I rooted the MT3G with ease. And the flashing of Roms and stuff is easy for Mt3g. But it seems hard for the Vibrant. I don't use abd or anything cause frankly. I don't know how. Can you guys maybe give me suggestions?

Read, understand, experiment. Ppl only get their troubles or "panic" because they dont have anything setup & dont know how to get them selves out it. If you dont want to learn our try to use the tools that are available then just wait till the one-click ROMS or CM comes out.
If you want to take the time to learn then I would suggest to head over to the vibrant "bible".
Easiest way is just to down load one click lag fix from market there is a root option there. Or it really was easy this oas my first android phone. Download the update filter put it in the internal sd and rebooted using hold vol + vol- and power. And installed from there no problem.
Just check out the stickied thread about vibrant tips and tricks

There is also a "One Click Lag Fix" that you can download here, it takes like 20 seconds to root this phone, you shouldn't be scared

I wondered about rooting too at first, but as it turns out it's very easy. I've read several comments on how easy it is to root the Vibrant compared to Android phones back in the olden days.
And if you want to flash a neat ROM, go check out Bionix.

I just got this phone 2 days ago (my first smartphone ever!) and I've flashed it probably 6 or 7 times now...
Important advice: Right now, once you've installed Clockwork ROM Manager, make a backup of your ROM! I really wish I'd done this, just a near-stock, untouched backup (yes every thread post starts with "make a backup!" but I was stupid)
Now for some encouragement: If I, with zero knowledge of Android/rooting/ROMs/build.prop files/Clockwork/adb/Odin before Sunday at 4 pm, managed to F with this phone as much as I have and not even come close to bricking it, you'll be *golden* just flashing it with a well-known ROM.
Flashing ROMs is super easy with Clockwork. It's like... 3 or 4 clicks easy.
Right now I'm running Bionix and really enjoying it. You might check it out while we all wait for Cyanogenmod to come out for Vibrant.
TL;DR: I've been pushing files, flashing broken ROMs, all sorts of fun stuff and my phone is still pluggin' away. I wouldn't worry too much about bricking. Just read the threads, search the Googles, and ask for help if you get really stuck. And backup.
Make sure you check out Eugene323's stuff as well. He puts out some incredible work.

I had more problems with my MT3G than I did with this phone. It took a day to root and rom the MT3G since I have the one with the head phone jack (stupid gold card crap).
Do what everyone has suggested. DL the One Click Lag Fix and touch the option to root. I'm running the Bionix 1.3 and it's good.
Since I rooted my phone and flashed this rom my gps no longer works. No application can detect my gps or get my location.

in general just reading the op of the rom you are downloading will tell you everything you need to know.
as to your gps woes it will be a while until the vibrant has functioning gps on CM7 (waiting on a gingerbread leak and source code as i understand it) so my suggestion to you would be to get an external bluetooth gps receiver like the ones discussed in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15466429#post15466429
I personally have the one mentioned in the op and i can tell you that it works 500% better than the stock gps on the vibrant ever did (either on eclair or froyo)

the reason that it seemed like the sky fell on you was, first you asked a question that has been asked in the thread that it should be asked in, oh about every 5 posts since cm7 for the vibrant was released.
But what really took it over the top, was you felt the need to make a separate thread about it, and even went so far as to say that cm7 broke your gps. had you read probably 3 of the last pages in the cm7 thread before posting this, you would have known you answer, and probably had you opened the vibrant dev section and viewed threads there, you'd have seen the public service announcement thread about gps not working.
I know some of the responses are inappropriate, but it's more about you felt entitled enough to make a dedicated thread about it rather than using the tools available to you in the first place to find your answer.

the answer to this question and more can be found by opening the vibrant dev section, and first reading the thread titles, followed by reading the first post in the rom your interested in, and looking for a place where they list what isn't working/broken.

