Hi all,
When I unlocked my phone, I used junoper bears unlock. I did the whole shabang including his firmware. Since then My battery is terrible. I even purchased the Anker battery that everyone raves about. I can't even get a half day out of it. I changed batteries at the t-mobile store as well. Still half day worth of battery life. Is it possible that the firmware or RUU may be bad? I am currently on
HBOOT 1-93.0002
v02.6.0.2226.00.0202
Thanks for any help
i'd suggest you to
1) charge to 100% battery
2) reflash the FULL RUU (radio, stock rom, ... should be >400MB) for your specific phone. You can find links in the develop forum
mine had that problem when I got it from someone else (phone wouldn't last 8 hours)... reflashed the full RUU, phone lasts longer now (>16 hours depending on usage)
ok, I will try this and report back. Thanks

Hi all,
I am sorry if this has been already asked.. I searched the forum but couldn't find what I was looking for.. I am using SD build of American android (CM7.1 based). I dual boot it with WM6.5.. I am on HardSPL 2.08 and radio updated to 2.15.50.14, before installing American Android. My battery drain is not less than 60mA in standby (99% of time) and what I have learned through this forum, It might be due to the current radio version. I intend to downgrade my radio to 2.12.50.02_2, hoping to resolve inappropriate battery issue. My question is.. Is it safe to just flash 2.12.50.02_2 radio without doing any harm to my hd2? BTW, mine is the European version T8585. Thanks in anticipation.
I've only gone up in radio builds not down but I can't imagine it would mess anything up to downgrade. I doubt however that the radio rev is causing the drain issue, it might be but I'm on 2.12 and have similar problems. The number one factor for me is the SD card. With the stock Sandisk HD2 16gb card, all is goodness, I even purchased an identical card so I could easily swap out builds but when I use anything other than the stock card I have massive battery drain issues. So much so that the phone gets physically hot and I'll go from full charge to almost dead in the span of a couple of hours. I've also noticed recently that when I try out a new build for the first couple of hours I get big drain, I'm guessing because the phone is syncing and updating but it's more noticeable now than before.
If you haven't done so try out the MIUI builds, they are incredible.
It's not your radio it's the ROM,
you can safely downgrade to that radio with no problems.
With Android, you don't want any radio below 2.10.50 because then you get problems in the ROMs, you can safely flash any of those (2.10.50 and above) on your phone.
Thanks!!!
Thanks both of you for the prompt reply. I just fully discharged my hd2 and recharged to 100% through AC outlet (not USB). After getting to Android the current widget log shows 7mA on standby.. earlier it was not less than 60mA. So I guess I have to wait and see.. There's no hurry! Thanks again both of you for being so helpful!
no worries man, glad you got it back to 7.
Im starting this thread because of every battery thread I've read people NEVER seem to solve the problem unless they replace their ATRIX. Now a few questions. This is directed to any ATRIX owner in an attempt to find a solid solution.
1. Did your ATRIX only start having battery issues after upgrading to gingerbread?ATRIX or have you had issues beginning from stock froyo?
2. Has any solution suggested by anyone ever worked for you?
3. Does your ATRIX get hot and battery drains extremely fast?
4. Are you frequently connected to 4g H+?
If you answer no. To #2 and yes to #3 I suspect it may be a hardware problem...
on the battery this is what I see and find strange and this is the battery that came with the phone.
1880mah
1880/1930
Mah(min/typ)
7.0/7.1
Wh(min/typ)
Idk where to find production number so I guessed its this [GB/T 18287]
On the phone idk the specific so I took a guess too XD [SKU:65230]
if someone knows the two above please correct me but anyways I posted those because we can compare for those that have a problem and maybe pinpoint it to be a factory defect. Again I am doing this because this battery AND heating issue is aggravating and after 2 months I can't stand it anymore no fixes ever worked so help me and those with the issue out by providing information thanks.
Hello,
1-Yes
2-Not really, I have increase the battery life but not good as the stock Froyo.
3-Yes, but as I remember it get hot too on Froyo. Less or more... I don't know.
4-Always
I have buy an Andida 2200mAh battery and use it since 3 week, I will return to the stock battery tomorrow to check if there is a difference.
1- Nope, my battery has always lasted for around 8-10 hours everyday. (I play games and browse the internet everyday).
2-Never had any battery problem so....
3-Not at all. My Atrix has always been cool.
4. for about 4-5 hours a day (usually i am on wifi but wifi or not.....i have the same battery life).
It could be a ROM problem that you are having, maybe doing a clean install of a ROM could help you(do a complete wipe before installing the ROM). Are you using faux 123's kernel? It under-clocks your Atrix to as low as 216 GHz when your handset is idle but overclocks it to 1.1 GHz when it use. You could download setcpu to under-clock it for better battery saving and this will make your phone less hot.
You can and should also download a battery app from the market and see what your battery temp is like compared to other users. If it's a hardware issue indeed, you better return your Atrix and get a new one asap as it could cause you harm in the future.

