reply, that kept you in your current app but popped up for replying like QuickDesk or SMS Popup does.

Maybe, but if you could send texts from the notification bar, next thing is someone else would want to send emails, someone else would want to make voice calls, someone else order pizzas and the next thing you know the purpose of the notification bar is lost in a jumble of features ... what's so difficult about pressing the sms icon to send a text?
Kind of pointless seeing how as you're one click and several milliseconds away from the full fledged SMS app. Remember, this isn't an iPhone, stuff works here - fast.
The notification bar is just that, a notification bar.

True. But I don't see why notifications can't have long-press options. The problem is, this would sorta have to be on a per-app basis. Meaning nobody would make an app that included a menu for the notification unless it was an official feature from Google, a part of Android 2.5, for example.

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to create something like what the OP wants, but I really like your response and you make a good point.
My two cense [yeah im UK so cant spell that word xD]
1) Popup SMS, I installed it very early on in my N1 career, never uninstalled it, its perfect for me.
2) While we dont NEED this, it would be interesting to see if its possible to type in the notification bar, as there may be other uses.
this gives me an idea too
i always hate going back to home or clicking music playing notification to change music.
If there was a little previous, play/pause and next icon it would be awesome. As the status bar is nearly always visible we never have to exit the current app we're in.
Hopefully someone can do this
but yeah sms would be cool too
A stinky note / drawing pad would be cool too. Just a way to quickly write a note, be it a phone number or grocery list, and view it anywhere without minimizing the current application.
Even though there are dedicated apps for all of this, the ease of use and speed of the notification bar are noticeable. The Framework is always running in the foreground.
I really like the blocking mode built into the os, but is there any way to remove the notification from the status bar when blocking mode is enabled?
Sendt fra Tapatalk
I have same query
I was wondering the same thing , its great but also a bit annoying being in the notification bar
Not that i know of, but it should stay there, you need to know it's on since it disables key functions.
I noticed that, while blocking mode was enabled, whatsapp sounds still go off in the middle of the night.

True, but we don't need to know it's enabled when it's not doing anything. If you set the between time it should disappear when it's not affecting anything.
Looking for a way to get Tasker of NFC Task list to enable and disable it.
Yeah... this notification is pretty annoying...
I hate it too... And just like everything else it shows how samsung can't make 100% good software.... Everything is always "almost good"... There is always something that spoils everything... That's why I can't stay with sammy rom for too long...

when you try to change the sound of notifications in whatsapp, and you select "Default ringtone" it doesn't use the notification ringtone, it uses your call ringtone, it's really annoying, but I think that's why, it's whatapp's fault
really hate this "feature" to notify me about blocking mode not being enabled...
annoying
yeah I agree this thing is completely annoying, it should be in the status bar when on, not when off! Image having a notification all the time that says your alarm is scheduled to go off in 8 hours.

that's the beauty of technology.. nothing is "perfect" otherwise, if everything is perfect on sammy then we wouldn't be in XDA now, would we?
I managed to hack away this notification!
The process is relatively lengthy, and does require a rooted, deodexed ROM... But it works!
The notification will be COMPLETELY removed - it will not show up even when blocking mode IS actually active (i.e. during the active hours).
Anyway, in case you're interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32872016#post32872016

isn't it easier to access the resources folder, look for the block mode icon and delete it?

I'm not sure if that'd work. It might remove the icon from the notification bar (the thin one on top), but likely not the ongoing notification when you drag it down fullscreen.
I'll try tomorrow and post it, but I think I remember seeing all that icons (the quick settings icons too) in system framework...
JFYI, I've put a couple of CWM zips together, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943987
By the way, couldnt find the icons on framework.apk
if you pull down your notification bar and press and hold blocking mode notification you will see app info, click on that and you should see a box about notifications and if you uncheck that the icon and notification will go away.

You can't uncheck this one, it's checked and greyed out (in other words permanent).
I know it's still there in this phone. What I want to know is when you open up the menu that shows you all the toggles, does it have a Wi-Fi toggle you can throw in the quick toggles bar?

Are you talking about in the notification bar? If so nope. The lovely Verizon peeps decided to give us the constant notification and remove the Wi-Fi toggle. How nice of them!
Yes I was talking about the toggles in the notification bar. I got the S3 now. It's very annoying. Was thinking of upgrading to an S4 but I might leave Verizon to save some money. Constant Wi-Fi notification instead of a quick toggle, locked boot loaders, I'm considering it!

There is a MOD to get rid of the constant notification, and I am sure someone is working on a toggle now. I hope, I haven't gotten the phone either yet. Still waiting, but still stalking these forums.

I thought you had it. I was asking about the full toggles menu if they put a Wi-Fi toggle in there so we'd have an alternative vs. the stupid on going notification. Easy fix is to run a custom Rom. But it's still annoying to know Verizon is sticking to this. That's not my only gripe with them. Money is the main factor. T-Mobile has LTE in my state already and no contract seems very tempting! haha. Unlimited + LTE, that's sick! Instead of this cap data stuff.

I would just like to know of there is a way to have the screen stay off when I get a notification , I've mainly seen this happen for text messages. I'm not a big fan of having the screen wake every time there's notification. I've Googled and checked through these forums and was unable to find anything about that.
Looking through the settings I don't see anything that sticks out to me that allows you to change that.
If anyone could help that would be great thanks

No not like that, I noticed that only the stock LG messenger app wakes the screen when you get a text, other messengers have settings to change that
Hello,
My notifications seem to be coming down with the status bar, causing them to appear half way down my screen.
It's very annoying as it blocks half a video I am watching.
Any solution? Thanks
As you can use the notifications are coming down and not covering the status bar

I don't see anything and I've looked through every notification setting . I'm not sure if it's something I've done myself when themeing the phone maybe ?
Is a reset the only solution?

i was digging thru the settings and didnt see it either. I do not believe that a reset would help either. Overlay permissions maybe?

Can't see anything that would effect the notifications. I've put the device in safe mode and received notifications and I'm still experiencing the issue.
Thanks for helping me, I've just turned off heads up notifications for the time being.
I used a theme with substratum to black out the notifications and shortly after it started to happen so I think it's probably related to that.
Uninstalled the theme since but not fixed it :|
