Restoring Prime to New Condition - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I am selling my two Asus Transformer Primes and would like to know the best way to restore them back to 'Like New' condition. I have unlocked, rooted, and flashed several different ROMs on each of them (one of them currently has Virtuoso and the other is running CM9). I know I cannot 're-lock' the bootloader but other than that, what is the best way to restore everything?
I have ViperMod to unroot them but I cannot seem to locate a a stock ICS ROM. Even better would be the last stock Gingerbread ROM so that I can flash to that and then OTA to the newest ICS update.
Anything else I need to do? I figure I would need to clear the caches and wipe in CWM...
Anything else I am forgetting?

Thanks for the link whycali, that was exactly what I was looking for. I've never flashed a multi-piece app/rom before; I assume I just download the two pieces and the kernel and flash them one at a time using CWM, clear caches, wipe, flash piece 1, flash piece 2, then flash the kernel, then reboot? I want it unrooted so I am going to use the unrooted files, but should I unroot with ViperMod first?

Why do you want to unroot too ? even if you return it to a stock(ish) rom you can never recieve asus updates, and whoever you sell it to should probs know that too.
flashing a stock rom will brick it, i'd recommend backing it up with NVFlash files and then putting a good custom rom on it. but like i say, whoever you sell it to needs to know it will never run like a stock prime.

I just want to get it as close to 'like-new' as possible. I know it will always be unlocked and I will definitely disclose that but in my experience, I have had much better success selling my old devices when I have restored them to 'like new' condition from a software perspective. I had both of them rooted and was loading custom ROMs with 10 minutes of the package coming in the mail but not everyone wants that from a device and restoring it gives people a 'blank slate' to do what they want with it.
What do you mean flashing a stock ROM will brick it? I can't go back to stock .28 ICS, rooted or unrooted?

Flashing a stock rom from asus will brick it. The one I sent you a link to is specifically tailored for unlocked devices.

Tiger Direct return policy????

Good evening folks. WOuld anyone mind sharing any success or failure returning a gtab to tiger direct? I just ordered it on 4-6. The other question is that I put the new kernel etc and new image on it. Is that something that is a no no?
I would like to consider getting something else but im hoping it can be returned. any advice?
I don't know about their return policy, but if US Merchants keeps their word the OTA Updater will be fixed by tomorrow - you should update the firmware right away, imo. I heard that the TD models are very old firmware.
ive already updated it to TNT etc. it works fine. I am just not using it at all, so id like to send it back. my main question is about the fact that its not the stock rom. will tiger take it back even though i modified it? or will they only accept a stock rom back
thanks
I would run with the assumption that you will have to get your unit back to a stock ROM before you send it back. Do you really want to risk them denying your return because you didn't take the time to flash it back to stock?
yeah, good point.
i havent seen many threads on getting it back to stock. if anyone has a link id love one. ill try to search as well.
so i would need to get the stock rom on, as well as the stock kernel etc too right?
There are a few ways to get it back to stock. You can just flash a stock ROM -- for example, one of these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000
hey roebeet. i want to thank you for all your contributions. very much appreciated.
so if i use nvflash, will it get rid of CWM, the kernel i installed , etc?
i want to get it back to Out of box mode.
thanks
nvflash (the 1105 one) one will make it completely 2967 stock, even recovery. The only other things you'd want to do is 1) a factory reset (to wipe data) and 2) remove anything you left on /sdcard.

[Q] A new SGS2 user wanting to use a custom ROM

So hi all, I got my SGS2 about 2 weeks ago and so far am really liking it. I, however, am intrigued about the features that a custom ROM could provide.
Currently I'm looking at Cognition S2. I've read the installation instructions and browsed around the forums reading about this stuff. There are, however, a couple of questions that have risen.
1) Do I need to root my phone before being able to flash Cognition S2? If so, is the best way to do this by getting CF-Root?
2) If I flash said ROM, will I lose all applications and data? If so, is there a way to back them up first? I've read about people recommending Titanium Backup, but even that requires the phone to be rooted so this seems like an egg and a chicken -type of thing to me.
3) If I flash a custom ROM, is there a way to reset the phone back to it's "original" state so that, in case it dies during the warranty, Samsung won't just tell me to get lost because I've flashed it myself?
Basically I'd like to flash, but not if I jeopardize such an expensive toy.