That's just it with everything stock gingerbread my friends ATRIX doesn't heat up as hot and eat through batteries like a fat guy an a dozen doughnuts in one sitting. We both had stock when I tried this his phone easily outlasts mine both on 4g and a factory reset I tested this when he asked me to root his phone I was gunna kill its bat and charge it to root and install unlock etc. And to my surprise holy sh#t his battery life WAY outlasted mine, AND HIS DEVICE IS ONE.MONTH OLDER i've had this ATRIX for 2 months now so its none of whatever everyone is saying about battery caliBS its a firm suspicion on a hardware flaw, the sooner people can find it the sooner Motorola can replace defective handsets, ridiculous, two stock gingerbread motorolas with 100% stock and mine only lasts about had as
long as my friends own who gets battery results everyone brags about.
i own 3 atrixes ive had an atrix since launch day had its issues at first but one thing that was never a problem was the battery it was always amazing lasted 2 days sometimes well since the offical ota uPdate i updated only one that way its my main phone and right away i noticed the heat coming from the metal clip holding the sd card then next i noticed the batt life was losing 10 every 20 mins or so. since i have rooted it just so i could try n use tb to freeze all the bloatware and still nothing then i tryed just bout every other method on this forum so i didnt wanna lose my warrenty on that 1 so i didnt unlock it so i took my other atrix with a slightly cracked screen it was running on 4.1.26 so i rooted it unlocked it and charged too 100 then flashed to alien v3 so wen it was done it upgraded to gb and right away i noticed the heat from it just like my other one and battery life was losing 10% every 20 mins just like my other one i have also tryed everything on this forum im lost now dnt no wat to do somebody please help also as upset i am about this happing im very relieved to c im not the only person with this issue
Ok so here is my setup, I've been rooted since the hour that Revolutionary first dropped, been on plenty or ROMs, stick with Decks Sense ROM, and currently have all firmware up to date. Prior to the 2.3.4 update, my phone slept amazingly well, the little blips on the battery use graph page almost always lined up perfectly between the screen on and awake bars. When the update was released and the new radios were posted, I originally flashed the newest radio/pri combo just to have everything that matters up to date. I quickly realized that after doing so, my phone didn't sleep well at all, the "awake" bar had many little slivers of activity when the screen was off. Keeping in mind that I'm no noob and have been troubleshooting to the best of my abilities, I could use some help now... I have tried reflashing ROMs, turning off the Google auto backup/restore, leaving the phone stock with 0 third party apps and probably other things to try to pinpoint my issue. I have even went and flashed the whole new firmware minus hboot combo pack in hopes of correcting this but to no avail... I'm not sure what else to try so I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than myself can offer me some pointers or suggestions. Attached are some screened showing what I'm talking about. Please note that while my battery life is still pretty decent, and this was a particularly good day, this was with the phone rarely being used as I was at work all day.
Here are the screens showing the issue.
I have the same issue. And my phone is official ROM without rooted or unlocked. (buy from HTC) So, I guess it is a bug from HTC (nothing to do with custom ROM)
Bumped since I'm really hoping to see hear some ideas.
Pretty please...
hello,
my atrix runs under official stock rom 2.3.4, but phone idles battery usage is very high, and drains battery at most. i dont know the reason and coulnt solve this problem, any idea?
why this official stock roms phone idle drains the battery?any solution ? or should i wait the update for orange uk , maybe they relase 2.3.5 which doesnt have this problem or should it back to gurantee for changing a new one or take my money back.
thx for your solutions and suggestions
did you try hard reset?
Flash a clean image through CWM?
hmm you could go back and request another phone but most probably its that you have all sort of accounts signed in and set them to update all the time over mobile data or even wifi. might check on that, or maybe you installed an app that keeps waking the phone/accessing data. factory wipe wouldnt be that bad of an idea.

