Battery Life - Nokia Lumia 800

Hello everyone.
I have ordered the Lumia 800 for my dad, and I was just wondering how is the battery life?
My dad is 50+ so he is not going to use it alot, only some call per day and some sms, and mayby some photos.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
With 5-10 mins of talking, 1-2 sms-s / day, and very moderated wifi usage my phone lasts for 3 and half - 4 days!
Using a mailbox with push notification and surfing on boring lessons, chatting with friends listening to music, and playing a little, I usually charge It every second day.

Thx

Does anyone know what battery life is like?

Just wanted to know what the battery life was on the HTC Amaze 4G
Sent from my SGH-T839 using Tapatalk
I get about a day and half on a full charge with 1 exchange, gmail, facebook. I leave my GPS off unless I need it, keep backlight to lowest setting.
8 hours medium usage .
8 hours at moderate use? What would you consider moderate use. That's terrible battery life.
I will upload a video showing that.
I'm really interested to hear real world accounts too.
I've read a few reviews with _wildly_ different accounts of battery life, from 24-48 hrs (techcrunch review) to 3-4hrs (engadget).
What are people experiencing. I love the idea of this phone, but I rely heavily on having phone access (for old fashioned calling) throughout my work day, and I don't want to make a mistake!
Thanks
I burn about 15% battery per work day (about 9 hours) with light use.
Medium sync rates for Gmail and FB
No exchange account
Black background
Brightness at 25%
GSM (2G) Only
My usage is generally about 30 or 40 text messages, a few MMS, taking a few pictures, downloading a few apps and some light web browsing. I'm a light talker, about 20 - 30 min per day.
I'm very pleased with the out-of-the-box battery experience, even with the inability to disable all animations. Been using for about a week and the experience has been fairly consistent.
It isn't good , it die's within a day .

1 day is good for me. If it can last until I get ready to go to sleep and charge it again then I'm fine.

well i guess you guys will know on 11/11/11 at 11:11AM.
sucks about the non-removable battery...
at least there's still the possibility of some sort of external battery device that'll connect to it's USB port.
my 2c
Mine is on its third charge, and its still getting better
charge overnight via AC,
unplug at 8am for a full workday
2 push email accounts with up to 100 emails a day (1 gmail, 1 exchange)
whatsapp messages all day
bluetooth on in the car for 2 hours a day
bit of browsing and RSS reading thru the day
10 minutes of calls
end of work day ~ 40%.
get to 20% at about 10pm
so enough to get thru a work day, if you need to go out at night, get a car charger or similar.

Very good and detailed information. Thanks!
if the battery goes that quickly with such minimal use, i'd be screwed big time. with my current setup(thunderbolt - no razr here till Friday) I have a 4500mAh extended battery + a 5000mAh external power pack(9500mAh total) I easily blow through that in less then a day.
I am a heavy data user though. constant HQ audio streaming, downloading, video streaming, etc. around 30GB/month on a slow month.

you're not on Verizon right? So not 4G/LTE?
That sounds like pretty good battery life to me on 3G!

hahaha, you do sound like a real heavy user, I dont have time to stream anything as I'm replying to the 100 push emails in an average work day!
Ps. My screen on time would be higher than most due to the typing.
I'm an average user, don't stream much at all. Granted, it's only the first day, but I charged this baby up and have been using it nonstop for email, web, and text for close to 5 hours and I'm at 50%. Played a couple of short videos as well.
As I said, it's the first charge so I assume the life will get better over the next couple of days. But so far so good.
To the guy who burns through nearly 10,000 MaH a day, there's no reason in the world you should get a phone without a removable battery!!!!

2 days with it now, getting better day after day... Smart Actions really a big add to the battery life.. On the first day, with out smart actions, It was over for 22 hours with good usage of internet/calls/display/music streaming from motocast etc..
And the next day, I have done some settings on smart actions, already 25 hours over, I still have 30% left though the same way I have used it on the first day... So, Thumbs-up Guys.... I expect it for another 4-5 hours as such we get it for 30 hours... That is better than any phone right now in the markret.. Smart Actions is the magic...
horrible battery life
I might be taking mine back. I've had it off the charger since 8:30AM, it is now 1:30 and the battery is at 30%. This is very unacceptable to me, especially since I really haven't done anything on it today. I really like the phone, but I can't have it charging all day.

