It's mainly with the wall charger. I have an adapter to use my car charger in the wall. I'm not sure why it slows the phone down. Texting especially a nightmare.
The original charger provided with the phone, or some cheap eBay/China one?
Not the original charger. It's a vz one though
Try the original one. Some aftermarket ones have poor filtering, and will cause problems. Most often noticed as a jumpy touchscreen, but other issues, too. If it works fine on the original, get Verizon to exchange theirs (test the replacement in the store) or return it.
I think it may be this adapter
You didn't accidentally set a low set CPU profile did you?

It doesn't matter if it's a VZW car charger, you are using some no-name cheaply made in China POS adapter. This is definitely the reason you are having problems when it is plugged in.
That's what I'm thinking. I may have to get a new adapter because I don't want this to affect my battery life in the long run

Get the actual HTC one, any of this cheap knockoff crap could be killing the battery.
Same thing here....original VZW charger that came with the phone.
is it just that the touch screen isn't responsive but the phone still runs fine? i have this issue with the original HTC charger so i'm using the one from my moto droid and it doesn't have any problems.
Same issue here. Phone slows down drastically when charging, especially when trying to type on the touch screen. Using original wall charger and cord that came in the box.
The whole system slows down. The keyboard doesn't respond, it takes forever to answer a call etc. I have to unplug it if I'm gonna constantly be using it. I thought it was the adapter, but after seeing everyone else's comments, I'm not too sure anymore

do apps run smoothly? something like angry birds is good to test with this. even if it's hard to play, you can see if the app itself runs normally or slow.
i also have problems with some keys (keyboard) while not charging, the key will stop working and after either typing another word or pressing the key plenty of times, it'll be normal again for a while.
taintphuck: you can try getting the charger replaced first, see if that fixes it.
Any ideas?
I was in TWRP at the main menu, instead of clicking power off, I pulled the battery to replace the sd card with another. Now it will not power up, when I plug it in..no red light?
Thanks in advance...Jim

See if you have any luck trying to boot without an sd card in there. Also, try holding down on the power button for at least ten seconds

This happened to me about a week ago. Charging it was what fixed it.
If charge it doesn't fix go to a sprint store and let them charged the battery the did the trick for.my EVO 4G once the happened, for.some reason the battery seems dead when is nor really dead
MGS on my iPad
Maybe check the battery connectors dood. I know some htc models have problems with those.
Coz i just saw it in 3D with the Shooter!
mines not powering up either.. Never turned it off, woke up this morning & it was off. Not powering up. been on charger all night
happens all the time to me. i know its a flaw, but ive learned to NEVER let my battery go all the way dead. If i see it get around 5-10% ill just put in on airplane mode til i can get to a charger. Also if you battery is very low, turning it off or pulling the battery will cause it to get an attidude and not turn back on for 15-20 min
Yeah, I have been having lots of "attitude" from my battery or power button or on/off code or whatever is making these things not want to power on reliably.... Not to mention the random charge-light-on-wont-turn-on antics. Has been happening more and more frequently and nothing i do works reliably so I just try them all until one works.
I can't have this. This morning I woke up to a locked phone, screen off, green light on, won't turn on.... And totally dead battery while plugged in? Good thing my nook is so reliable as an alarm clock or I might have been in deep **** at work.
It's not the rom or kernel... I've tested everything. I think it's deeper than that. I might not be able to wait for the nexus-prime.... Sgs2 might have to do.

I've seen a lot of these posts. I usually never let mine get in the amber even but I recently flashed viper rom so i wanted to do a battery calibration...meaning..reset stats from full charge..then use it till it dies. After reading these posts I realized mine hadnt died on me any yet. After 16 hours of heavy abuse (12 hours of normal music streaming, calls, text, web surfing etc...and 4 hours of just playing youtube video's with all radio's on trying to kill the damn thing) it finally croaked. Worked just fine though.
Maybe something to do with certain shipments. I've seen a lot of posts on htis but no one ever puts out a batch number or anything. Perhaps all the ones having issues came from a similar batch...and have some designation of affiliation with said batch. Just a though..if we could discover some trend in this...perhaps they'd consider acknowledging it and helping users with issues...or at least help new comers to the thread avoid particular troublesome ones.

