Good evening. Has anyone experienced any success with the data drops with the new radio combo. I have tried the combo for several days. As long as I have 4G data is fine. As soon as the connection switches to 3G and back to 4G, I have to reset data connection by turning on/off airplane mode. If anyone had this issue and no longer experiencing it, please advise what steps were taken to resolve. I have also performed a Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik.
Thanks again in advance!

This is a common issue with the leak. I've heard good / bad things about the new radios (nothing that convinces me to change from default radio). You'll just have to wait for the official release of ICS on the Thunderbolt.

This happened to my fathers and my Tbolt. I reflashed the radios over the Rom. I used Jrockers .19 radios he posted on another site and it fixed the problems. I've been running the ICS leak now for a week or so as a Daily driver and I use data all day. All my work orders come via email and get closed out via email. I've had no problems after a day or so of tinkering to get everything to work.
Hope that helps you out.

What radios did you have before? Are Jrockers .19 radios different than the standard .19 radios? You're never dropping data, or just rarely? I agree, a link would be nice to share with the rest of us.
I found this but again no links to the radio's that aren't giving data drops.... anyone have any update on this?

I have been discouraged from the Froyo ROMs for a while due to the problem with calls being dropped but then suddenly they aren't dropped. I really like the Froyo ROMs though so I decided to try it again and the first day I experienced it yet again on CELB 3.6. It only happened a couple of times then 3.7 was released and I flashed that and it happened again on the first call LOL. I then started looking through things in the settings and under the mobile data setting I turned on National Data Roaming, since then I have been on several calls ranging from 20 minutes to an hour and have yet to experience this problem since turning data roaming on, some of these calls were in areas that I know for certain I had the dropped and reconnected calls happen before. Maybe some others may want to try this out and see if it helps you as well. Hope this helps some people that have experienced this as well.
Has anyone else tried this yet? And if so, has it made any difference for you as well?
happens to me all the time. kaos froyo, tazz froyo, celb froyo, nonsensikal froyo. Only at my house tho. i have 3 bars there. not sure whats going on there but i have learned to live with it. Wont be long till we are on 2.3 anyway. deal with it for a month. by the new year kaos should have a completley functional 2.3 rom. maybe without camera, but still fully functional.
I've been messing around with the national data roaming for about a week now. When I have national data roaming enabled it doesn't happen, if I turn it of it does. Try enabling it and see if it makes a difference for you too. It's located under settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks
will enable it and see if it happens tonight.
Same here, after enabling it I have had no stopped call issues. Its been about a week, so far so good
Good information, I think I'm gonna try it, but first does this affect my billing at all? I'm on my parents plan and don't want to give them a heart attack if I incur extra charges

It shouldn't but that would depend on what your plan is. If you have a nationwide plan with unlimited data and no roaming charges then it won't. I'd suggest checking on your plan first. Just a thought though lol.

I also have this problem happen on non-Verizon based ROMs such as RCMix.
The call says it's dropped, but the person on the other end can hear everything that's going on.
Then the phone rings you back, but in reality, they were hearing everything going on around you in the meantime.
I almost lost my girlfriend because of it. Immediately flashed away from said ROM. Had the same problem with Froyo ROMs.
May switch to a CM ROM now, if this is a serious fix. Thanks very much for this.
I was hoping this would be a fix - I upgraded to CELB 3.9 a couple of days ago, and turned on National Data Roaming.
Tonight I had the same behavior - temporary call drop and reconnect along with the same symptoms that usually accompanies it (speakerphone mode toggles off, phone vibrated, yada yada).
Confirmed through examination of the (uncompressed) SYSTEM_TOMBSTONE file in /data/system/dropbox/ that yes, the usual cause is present: segfault crash of the "rild" process.
Rats! I was hoping this might provide a fix... but apparently not for me.