1. Yes.
2. Yes but once you have root, install Titanium, do a back up and then flash Cognition rom.
3. Yes provided you find the correct version of your carrier's software. But beware : if you don't read carefully and screw your phone up with a bad flash, you might not be able to do it yourself.
Read more and then follow instructions exactly.

Yes, your phone must be rooted before flashing (most ROMs). Simply flash CF-Root kernel via ODIN and you are done. Really easy.

Most likely all your apps and settings would remain, BUT. I would highly recommend to boot into CWM recovery (you'll get it by flashing CF-Root kernel), do full wipe and only then flash new ROM.
To backup your apps use AppAdmin/AntTek app Admin/Titanium Backup or some similar app. Titanium Backup has an option to backup app settings/data. Personaly i would NOT use it, but that's another story.

1. Flash CF-Root kernel.
2. Backup your apps/contacts/text messages and so on.
3. Boot into CWM recovery and backup your current ROM.
4. Wipe.
5. Flash new ROM

And yes and no. you can restore phone firmware (if you made a backup on step3), you can flash back stock kernel, but SGS2 have two(?) hidden counters that shows how many times you have flashed custom kernels. If counter shows something else then 0 - your warranty is lost. At least it should be like that but friend of mine got repaired his SGS2 with no problems while his counter was showing "3". Perhaps it depends on person who work at repair center.

Can ClockWorkMod be uninstalled?

I'm looking for a solution for rooting my GT-S5830L in another thread. But while I'm waiting on that, maybe someone could confirm this for me.
I've read that ClockWorkMod can be uninstalled, at least in Froyo, by doing the following:
Deleting: /system/bin/hijack and /system/bin/logwrapper
Then renaming: /system/bin/logwrapper.bin to /system/bin/logwrapper (<- No . at the end)
I've read that in several places, but haven't confirmed that it also applies to Gingerbread. I have 2.3.4.
Thanks folks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437426
Well mine is S5830LUBKP7 GB 2.3.4.. and I've already lined up a procedure to flash a ROM of that I got from sammobile with Odin if needs be.
Are you suggesting that ClockWorkMod can't in fact be completely uninstalled without flashing a stock build?
must reflash with Odin
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
2nd opinion suggesting just deleting and renaming files doesn't do the job. Hummm...
Any more votes?
there's a flashable stock recovery floating around somewhere in the forum, use the search, might work alright. Other than that, Odin.
It seems you're probably worried about warranty. If you ever need warranty for some reason reflash the stock rom from Odin and that's it, gone CWM, gone root, gone any reason to own an open source OS smartphone.
Otherwise, it's really not recomended to be flashing custom or stock modified roms without having the option to backup and restore your phone's system, which in my opinion is the most important asset of CWM.
Don't worry, you can always go back to stock with Odin. But once you root and start flashing, you WON'T GO BACK; there's really no other way to go beyond the factory issued limitations of the ACE.
try Odin

I did check the ROM build on my Ace and found the factory backup on samfirmware. I read up on Odin at the same time, so I'm feeling better about going that route if needs be. I was just wondering if there might have been a quicker and less radical way to uninstall CWM and unroot... and still have have the phone at 99% of what it was rather than start from scratch.
Guess the only reason I'd go back would be to send it in for some reason under warranty. But who knows, at that point there's the chance it might be beyond flashing to factory.
Thanks for confirming that CWM and rooting will be gone if I ever flash back to factory. It's been a crash course in the past few days, going from knowing zip about all this to just staring to get a handle on it all.