@crnkoj
i already did factory wipe but didnt help
still no suggestions?
You must ask questions in the Q&A forum. If I see you post in two forums one more time, I'm going to unleash some major pain.
Your question is not more important than other questions from other members. Please follow the rules.
Has your phone always done this? If so, and it's still under warranty, back up your apps and data and replace the phone. Or consider buying a replacement battery (generally between $10 and $20 --- at least here in the US) and try it out. If you observe the same behavior, you at least have a spare battery without much expense.
The only other thing I can think of is that, if you are comfortable with accessing your phone's file system (your phone would need to be rooted), download QuickSSHd and log into your phone as root from your computer using TeraTerm or other terminal emulator. Then put your phone into idle and invoke UNIX commands from the remote terminal and periodically check for processes running in background. This of course is more for the experienced user.
Hope this helps.
On my Atrix running stock AT&T 2.3.4, Phone idle is almost always the highest use. Higher than display, cell standby, etc. The actual drain with the screen off while it is doing nothing (like most of the time) is so low, I don't really think about it.
If you are reading the battery usage stats and worrying that your phone is draining on that alone, charge it to full before you go to bed, turn off the radios, unplug it for the night. Come back in the morning and check battery level. My guess is that it will have lost almost no power.
That's what I am finding anyway. I never 100% trust Android's battery usage scales.
Flash a different radio.

- So I had some issues with my screen and ended up sending my rezound back to verizon
- they sent me a refurbished phone
- leaving the phone stock, I took the over the air update
- I noticed the battery life was really good
- right now, I am at 21h 54m 22s with 19% battery remaining ( according to the Battery Use )
- has anybody else noticed good battery life on the rezound?
- I am not rooting this phone ( again ) and loading a custom rom with battery life like this
- my friend however, has a rezound, and is running a custom rom, and had to get that HUGE battery, because he can barely make it 8 hours.
- How do I restore his phone to stock?
- the xda post I found was REALLY old, over a year.... Do we have a confirmed method to return to stock?
- his phone is.... s-on, rooted, custom rom, gingerbread+patch firmware
If you want to make sure he's going to be on the same firmware as you you should check your phone for that.
Settings > About > Software info > More
If the build number is 3.14.605.12 or 3.14.605.13 then have him run the RUU for 3.14.605.12 then take the OTA to get him to .13. Since you are stock the kernel and basebands should be what you have if the build number matches.
Here's a link to the RUU for him to download to his pc:
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/?dir=Vigor
Relock the phone:
fastboot oem lock
Double click on the RUU exe file and it will run. Let it run through a while to make sure it is finished, it should run through for a while.
Then if you are on .13 he can just check for update via settings to try to get the OTA.
FYI, I've read where people are getting that kind of battery life on custom ROMs and different people report different battery life even on same ROM with same kernel settings so YMMV, but no harm in trying it out.

Since my phone had it's issues and I relocked and reran the Global RUU, I can't do this can I? I am S-on with absolutely no way to S-off as a Mac user. Once on the Global RUU, you can't go backwards can you?
My other option is to swap my wife's phone with mine, set mine up like hers, swap SIM cards and try it out. I think she might notice though

The bigger question is how much time has your screen actually been on. While I haven't looked at this in a while, I seem to remember something in the range of 2 1/2 - 3 hours of screen time. If your screen time is much greater than that, then you do have great battery time, if not, then you are pretty much status quo. For example, I am currently at 75% for 14 hours but only 15 minutes of screen time. That is with active bluetooth, wifi, etc. I am s-off and using a custom ROM. And when I went to Nils ROM, my battery life inproved. Check your screen time in Battery Use.

Stock nonrooted has always had the best battery life
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I'm running hawknest's ecliptic 7.1 and I've gotten over 24 hours total battery life with over 3 1/2 hours screen on time on standard battery (that was on v7 but am on pace for that on v7.1). So it depends on usage and screen brightness etc.