Sorry ut didn't work for you.... so far now im at 3 weeks without it happening to me
I have still had this temporary dropped call problem occur just as frequently on CELBFroyo 3.6 with this "fix". And most of the time I'm in my apartment on the phone for hours when it happens, and it sometimes happens more than once during these extended phone calls.
Just as has been described before: the phone looks and acts like the call was dropped, I can hear nothing but the other person can hear everything, and then after several seconds everything is back to normal.
Oh well. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Very interesting to hear others have been having this problem. I had thought it was due to my bluetooth earphone, because it used to happen to my wife on her old earphone with a standard cell phone. However, last night I lost my earphone and the same problem occurred while on speakerphone. Although annoying, most of the time I just deal with it. I just installed radio version 2.42.01.04.27 hoping it might help. Various versions of CELBFroyo (currently using 3.9) have done it. I will let you all know if this helps and keep checking back on this string to see if anyone else finds a fix.

Seems like its touch and go now. Works for some but not for others. I haven't had it happen to me in 3 weeks now but this hasn't worked for some others where some it has. Im using the new sprint radio now, I don't know if maybe it has anything to do with what radio you have too? I just flashed this radio about a week and a half ago though. Before that I was on the older verizon radio... not the one from july ota though... the previous one.

Thanks for the leads to the other threads. I had not seen them.
I have not had a chance to test with the current radio installed (2.42.01.04.27), but plan to tonight. Is there a newer radio for the Eris? Looking at the version numbers of some I have seen referenced would make me believe that there are newer ones. Where do you download these?

Hey guys,
I've been working all night to try and fix an issue I had with Cyanogen Mod. I couldn't get the GPS to work with the radio I had. So I tried flashing MR3 and I still had no GPS but had 3G / 4G / WiFi connectivity. Going back to MR2 restored GPS but I couldn't maintain data and only had 1X / WiFi.
I've messed with countless radio updates and ROMs trying to get this running again. Going to post my phone's stats:
ROM Current: BAMF Forever 1.0.5
Android Version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version: 3.0
Software Number: 2.11.605.0
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-ge8d3693 [email protected]
Baseband version: 1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r
I need you guys to link me to a ROM, the more light weight the better, that has 3G / 4G, GPS, and WiFi (with tethering). That's all I require =)
If I need a specific radio, a link to that would be great. Thanks a lot.
It's not the ROM...
VZW's LTE is spotty in and out in some areas. I noticed mine first thing this morning...
There are other threads on other forums about it.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/21/psa-verizon-users-reporting-data-outages-across-the-us/
I laugh at how they state that 3G is working fine, while LTE isnt.
I can hardly even get 1x again.
Word is if you make a phone call you can get 3g back afterwards. Worked on the wife's bolt. Worth a shot at least
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I have 3G just fine here. I don't get 4G service at this location so I force it to "CDMA Auto (PRL)" anyway.

I think you're right unfortunately. I wait 3 months to try and fix my GPS and the one night I try it, Verizon's entire data network is taking a crap.
I just assumed that the 1X was a radio issue. I now have 4G connectivity but it's definitely slower than it should be. About 1.4Mbps. My buddy right next to me clocked 10.4Mbps on his brand new Nexus...
I'd still love to get a recommendation on a ROM and Radio version to run. I hate this BAMF ROM.
Different ROMs and different radios will have minimal impact on 4g speeds, if that's your reason for wanting something different.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
LTE came back up in SE Michigan about 2 hours or so ago.
Upon reading the OP's next post, I tested my speed via the SpeakEasy Website's speed test, as I always do.
I don't know whether to **** or go blind, but inside my office just now I hit 22MB down and 4.5 up with 2 bars (out of 4)...I've never gotten more than 12 inside the office down...
Could be that no one is on it...could be a fluke, etc.
BAMF makes quality ROMs. I would bet it's not the ROM or the radio.
I've been using the latest radio leak found here in the developer thread.
I'm sure you already know this...but it's flashed in Bootloader, not recovery.
I'm almost 100% certain it's not the ROM...unless you got a bad download or something.
That being said...you are a few releases behind on their ROM. They are up to 1.10 Final now.
Good thing is there are a ton out there, it's what's best for you...not necessarily what we think.

