Hi,
I just rooted mike1986's custom rom.
But ever since I rooted, my keypad has been freezing and hanging.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall no luck.
Tried variety of keypad no luck.
I searched some forumites suggested to disable / force stop Samsung keypad. I tried that but no luck.
Held down power button for 30 sec to reset my s3 no luck.
So I'm open to suggestions.
I really hope not to regret rooting.

Try reading the rom thread regarding this well known problem . Start from the end and work back.
Rooting is not your problem .
Try giving firmware details if you are asking for help .

Hi thanks for the quick reply.
My firmware details are as follows:
Android version 4.1.1
Build number : ARHD 7.0.0
Well I read the thread more than 10 times. Didn't see any section stating this problem though

Rooting will not cause fcs.. Fcs happen only for 2 reasons either it is a firmware bug or you have not wiped cache, dalvik and/or data if mentioned in the op

Ah, now I realise why. When I flashed I don't think I did the wipes except for superwipe.
I will try that tomorrow and post results

Hi all,
I tried rooting my ATT S2 using the instructions here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414) and everything went perfectly fine, except at the last step where I launched S2 Root, it launched but couldn't see the phone.
Despite all that, now the back button doesn't work and more importantly I cannot send or receive phone calls. I can make and receive the call, but there is no audio.
I guess for now I just want to go back to the stock kernel.
Any help is greatly needed, this is my work phone so I need to get it working again ASAP.
Thanks
Flash a stock rom..

Flash a Stock ROM and use CF-Root if that method fails.
Thanks guys!
I'm new to this, if that wasn't apparent.
So where do I go to get the stock ROM?
Okay, so I found the original ROM and flashed using ODIN, the yellow exclamation mark has gone away, which I assume is a good thing, but the back button is still not working and there is no audio for phone made or received.
Any ideas?
I think the stock rom should be a wipe one...

I don't know why these other people are recommending these things, but this is the I9100 forum and you do not have an I9100.

Sorry oinky, only other choice I saw was the 4G S2, which I don't have, so this forum seemed closest.
But as far as the recommendation, what would you suggest?
In desperate need to get this back online, can't send or receive calls!
Thanks

Have you checked/asked in the threads relating to the specific rom(s) you're (which you haven't mentioned. That's OK tho, we can read minds) if anyone has had issues like you're having/if this a specific bug/issue with that rom ?
Just a thought...
Yup asked in the OMEGA ROM where the first time this appeared dev said he don't know what's wrong after that other ROMs from Android development same bug. I always clean installs new ROM so tried that also

bad wifi module
I have similar problem on I5700 (galaxy spica). In service center they told me that wifi module was bad and colapsed. they exchange him and everything is okay. Did you try factory reset and flash with original rom?
no long time since i flashed stock ROM
looks like have to face it btw everything else working with wifi is good
I've searched through the forums and can't find anyone else having this problem.
When I receive a phone call the screen comes on, but I can't see who is calling and can't answer the call! The call log doesn't record that a call has been received so I can't return the call.
Even if I could return the call it doesn't always work, and when it does I get cut off every few minutes.
In either instance a message saying that the process com.android.phone has stopped working comes up and have to close it!
Not very useful for a phone, its just lucky I don't actually make many calls, but annoying when I do!
I have tried a factory reset, but no luck with that. I am running stock ROM and not rooted yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I'll have to send it off for warranty repair.

Thanks JJEan, flash completed now that I unticked that box!! Now to see if the problem is resolved.
Interestingly, Samsung emailed me saying that it needed soft reset or reflash and suggested that I take phone into one of their service centres. The closest is 100 miles away!! Thanks Samsung
Again, thanks for the help guys.
I managed to reflash the original firmware eventually, and everything went well for a few hours. Managed to receive calls and make them. Then it went downhill and the issue arose again!
Phone off back to samsung for them to probably do exactly what I've done and send it back still broken no doubt!

UPDATE:
After reflashing again I slowly reinstalled all my apps to see if any of those were causing the issue. It turns out that Handcent SMS was the cause of all my troubles. Without this installed everything seems to be running fine so far (touch wood).
Hello Friends,
I am in desperate need of your help.
I am a moderate user and I know how to stuffs about Rooting and flashing custom ROMs.
Today I tried to flash CM9 stable ROM for International Galaxy S2 I9100. I did it using temporary CWM.zip file and everything went just fine till the installation of ROM. But when I clicked Wipe Data, suddenly phone went off and now it doesn't start.
I tried everything, tried to enter into Download mode and Recovery mode but all was in vain.
Please help me what should I do now? And is my phone ever going to come back to life?

Do you know what kernal you had at the time, for the phone to go off during a wipe sounds like the brick bug but I didn't think it was present in LPT. Can other members clarify please. Does your phone charge when plugged into charger?

I'm sorry but that's your fault.
It's being said 1 million times already, that wiping your data in CWM while running stock 4.0.4 ROM with a stock kernel will BRICK your phone.
Your inability to read might have left your phone bricked.
Read through the forum next time, ask questions if you don't understand anything and I can assure you will be luckier next time.

Yes there are many threads in this section and on xda portal warning you about the brick bug...
Almost all 4.0.4 have a brick bug... moreover it is caused when we do a data wipe. I believe you have bricked your device... sorry for that

that's why I blamed you for this. You did not read or ask before wiping but was only guessing.
This is a sticky thread under General section warning everyone about the buck bug. Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756242
I and many others have also warned people about this bug but the unfortunate thing is that most of ask these kind of questions after the problem has occurred.

As far as I know all 4.0.4 ROMS have MMC_CAP_ERASE enabled, so in case of having bad chip and using wipe under temporary CWM floating around you will brick your phone. Although seems the problem is only in touch version of CWM. More detailed information can be found in 1st guide in my signature where Phil was talking with Entropy512.

Sorry dude
You might have to send your phone to device center for repairs but if you are out of warranty or wants to try to Fix things yourself, then the advise/instructions below is for you:
-boot your phone with usb jig, if you can get to download mode, then proceed to next step
-Visit this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841099
Good luck

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your replies.
I already figured it out that I have bricked my phone. But I was under impression that Data wipe with CM9 ROMs is not dangerous. At the time of failure I had already installed CM9.
Guess now I'll have to send the phone to Service center.
One thing I want to ask, "If the phone is hard bricked, is there any chance of them knowing that I had installed a custom ROM?"
If they can't then it might help me since my phone is still under 1 year manufacturer warranty.
Please reply and Thank you for your replies. The latest adventure of mine turned out to be painful one!!

I don't think so. since you can't boot into either recovery or download mode.
Even if you have an increased binary counter, it will be cleared once your device is forced with a usb jig to boot into download mode.

Then USB Jig is my last hope and if that doesn't work then I have to send the phone to the service center.
So if you can't enter into download or recovery mode there is no way to find out if i have used any custom ROM or rooted the phone?
Correct me if I'm wrong.
And thank you for your reply. In this desperation every reply from community member is like gold.