i think it has something to do with the non HTC s-off method. But im right with you. As soon as Sprint releases the s2 this 3D is going straight to ebay. I love it, but the signal weakness and power problems are MAJOR things that I cant take much longer

It did this before I did s-off.... Admittedly not as much, but it also hadn't done it any more afterwards.... Until a week or so ago, and it just seems to be getting worse. Agreed. I stopped into my local radio Shack two days before release to play with their demo unit.... Turned on... Played with 3D... Turned off... Never came back on again, ever. Tried everything.

AWFUL signal strength. actually, worse Ive ever had on a phone.
my EVO never came back. I was at 60% batt life when I put on charge last night & was dead ass hell this morning.. no life at at.. Sprint tech took it apart it said the phone apears like new, just lifeless. swapped battery with 3 others, no good. So I figured it would be a long shot but I took it back to the store I got it from 36 days ago.. & Explained what happen.. Swapped me out with another one right then & there!..
BTW this is my 5th NEW Evo3D. thats sad...
If my tablet is shut down and I want to charge I can't do it. Whenever I plug in the charger it boots up why can't I just charge and keep off?

Do it like this n should work. Plug the charger into the prime while its on. Then you power down the device like that should stay off.

Really? What would possibly be the logic?
I can shut off & charge my phone, camera, laptops, GPS watch, BT speakers, BT earpiece, 2 way radios, etc & not have them power on if they are off when I plug them in.
So... whats the logic here on the only device I have ever seen or used that does this?
I say its a bug and if not a poor design.

"Answering" my question with a question is not an answer.
So again, if a product is off & you decide to charge it for whatever reason you decide - and that reason is irrelevant really - what is the "logic" behind having it power on? What purpose does that serve. Just because you want to charge it does not mean you want it on any more than turning it on means you want it to auto play music. Doing 1 does not logically imply you want the other so what is their logic in deciding for you it will power up?

Maybe the Prime cannot differentiate between being plugged in to a computer to be accessed or being plugged into a wall outlet for charging. So the compromise is that it always turns on.

As said before, it was also the case on the transformer TF101 and apparently on other devices as well... No idea what the logic behind it is (and I'm one of the guys turning his devices off when sleeping so it's a minor annoyance for me too, extremely minor though).
So I know there are several threads on this, some by me, but this time the issue is very weird.
So i'm on my third phone now, previous 2 had the USB port going wacky. Phone thinking it was charging when it wasn't plugged in, computer not recognizing phone anymore etc.
So problem has now started again on phone number three. Weird thing is this time the phone seems to not have this problem all day. Problem starts at night, so i'm assuming maybe a battery percentage left triggers it. The other weird aspect of this is that right before the phone starts bugging out, (charging, uncharging, and back, over and over while not plugged in), the car mode symbol appears in the status bar, and starts flashing on and off. If I am fast enough to catch it,I can deactivate car mode. When all this starts happening, phone also starts to get stuck and freezes up. This issue is really getting annoying. Love this phone but this is starting to make me crazy. Yes I got the phones at different stores. What do I uninstall to just get rid of car mode, considering I never use it?

Seems to be whatever USB cable you are using or the way you carry this phone is the problem. No way you get 3 phones the same exact problem in a row. FYI, Samsung Focus and Captivate had the similar problem in the past. Car mode is just the result of your USB port problem instead of the cause of it. What happens is something shorted out or bridged the pins of the USB port to make the phone think it is conneted to a car dock (IIRC, car dock uses a 300k resistor to bridge two pins). Some ppl with Focus or Captivate reported success by blowing out the dirt in the USB port.
As well as cleaning the USB port with an alcohol swab

The only USB cable I've used with all of them is the one they come with. I've used the alcohol cleaning method as well as blowing in the port, hopefully getting out any thing causing issue. This seems to help temporarily. The strangest part of all this to me is with this latest phone, I have zero problems all day. When I lay down in bed for the night and start using the phone is when it starts to happen. My battery life can range from 60%-30% at that time, so I don't know if that is a connection to this issue. Maybe the phone is possessed. It always seems to take about 2-3 weeks for this problem to arise. I always have the phone in my pocket, so I guess something must be happening with that. Luckily with this latest one, I bought the best buy insurance, it's just after awhile they're gonna start wondering why this keeps happening to me, and if it's my fault. The USB port problems can sometimes make it difficult/impossible to flash back to stock.