You're right. My problem is there's too many and I'm tired of looking haha. I just wanted to flash a known good ROM and radio and get this over with. Tired of tampering with my phone.
New update:
I just flashed MIUI from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172235
and the MR3 radio from:
http://www.thunderboltforums.com/fo...151-rs-approved-guide-thunderbolt-radios.html
It's clear from the screenshot provided on the MIUI thread that the dev is using the MR3 radio which is why I chose to flash that.
But now my GPS doesn't work? Holy crap this is getting so annoying. Either my GPS works or my 4G works, I can't have both -_-
I'm trying to get my post count up without spamming the boards so I can post in the development section ;x
EDIT: Just found this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20312888&postcount=1141
Anyone know if it's true?
Are you sure your data/gps is not a phone issue?
Believe it or not I know a few people that replaced their battery door and data/gps was fixed. Antennas are on the door...
In regards to your question about that link, it may work but remember some solutions work for some and not for others. Only real way to know is to try it...

Holy crap this might be the problem. I just installed a longer life battery that has a new back cover for the phone. I'm going to go back to stock and see what happens.
Thanks for this recommendation!
Since upgrading to the new base/radio, I've noticed that my 4G speed is good and fast. But my call reception is terrible.
I was on Nils' v3.0 first, and I thought the iffy call quality was due to some trouble spots at work.
But now I'm running Joel's BAMF and it's like I can't compete a call without a dropout.
Data is crazy fast on both ROMs, but the call issues are killing me.
Do you think maybe there was a problem with the RUU install? Is there anything I can do, short of a complete reinstall?
Bump.
Sorry for pushing this, but I really need some help here.
It seems to be a conflict within the radios used by the radio app and the ones used to conect with the mobile netwok....

I tried disabling mobile data and making a call, but there was still a lot of reception dropout.
Any other ideas?

i havent seen this yet. in fact my call quality has improved with the latest ruu and the 4g speeds stayed the same. you could try relocking it, flashing the ruu, unlocking, then a rom of your choice. but i dont see how that would help at all.
I'm just thinking maybe the radio flash didn't go quite right? I'm just running out of other ideas.
Tonight when I get home I'm gonna try the stock battery with the original cover. Maybe all the battery pulling goofed up my extended battery cover's antenna?
I am running the stock ICS leak on a stock phone and my reception is fine.
Somebody recomended installing the RUU twice to eleminate chances of problems.
That's what I did and have not had the first problem yet.
It's not running it twice. More like it updates hboot then needs to be rebooted back into the updated hboot to complete the rest of the update.

I tried going back to my stock battery and cover to see if I was having an antenna problem on my extended battery back cover, but there was no noticeable improvement in cell reception.
Again, data was great, but calls were dropping with alarming regularity.
I decided that it was likely due to a bad flash of the RUU with the new base, so I hunkered down and went through the process again. Re-lock; RUU; Unlock; Flash Amon Ra Recovery; Flash Joel New Firmware Kernel; Wipe Data, Cache, and System; Flash BAMF; Boot...
It's late, but I called Best Buy's auto line. I got through the whole list of options without an audio dropout. Tomorrow will be the real test, but I'm encouraged. Wish me luck!