Noted, I do plan on flashing another rom, but I am a little scared. I am reading CM7 is different from most roms and I would have to flash a new kernel and rom and etc to have it, but im still a little confused on how to do it
While I am also shocked you missed this... to answer your question, you may prefer a rom like Trigger 3.2. Its rock stable, has gps, and is themed well. it is not GB.
If you HAVE to have GB, try Asgard.

i'm not going to explain howto here, as the post right abvove mine has a link to a how to, you'll need to odin back to jfd before flashing any other rom besides miui.
basically all Froyo/Eclair Roms Have working GPS. The Big Name JVP Roms have working GPS. CM7/Miui and any variants of them do NOT have working GPS.
so just goto the development section and look at any 2.3.4 Roms NOT cm7/Miui and read the features and/or Changlog for full information. SGSII clone/hybrid and Simply Honey are excellent choices both based off JVP and have "working" gps. just make sure you read the op to understand how gps functions with those roms.
Good Luck.
just make sure you ODIN back to JFD stock before flashing anything else or you'll experience bootloops and thats annoying imo.
****** Stay away from Bootloaders if your new to all this as you can Permanently paperweight your phone if you flash a new rom hastily without reading and removing certain load files in the rom. *******
Well thanks guys I will look into it, If I go back to stock does that mean it will be unrooted? or just rooted but stock everything else?

GB = Gingerbread
Android Releases
Stock Vibrant 2.1 (Eclair
Froyo 2.2+
Gingerbread 2.3+
you should have a modified update.zip from rooting originally you can use that to reroot your phone and begin flashing again
Odin back to stock
3 button to recovery
update packages until you reach clockwork recovery menu then flash new rom its that easy.
if you want full functionality stay away from CM7/Miui for the time being.

you should have 3 things on your PC
Odin3 (i have V1.81)
512.pit
T959UVJFD.tar
that will get you to stock.
then from there follow the 3 button method i posted above to reroot.
and to answer your question yes the guides will work fine. and again i can't stress this enough stay away from Bootloaders, as your knowledge and research about flashing seems lacking atm you can perma break your vibrant (not meaning this offensively)
Thanks man, I will try this soon =]
I have the Fascinate and I love it.
But for the last few days I have tried many different roots, all work until I want to go into clockwork. What are the correct steps from step one to loading clockwork and load a rom, preferably miui. I had the og droid and was great at booting and loading rom's but the fascinate is throwing me for a loop.
Soo with that said I would like to make a request for anyone willing to do it, please show/tell me how to do this. I have seen posts on new roms, but not rooting updates and etc.

I believe power washed ed05 froyo has the latest market.
So I rooted this phone a few months ago and it originally had Eclair 2.1. I did some research on here and found a guide to root and first installed CM7 and then ICS Passion. Last night I had some issue with my Firefox browser. And I had to reboot it. Then it just shut down down on me and got stuck in a boot loop. I did a quick back up and tried to reboot it from recovery and it's still stuck in the loop. I then did a system restore from that back up, nothing. I did notice that it won't mount the /emmc or /data says it can't mount /emmc. When I try to go to restore anything from the internal SD card it Says there is some kind of error. Now when I try to boot it, it just shows "android" logo and is stuck in a boot loop there. Yeah I'm pretty new at this but I don't know what else I can do. Please help. Thanks in advance
Update: so I was able to revert back to factory settings and still kept ICS on it. The only major thing that I had changed before this incident was I downloaded Beats Audio Driver Root from the Google play store. I should've backed up, I know, bad NooB.
But can anyone tell me about the /emmc and /data folders or whatever not wanting to mount or read? Is that because of the driver?

I've got to tell you that you dodged a huge bullet here. What was about to happen to you is the dreaded Encryption Unsuccessful bug that has been plaguing the Vibrant, Captivate and a slew of other devices. It is totally fixable. There is a workaround using your External SD but as for a cure, there is none. Some people have miraculously come out of it, but no one knows why and it is not reproducible.
Here is my guide for installing ICS from Éclair. Read the whole thread from start to finish. It is only 19 pages and there is a crap-ton of information in there. From Bootloaders, to ROMs, to the EU bug.
You can also go into my Repo thread or N00B_IN_N33D's Bible for any files that you may need.
I see you are in Cincinnati. If you ever need some hands on help, shoot me a PM and I might be around to help. When I first got into Android, I had a Motorola and joined XDA. Had a few guys hand-hold me threw some things but there were about 4 guys that were local in the boards. So that was a bit reassuring.
Skinzy98 - I took your advice on upgrading to JellyBean and it's pretty groovey. I appreciate the advice on that. Of course I did some dumb stuff first: I got all the files on my external SD card and forgot to put them on my internal SD card and then proceeded to do my wipe for factory reset, cache, and the delvik cache. Genius I know right?
Luckily I did a backup first but I got stuck in the boot loop. And as luck would have I still had the zip files from I originally rooted this phone from eclair to cm to ICS. So I tried the ICS zip... Boot loop again... Then I tried the cm9 zip and by George I got somewhere with it lol. And am now sending this with jellybean 4.2.1. I believe I am now an expert on how not to do this lol.
I did experience some initial difficulty with installing jellybean tho. The first time there was some error. The second time it got stuck on the a sung Vibrant load screen. And third time's a charm and bit worked out wonderfully.