Useless responses are no better than useless threads imo.
To the OP. The likelihood of that many bad phones in a row with the exact same problem is pretty rare. Take a look at anything that's remained consistent through all the phones, and try replacing that item(s).

+1 for replacing the cord and power brick. Alot less quality is put into them compared to the phone. Just make sure not to buy cheap. And never plug your phone into anything cheap (i.e. car radio usb port, off brand charger, ect) That's not saying everything else is bad. But why risk it. Especially when you can buy brand name chargers off ebay for $5 or less.

You've used the same cord with all 3? or a new cord with each one?
It sounds like you've got a boatload of issues going on. Personally i'd do a wipe and try a fresh install without installing any additional stuff to be sure the hardware is fine.. Once you've verified that start adding apps to see if it was a specific one causing the issue. (there's other ways to troubleshoot this, but a fresh wipe is the most straight forward and simple IMO)

However he said before it was 1-2 percent an hour. That's pretty much impossible while being used, only get numbers like that while not in use (idle). Even %5 an hour while being used isn't likely to happen. Guess i just figured it had to be in ref to idle drain.

Hey
So I received a message that the firmware update was ready to download and install, so i let that happen, the android figure popped up with its its blue symbol indicating that the update was installing. When the progress bar finished, my prime turned off, and isn't turning back on!
Before updating, i had more than 50% battery without dock. So I don't think that my battery failed during the update!
I charged it for about 7 hours, but it's full not turning on..
I've tried volume down power button, i just get vibration after 10 secs.. Then nothing.. even poked the reset hole. Nothing happens!
Is my device bricked?! When it charges, the light comes on
I have very important files on my device, is it possible to extract from internal storage?
NO," Update seems to have screwed prime" is not correct. You screwed up the update.....Thousands have probably used the update successfully.
Was the boot unlocker installed? If so, you can't use the OTA update.
If it was the ota, probably should call Asus...

Second, the OTA does seem to have bricked your prime, due to no fault of your own, the device will not allow you to initiate an update if the battery level is below the minimum required levels. I would call Asus and initiate an RMA.
it wasn't the microphone - it was the reset button.
i suspect sending it back to asus means, i lose all my files?!

It is possible that if you are able to drain the battery to absolute zero (I realise that this will take a long time of simply trying to switch it on over and over again) you may then be able to initiate a charge and it will magically come back to life.
I know that this seems ridiculous, but this exact procedure is known to have helped many users in your very same situation with earlier updates.
Perhaps sticking some tape over the power button to keep it constantly pressed down will aid you in getting the battery to zero.
This would be my first suggestion. If this still does not help. RMA is the only option. I would suggest that when you call ASUS about an RMA that you state categorically that the files are of extreme importance. They probably won't be able to help on that side, but it is worth asking about.
found 1 thread with the exact thing :

but they didnt have a solution lol..
but, i did see that when plugging my atp into the pc, results it in
device manager showing" APX", but there are no drivers found. any significance there?
its hard to drain the battery. dont know how to do it fast. i dont think taping power button down will do anything :\. once u hold it for 10secs, itll vibrate, but then it wont do anything. so pretty much you need something, a machine, which will retract and contract every 10seconds.. and that aint happening !
so i gotta do it by hand i think
also called up asus and person tried the volume down reset, i knew it wasnt going to work but yeah, im sending it in tomorrow. but i still wanna see if i can drain and get it to start up!

Did you drop it? or hit against anything? if you computer detects it and everything, try plugging the micro HDMI to a TV and if you get a image. Most likely your screen connection is loose.
