Failed restock - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have attempted to restock my s3 using the guide Stock Official Firmwares by Faryaab, I had a few hicups but managed to get the phone to work. I used the latest firmware from this guide (I9300XXBLG8) but first thing I tried to change the area code thing so that kies would recognize my device but once i entered my imei number using the x#272x thing but when the preconfig screen comes up i dont have the list it just says eur. and the second problem I am having is I now can not connect my s3 to my pc via usb as it has stopped working can anyone assist.
Cheers
Eddie

[Q] Been Having Lots Of Problems. Help me please.

Ok, so basically I got one Galaxy Ace.
I've installed some apps and it crashed and couldn't turn on. Til them the cellphone would work fine.
Then I've flashed it with a 2.3.5 Firmware, and after that I've started having network problems(sometimes Emergency Calls Only, sometimes it connects to the network but when I try to call it beeps and disconnect me, usually it works for one call and then stops).
I live in Canada. I've heard it might be some 3G problems.
I've tried installing the KIES European firmware, and the 2.3.3 Provider firmware. Same problems though.
How should I proceed? Which firmware should I use?
Flash the different modems and see which is better for you .

Which one do you recommend me? Can I change the Modem if I use One Packages?

yes. flash onepackage first and then flash another modem taken from full package. maybe u should also consider to change product code to match ur region/country.

Might it be the provider? I have the same firmware (2.3.5) and I haven't had any of those problems.
It wasn't the provider, could be the cellphone or the firmware. They gave me a new one, same model. It's working properly now. Thanks.

Will Sammobile firmwares receive OTA?

this may sound like an absolute NOOB Question but i had a rooted S3 and for some reason it was acting terrible
i therefore downloaded a stock firmware from sammobile and flashed it using odin
i was just wondering if i can still get OTA Updates or Kies
i ask this because when i connect it to kies it says "your device does not support upgrading through Kies" ( this is when using the USB cable that came with the phone, but if i use a USB cable that goes with any other phone it says "Current version Etc"
many thanks Jack

So are you some kind of a wizard ? he didnt state that he was using jellybean. ANY WAYS.
Op, if your using a stock firmware from sammobile then yes you will receive OTA updates.
EDIT : If your device doesn't get detected from kies you probably didn't choose the correct firmware for your phone or the CSC is wrong follow this video to restore it to completely http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_8Tga_yKywc
You need to download the firmware for your region, then kies will detect your phone.

I flashed the firmware BTU, my S3 is an unlocked version, international and i flashed one of them (not JB)
Please jb now!!
Enviado desde mi GT-I9300 usando Tapatalk 2
I did the exact same thing. Flashed BTU then kies gave me the same error. You need to change your CSC to BTU also. Then you will be able to upgrade via kies or OTA. Be warned though changing the CSC causes a complete wipe of all data and apps etc.

I always just flash the generic UK FW and always get the OTA notification in the notification bar.
Another question:
I have a branded S3 (so not unlocked) and ive flashed the stock LH1 ROM to it, so now my CSC is unbranded (but matches my country)
so my question is, will i get OTA updates in the future?
After connecting to KIES i get the "this is the latest firmware version" message, so not the "your device does not support upgrading through Kies" message.
This means its OK?

If it's stock firmware for your specific device and region, it will work.

I have an unbranded one and I have never got an OTA notification I have to update through Kies (or Odin) never found the problem, went to a service centre and all they said when I show them the error OTA throws out is to reflash (well of course they said they would do it)
Sorry for hijacking he thread

Sorry to be a pain but how do i change my CSC? Also, BTU has to be the one im using because all the other options are Ukrange, vodafone Etc :')
I've noticed when you root your device you will not get the ota because your device status is modified

[Q] How to change my voicemail number?

Any one knows how to change my VM automatic Dial number? When I flashed using Odin, it shows that it's unknown, however If I try to add it it asks me to contact my phone provider... which has nothing to do, since they only provide the SIM card,
What's strange is that, if I install any ROM then the phone will work fine and recognize all service numbers that it should, it only happens if the original fw is installed.
P.S My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830L, but it's the same as the rest of the Ace's.

Software having a different model number than the sticker at the back of the battery.

I need help
After going through the internet I still haven't found a fix so I came here.
My problem is that I have a Samsung galaxy note 3.
On the package box and the sticker on the back of the battery of the phone (not on the battery) it says my phone's model number is sm-n900 but when I go into odin/download/bootloader mode is said sm-n9006. I flashed sm-n9006 on my phone when it got stuck and while my odin said sm-n9006 and my software originally was sm-n900. I tried using odin to flash back to sm-n900 but I always get an error message but works when flashing sm-n9006 as if my phone confused its own software. So please can someone help me, other people may also have the problem.
Thank you.

I just installed it and I got a screen telling wether to se usb cable or wifi
I'd use USB. I've never had much luck with SS, I just want to see what firmware it thinks your device should take. Then try to flash it with Odin. It may be N900S, N9005, etc.