I haven't needed to use the GPS. Come to think of it, it didn't come with the AngryGPS app that I had on ICS Passion. I had no problems with gps with that app. The only time I have used the GPS since upgrading to JB is while I was using the GasBuddy app which uses my GPS location to find nearby gas stations and show me the pricing. What can I say? I'm a penny pincher. It seemed to follow me alright, but I can neither confirm nor deny without using an actual GPS app. Anyone know where I can get and how upload a copy of AngryGPS? I'm all ears.
Update:
Nevermind I found one a really good one. It's dead on where I'm at. Only took a couple of seconds to locate me. I am currently having no issues. I can test it out tomorrow on my way to work and so forth.
The GPS worked great the whole time. The only issue j experienced was trying to wake it up. It just wouldn't pull up my lock screen when it the power button. Not sure if that's an issue j can fix or not.

Hi guys, I am very new to the Note 2. I just unlocked and rooted the latest ota using Casual. Thanks to Adam Outler and everyone else involved. So my question is which ROMs are compatible with this ota? Basic question I'm sure. I came from the Razr and the kernel had to match so I assume its the same here? Anyone willing to shed some light on this for me would be greatly appreciated.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
Any rom you want as long as it is in the VZW Note 2 threads can be flashed ours arent locked down by what update we are on because our bootloader is unlocked where it isnt on Moto phones. AOSP roms require AOSP kernels as TW roms require TW kernels. The roms come with kernels though so that isnt something tk worry about unless you I want to.
The only thing to remember is if you go to a 4.2 rom and want t I go back to 4.1 you have to flash a downgrade zip so your SD card doesnt become corrupted. You can find the downgrade zip in the Official CM 10.1 thread in the OP.
Check out Droidstyles guide in Android Development, its a sticky, it explains quite a bit and would ne helpful to you I think.

Thanks for the info. Exactly the answers and info I was looking for. I just flashed CleanROM and went through the flashing process. When it got to the end and said finish to reboot it just turned off and wouldnt turn back on. Couldn't get to recovery or download mode. I had to pull the battery and then turn it on. It went straight to the new ROM though without a hitch. Is that a normal part of the flashing procedure on the N2? The battery pull I mean, or did I miss something?

Thats not a normal thing to happen, but it does happen occasionally. As long as it boots up after the battery pull I wouldnt be too worried by it. I have had it happen to me before and after the battery pull I experienced no issues whatsoever.

CleanROM's good. It was the first ROM I flashed when I got my Note II too.
Eventually though, you may want to switch to something more feature-rich like Jelly Beans, which is what I'm rocking now. The features it adds are pretty awesome and you get full touchwiz functionality (S-Pen and the like) with the look of AOSP.
DL'ing Jelly Beans now. Gotta make a new TiBu before flashing though. Will give it a go shortly. My wife fusses at me sometimes cause on my old phone (Razr) and on this one I am always flashing different ROMs. She especially hates it when she calls and my phone goes directly to voicemail cause I am in recovery flashing a ROM or kernel.

Hi all, I'm feeling like a n00b on the Note too, and really appreciate the help all of you seem to be willing to share with each other. I'm not new to modding phones, recently I've been through an S3, DNA, RAZR HD and M, and even another Note 2. I made the mistake of swapping the Note 2 for an iPhone 5, and regretted it about thirty seconds later. Now that's my wife's phone, and due to the grace of another (local) xda member, I'm back rockin' the Note 2. This time around in looking forward to getting into some serious flashing and tweaking to get the most from the hardware. I've decided this is Verizon's best phone at the moment, with everything I need.
Don't worry, you're not alone in having a wife who gets annoyed at flashing and tweaking. Happens to me all the time, but I use the excuse it's one of the few hobbies that I have which doesn't involve the rest of the family and I need a bit of alone time. It kind of works as an excuse until the point where I need to use it again.
I'm looking forward to being part of this community and wanted to say hello.