You are, I'm assuming?
I've been off the charger for 4 hours and 15 minutes, and I'm at 70%, with moderate use and no smart actions, with a mix of 4G, 3G, and Wifi (it switcehs between 4G and 3G a lot). I'm satisfied with those numbers, especially considering I'm upgrading from an Incredible.
I'd give it an understandable amount of battery life credit. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. This is compared to my sgs2.

[Q] Battery life?

Yeah, curious on how the Lumia 800's battery goes. I'd love to switch to Nokia, but the 900 is too expensive for me.
All I might use is:
-3G
-Wi-Fi in case I know that it works at home
-an occasional game (aka max. 5 min/day)
-about 15-20 min. of music/day.
So, how will the battery manage it?
Also, how does the battery react after that "battery-tripling" update?
I'm wondering the same, I love wp7 and am about to swap my sensation for a lumia 800. Surely it can't be as bad as an android phone like my sensation right? Cause that only lasts 12 hours Max with what I do which is play the odd game, send about 20 texts a day and about an hour or 2 of browsing.

I use my lumia 800 all day, I mean I really use it :
writting about 20-30 sms
3G internet is on all time becouse I use the phone for business so,
sending 40-50 E-mails /day
The E-mail synchronisation is all time on with instant synchronisation with IMAP server so i instantly get the e-mail when it's arrives
PLay games ~30 min / day
Talking 3-4 hours (3G) /day
Browsing 1-2 hours
And I get 8-9% Battery life at the end of the day.
So like any other smart phone I can say If you use it, you have to charge it every night.
Before lumia i had a C7 (which I accidentally throw out of a window ) It was the same thing about that phone i hadd to charge it every night.
But hey I'm not dissapointed about this, it last very long if you dont browsing sending e-mails all day like me, on hollydays i barely use it, and then it keeps the charging very vell then with one charge iit lasts 3-4 days ( usualy i only make phone calls on hollydays)
Sorry for my poor English
Hope I could give some usable answer
----->
Thanks! That helps me. My sensation dies before I leave work sometimes so as long as I haven't got to take my charger to work everyday I'll be happy
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
Well... it depends when do you leave from work
By the way I have an usb cable at work, so my advice is that keep one at your work place too just in case...
with the last update, my phone has a good battery life, i can go through the whole day with a good usage, sms/ calls, internet browsing, music( lot of ^^), some pictures sometimes
Love my lumia.....
I can easily go through one day with my Lumia 800.
- No data connection
- WiFi constantly turned on
- approx 200 SMS
- up to one hour of browsing the web
- ocassionaly some gaming
I'm very satisfied with my Lumia 800 battery life. It's the best among all recent smartphones I've owned so far (iPhone 4, Nokia C7, Xperia Arc). My last charge still has 9% left and it gave me 34 hours of moderate usage. I can go trhu a whole day of heavy usage without any problem!
Well, I don't have a lumia 800 but I have a closer relative to it which is the 710. They are both the same except for the screen and battery size. Of course the 800 would be more power efficient than the 710 since it has an amoled screen.
But I can go around 16 hours with moderate usage, 30ish hours with light.
I struggle to get a day out of it with:
1) 4 email accounts (2 set to push, the other 2 accounts poll every hour). Probably only read 4-10 of the emails a day
2) Light Twitter usage (a single account and read < 200 tweets a day)
3) A couple of calls and SMSes.
4) ~30 of web browsing.
Turning off push email on all accounts seems to help a lot.
To put it in comparison, my Desire HD could easily last a day and I was using that more:
1) All email accounts were using push.
2) 3 twitter accounts
3) Google+
My Lumia 710 battery life is usseless, always on fridays take 50 photos, always Wi-fi, send 30-40 E-Mails, 2 hrs of calls, 2 or 5 messages, and have to charge it...
My lumia 800 Battery life is good...
data connection on 24x7....
heavy texting around 200 msgs min a day....
1-2 hrs of calling...
frequent checking mails and replying...
playing for about 15-20 odd mins....
10-15 Photo's daily....
chatting using Facebook chat...
i get about 30-35% battery left after all this at night....
charge it in morning straight away...
since i came back in my own country (france, was in finland), my battery is even better!
it was good, it is now almost awesome for my heavy use!
i can go through the whole day easily, with remaining charge at the end of the day.
Nice, i can now use my phone as a mp3 player everyday.