I tried before many times and it worked for me. Sometimes you might soft brick it so just use the first option in this tutorial and you should boot back into your rom with no problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088
however if you want to go for the rom based on the official ASUS release by craig gomez then you might wanna try nvflash to go back to ICS.. otherwise you might brick it for good

Is it a zip I can just add and flash via CMW? Let me know ya luck on the JB ROMS..I tried a few prior to the update but waiting for a full JB Rom to flash without the ADB and fast boot crap..
Thanks

Camera seems like it's stuck in macro focus

Hey guys, has anyone had this issue where your camera refuses to focus on anything further away than say about 6 inches? It can focus just fine close up, but beyond that it's garbage. It goes through the 'animation' of focusing, turns red like i can't focus, and doesn't actually adjust the focus at all. It started in about October and has persisted through 3 or 4 ROMs and various camera APKs.
Has anyone replaced their camera before? I doubt verizon would trade me for a new phone seeing as I've rooted it and flashed a lot of ROMs on it. What should I do? What have you done if this has happened to you? This thread outlines exactly the same thing I'm experiencing and seems as they've concluded it's hardware failure.
Thoughts?
Bump in hopes of someone's experience or advice.

I think you're right on the hardware issue. You could always use ODIN to restore the phone back to stock and turn it in for replacement. Verizon can't tell the difference as long as you restore it with the proper factory image. Bad thing is, replacement will probably come locked down with the currently unlockable 4.3 bootloader. At the very least you can restore it with ODIN just to see if it helps the focus issue.

Yeah, i think I might try going back to stock. I wanted to a little while ago just to remember what it was like having a stock system, but I can't find all the files I need. Wasn't there a sticky with Odin and all the right files in one thread? Thought it was stickied, but either I'm blind, or I'm not finding it.
Edit:
Nvm, I'm an idiot

Yeah sometimes I go back to stock for a day or two just to remind myself why crack flashing is so worth it. But sometimes it's just needed to iron out some bugs. I was having radio issues not too long ago, tried different roms and radios and couldn't fix it. Flashed back to stock, worked like a charm. Haven't had an issue since.

Alright, so I remember having some problems when I was first rooting/modifying/Custom recovery-ing...
Couple questions.
1. I use TWRP as my recovery of choice. Can I backup my current ROM as is and store it through there like I normally would when going to a new ROM in case I want to after I go back to stock? Or will going back to stock completely erase all saved ROM images?
If I go back to stock, can I boot into TWRP again like I do now, or is there some process I'll need to follow again to be able to flash my current ROM image? Should I flash the Root66 stock VRALJB 4.1.1 (12/2/12) in the previously linked thread so I can still use custom recovery?
What else should I know? I've become quite good and confident in flashing ROMs, but I'm nervous going back to stock since it seems easier to brick it/lock it down. I remember when I first downloaded and tried installing TWRP, it showed that infamous Yellow Triangle saying the device found unauthorized software and to take it to Verizon, and I remember spending hours trying to flash things to get past that, I don't want to have to deal with that again.

Yes, backup your current ROM, if you use the root66 Odin image it should not erase anything you have stored. But to be safe, I would copy your TWRP backup to either an external SD or to your computer for safe keeping. TWRP should survive, as long as you use root66, the others will overwrite recovery and lock the bootloader.
The only reason you should ever get the "Yellow Triangle", or trip any sort of security is if you attempt to install a custom recovery or ROM while the bootloader remains locked, or, you attempted to install the recovery via ODIN.
The most important thing here is, whatever you do, under any circumstance, DO NOT accept any OTA updates. As long as you don't accept the 4.3 OTA, you should be able to keep your TWRP.
You may want to try this flashable version of the stock VRAMC3 before you resort to ODIN http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261478

Thanks. I tried the last link there, and am back to relatively stock and still have the camera issue.
I'm excited for the 4.3 update to be hacked since I would really, really like multi-window and SNote capabilities on my 4.3 ROM, but who knows when that might happen.
Thanks for you help man!