The Reinstall of the RUU did not fix my radio problem.
Man, I look forward to the next base leak. My data is great, but call sound quality and reception reliability is REALLY bad.
Is it a regional thing? Is anyone else running on the new base and living in the Riverside/Corona CA area?
Is it a phone thing? Is it just my phone that doesn't like this update? I have done these a few times in the past, and I haven't had any other issues. My Radio numbers and HBOOT versions all show correct. The ROMs I've run (Nils' ICS 3.0 and BAMF 1.1 and 1.2) on this new base all work great, and behave as we've all read about in the development section. Everything else is fine.
Does anybody else have any ideas? Thanks
I just got an LTEvo and when I activated it I noticed that data was working, but was extremely slow. My last phone was the original EVO 4G and 3G data worked much better. I streamed music and videos all the time. Apps downloaded quickly. Now the new phone connection times out most of the time just searching the play store. Downloading an app is torture unless I'm on wifi. It takes a long time just to start and just took about 5 min. to download the 3.04MB speedtest app. This was instant on my old EVO over 3G. Results on speedtest say: ping - 832ms, 132kbps down/ 58kbps up on the attempt I didn't get connection issues. The data seems to randomly disconnect.
This issue started on the new phone so I can't blame the network. Phone info is: HW version 0003, Software 1.13.651.1.710RD, PRI 2.28_003, PRL 25006, kernel 3.0.8, baseband 1.02.12.0427
I've already gone ahead and finished RegawMod and LazyPanda (data problem was present before this), so is there anything I can flash that might improve the data on this phone? I was about to flash the 1.22 firmware here to see if this fixed anything. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd appreciate it. I'm completely new to this phone.
The firmware may help a little. U update prl? My og EVO was just as slow for me, so can't say much.

Yes, I updated PRL and profile. I can't believe that anyone could live with data this slow. Oddly enough, everyone applauds Verizon's speed, but in my area Sprint is faster. I got excited when Verizon claimed my area was covered for LTE, but it's so spotty I'm never covered.
I'll just see how the newer firmware works out. I think it includes the newer radio which is hopefully better.
Okay, just tried the 2.13 full firmware zip from the link ccaudio1 posted. Everything seemed to take except the software version is still 1.13
Nothing is different on the ROM at all. Do I need to do a reset first?
That's because the firmware is separate from the Rom, you only flashed the newer radios and any other changes/improvements made to firmware

Yeah, just noticed that I didn't have the ROM file. Downloading now, but it's taking a while.
Data doesn't seem any faster though. Still terrible. Weird that my old EVO was much quicker. Maybe it's just a coincidence and Sprint is working on the towers around here again. I'll give it a try in another area and see if it works better. I was getting speeds 10-20 times faster before I switched phones.
One more question before I install the ROM. I'm unfamiliar with the TWRP recovery. Which option do I use to do a full wipe? System? Internal Storage?
Sorry, I've been in a low coverage area and unable to use data, you don't need to wipe internal but it may help avoid issues. Back up any data you want to keep. Wipe dalvik, cache, factory reset, system
Thank you all so much. For some reason data worked perfect after the rom update. Back to 2.1 Mbps down over 3G. Been a little busy, but wanted to update that it did fix the data issue and have been loving the new phone since.
TL;DR Does the full ICS update fix 4G data crashes and reboots?
I have had the rebooting issues and 4G data crashes that seem so common on many forums however I have yet to read about a fix for them.
The reboot issue seemed to be caused by the phone switching between 3g and 4g. Using LTE On/Off prevents the reboots but I get random 4G crashes. They last only a few seconds but once they start its near impossible to use data and the phone must be restarted anyway. I'm rooted, S-Off with the recent ICS radios flashed on a Gingerbread ROM. My question is will flashing the full ICS ROM fix the issues? Or will a new SIM card fix the problems? Im still a little noobish with this stuff so please be gentle.
It might help considering the ota included a completely reworked ril and some other components the ril didn't have before that help tons. I haven't had one data drop where I have to switch to airplane mode or toggle data to get it back. I'm not running the official build but one of Santod's roms that is using the new ril.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Yes, the update and more importantly, the radios and new Ril, do fix the data drops, reboots, battery drain, etc,...
Well worth the upgrade in my opinion.
First time in a long time, that I have felt the radios were actually solid.
Thank you, I will be trying one of Santod's tonight.
And Santod thank you for getting the radios and ROMs out so quickly. Much appreciated!