Some of you guys slay me. You mean to tell me you got 18hrs out of your 3d browsing the internet, texting, calling, and listening to music? What's normal use for you? Looking at three website, 5 texts, and two 5 min calls? Not being coy or anything but no way you get that out of a stock battery with normal use on any rom.

I get 24 hours plus quite a bit. I'm on an old Fresh ROM. And I do use my phone all day. I get hundreds of texts, a few calls, plus I play Words a bunch and Draw Something a few times a day. Here is my chart from yesterday. I did charge about 15 minutes late in the day in my car as you can see in the chart. But this was after 30+ hours of up time. I get amazed myself at how long this thing can go.
To me, screen on time and actual usage really indicate what you get out of a charge. I get about 3 hours of screen on time browsing and reading books before I'm at low battery. Usually, 16 hours is about what I get out of a charge with 2-3 hours of gaming and internet. The only thing I miss from the iPhone is battery: easily 2x the usage over the EVO.

Not bad. What Rom are you running? As for the iPhone, I had a 4, and I think running a single core helped the battery out a bit. That and I had way better at&t coverage vs sprint.

I think sense 3.0 is kind of a battey killer too tho it was with me
I get around 12 hours, but that's with an extended battery.
Just to note a thing - listening music does not eat battery much after all if i switch to airplane mode. Also more apps I install - battery runs out faster. Even with sync off.
With wifi on, sync off I pull it out from charging for 15-16 hours with 20-30% battery life at the end. I use it to text people, check facebook, few phonecalls and listen to music for about hour.
Oh its stock battery.
There should be multiple threads running about this in general. all the flasholics who focus on battery life should post there experiences, with information on the battery brand, ROM, kernel, and usage .
Clearly we all seem to have very different experiences, but finding common aspects of those with the best battery life would be greatly valuable tot he rest of us.
im using a:
1900mah cheapo battery from ebay.
SOS M ICS 3.6 with Sock Kernel
14 Hrs heavy use.
1 day+ in standby
longer battery change rom
kernals have alot to do with battery life,
best battery life i have seen is running meanrom with 5.4 dadova or 5.2 depending on what you feel is a little more stable. I run chads quadrant 1a because I love the speed and batterry is still better then stock
Going from stock Gingerbread ROM to senseless ICS moded ROM nearly doubled my battery life.It went from 24h to almost 48h with absolutely same usage of the phone
Wich senseless ROM did you Flash?

Battery life on Music player

So im going on holiday soon and just want a rough idea on how long to expect from the battery with just listening to music in plane mode.
Im currently using xlite v1.3 ROM so my battery use day to day is awesome i get on avg 15 hours use and have 70%+ remaining(bout 40 mins music listening in car, web browsing, calls, texting and maybe 15 mins playing snake), also do headphones make a massive impact on the battery life? Headphones i will be using re either Audio Tecnica ATH M50 or Shure SRH 840 (the Shures are mine and the M50s a friends).
Would really appreciate if someone could roughly tell me as i have a 11.5 hour flight then a 5 hour waiting time and then a second flight of 5.5 hours...
Regards Matt
buy a second battery then you have no worries
I get well over a full day when listening to music (and taking a few photos etc) through headphones. Can't comment on using loudspeaker though.
I use Poweramp and am on Omega v11 so would expect similar battery life to you.
